Being very much a beginner these vids are very useful. It can be quite disheartening to build something and find mould lines, nubs are stuff on builds. Finding out experts sometimes miss them and then how to correct them is reassuring. It is also good to know that these kits don't always fit together as they should, although, getting it right is part of the fun. I like the way you show these problems and the simple solutions, it is very helpful.
Hi, used to build a lot of WWII tanks, vehicles and soldiers in 1/72 as a young teenager, now many moons later I'm coming back to the hobby but in 1/35 scale and I see I lost a lot of my practice, and my vision is not as it was either which make things harder but anyhow, found your series and I like that you're taking it in slow steps - I can see where I can improve in my building though my biggest issue was always the painting and weathering. I moved from enamel to acrylics. Looking forward to seeing your next videos as there is always good tips to pick up from watching your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Really appreciate these builds. I am a more experienced modeller but still enjoy these simple builds. Very relaxing. Another good build that might be great to show early modellers is the Jagdpanzer IV by Tamiya.
I'm much the same as Mark.. Or at least I consider myself to be., and would echo his comments. Keeping it simple, and being honest about mistakes and workarounds makes your videos particularly enjoyable. I also like the way you have lifted things as you progress. Shows how simple things can improve the outcome both in terms of aesthetic and accuracy. I suffered the dreaded AMS for a while and only recently came back to a more simple & "honest" (for me at least) modelling. It's put the joy back into what is, after all a hobby. It we can't enjoy it, then we're doing it wrong. Thank you and long may you continue.
Its very interesting to note, that the humble or not so humble jerry can was dismissed by the Americans but adopted by the Brits after being noticed in Norway in 1940 where it received the name as we now know it, Jerry Can. It was an American, Paul Pleiss who had three originals and the plans, who supplied the US and again later the Brits with a sample jerry can and the plans to make them. They where in mass production by the spring of 1943 and all made in the UK for British and American forces. I personally have handled many of these cans when filling the Centurion and Chieftain Tanks when on exersize in West Germany 1969-70ish. Something that's quite an addition to model tanks.
I have a special affinity with this tank My grandfather was a Crocodile driver in the war he didn't talk much about his time but he loved that tank although he had some horror stories to tell if it was not for the Churchill Croc me and my son might not be here. he bought me the Croc tamiya model when I was 10 i made a complete arse of it with Gloss hombrol paints but it was my first tamiya kit.
A REALLY useful series ! re starting modelling after a lifetime ..begining in the 60's ...I'm focusing on a single photo I could find tagged (43rd Wessex Div) " 179th field Reg RA on way to Cheux".....my Dad's regiment . So it has a Quad converion , a universal carrier , a light Bedford soft top truck & way off what looks like a Churchill . Two other photos (not of the 179th) has Crusader AA & a U C pulling a Anti tank gun . If THAT's not enough for a stash....my dad was actually in the RA "signals" laying cable from a U C ..so ..trying to find the markings for the Crusader AA RA , & a "Signals" UC RA which I might have to fake what that would look like .....bought a spray set....think I'm in a modellers "world of pain " !
nice video build About the fillers: You can use classic Tamiya filler (or any lacquer surfacers from Tamiya/Gunze) the same way and clean them with lacquer thinner afterwards without damaging the plastic (they take a bit longer to wipe off though). Just don´t use Acetone but Tamiya lacquer thinner / gnuze thinners (just not the rapid one). And they are more durable then Perfect Plastic Putty.
Great video!!! Have this very kit as well. Think it is about 3/4 way built for could not make up mind about scheme. Also, did not like Tamiya's suggestion for the British paint job, so kit been sitting on shelf for about 6 years. Watching this video, and part 2, got me interested in finally finishing this kit. Hopefully will have it complete soon.
You should do a model naval ship that would be really cool also I love watching you well I do my models keep making these nice videos everyone should subscribe
Nice looking kit and nice build. Too bad about the flash on those tracks--one would hope Tamiya would update their mold process or go with plastic tracks. I'm sure their aftermarket tracks
I tried to start armour modelling a couple of years ago and made so many mistakes. Chose an over complicated Tiger tank build, painted Tamiya paints with brushes, basically i built a mess and got disheartened. This series has relit the fire and im going to follow you starting with the Pz ii. One question tho - do you have a video on choosing an airbrush - i obv need one if i want a decent result. Thank you
I have a problem. This has been bothering me for a day or two now. It's the armor plate in the front of the Churchill (about 10:10). It partially covers the hatch, on the left when you face the tank. Is this a design flaw? Does the armor plate move?? This bothers me!! Really enjoy your Step by Step reviews. You've helped this beginner a lot!! Best wishes.... Ax
I have just started this part 1. Unfortunately one of the tracks came away at the join as though it had melted. I used Tamiya Extra Thin Cement Quick Setting.. Does too much cement melt the plastic tracks?
I have several questions if I may: 1) How these smoke generators are fit ? There are 8 pins that are messing with the fit. 2) isnt turret too should be welded ?
Or pop into your local Pharmacy and choose a pair of fine nail clippers. They are the same thing, designed to cut material of similar thickness and properties. If you feel brave, you can save money by 'constructively acquiring' them from your partner/daughter - lol.
I have a tube of Testor gap filler(might hav the name wrong) wondering if i could add a touch of thinner and get the same results as this, addding texture on the turret???
I remember making this kit back in the 70s. Its given the urge to make it again after all these years.
Loving your series of builds. Inspired me to get back into building after a 40 year break 🙏
I"ve never seen such a great video in my life I wish you prosperity

Thank you! Such a superb step by step guide. I'm another person trying to model again after decades since I last tried.
Just got this kit. Looks really great. Look forward to building it.

I'm about to get this kit so this series is extremely useful and timely. Thank you for doing an excellent job.
Had one of these that I built as a child. Had to throw it out when I moved maybe 20 years ago but it was one of my favorite kits to assemble
*Nice and fast built as i like with Tamiya and my favorite english tank (with the Comet).👍*

This one has been on my wishlist for a long time, think I'll order one after this video!
Same here.............

Thanks for your kind comments, yes I have many in the pipeline and that is a great choice👍

I have a original 43 dated Jerry can for water.
Doing this model exactly same time exact steps, awesomeness
I've been on a streak of aircraft builds for the last two years, really need to bust out one of the armor kits I have in my stash.
大型キット、イギリスのタンクすこ👍
Very interesting and informative even for experienced modellers thanks for the tips.
This kit was one of best builds, loved it.

Have one, the crocodile version, in my stash till the early 90's! Now in the top of the pile!
Looking forward to checking out your channel!
Great videos, my friend.

I’ve still got an unbuilt 70s kit with motors and power pack in my stash
Good progress on this one! I thought about getting this a little while ago - maybe I will after seeing it here :)
Awesome video mate! Can't wait to see the next part. 😁 definitly subscribing to your channel.
Cheers. Cast texture info was very handy. Subsribed.
Brilliant thanks!
Loving your videos, keep up the good work
Another great helpful video. Good to see
It’s only now that I remember that my Tamiya “S” tank was motorized.

Did have 3 schemes, olive drab, winter, desert africa d yellow
Looks good so far.
Ordered, waiting for arrival
Great video my friend really helpful thanks 👍👍
And suddenly all the Tamiya 1/35th Churchill's are sold out in the UK..
Inspiring stuff, even for an experience modeller, whose not done much armour.
Try element games £15 cheaper than hobbycraft

Großartig !!!!
Great video! Please advise where you purchased the clamps used. I am a recent beginner. Thx,
Local discount diy store or amazon 👍
do you think there is a difference between extra thin and normal cement, and is the difference worth it

???????????
Make sure that plare is seated all the way down, u have to spread the hull outwards to get it to snap in place
nice build, very informative....thank you. Not a big issue, just wondering are the tracks the wrong way around?
The tracks are correct. The taper on each link is at the top as viewed from the front. like this :- /|-||-|\
Is it essential to fill the fine gaps with something like putty?
1:38 what size drill bit did you use ? Thanks
I have just started this part 1. Unfortunately one of the tracks came away at the join as though it had melted. I used Tamiya Extra Thin Cement Quick Setting.. Does too much cement melt the plastic tracks?
Hey nice model, you want to build a Cromwell?
I have several questions if I may:
1) How these smoke generators are fit ? There are 8 pins that are messing with the fit.
2) isnt turret too should be welded ?
Does tamiya provide n africa version for this tank?
Get some fruil tracks, getting this kit and those fruil tracks
Do all kits have polycaps? Or are some built in. Can't find mine and where are the numbers for polycaps.
is the technic with the mr surfacer applicable for every casted turret like t62?
Yes any type of cast texture can be achieved with this method 👍
@@ChampionScaleModelling what about just using Tamiya basic putty with tamiya extra thin cement? I dont have mr surfacer 1200.
Any ideas why don't they use power on those models. Lack of interest?
Sorry - where is the link for the clippers, please?

Hi I’m recently join to make afv model. Can I know the drill you used in 1:53
Bit late with the question, but I have just received this kit as a present. Is it still possible to get the motor for it?
I don’t think you can anymore other than getting an original one from ebay, Tamiya don’t make them anaymore
@@ChampionScaleModelling thanks very much
I have a tube of Testor gap filler(might hav the name wrong) wondering if i could add a touch of thinner and get the same results as this, addding texture on the turret???
try on a piece of scrap plastic first
muy ameno
Looking for a decent modern release
Afv Club have most of the variants in their catalogue and they’re really great kits
I had this kit, this is the old Crocodile tank produced by Tamiya 1977 with some new parts! Not a new tooling one!
A bit disappointing!
I HAVE ONE
👀👀👍🏼
Those tracks ☹️

@@ChampionScaleModelling Your vids are excellent.
That turret top never fit, was a mess had to remove plastic to get to fit, will fill in w putty latter, first tamiya bad engineering i've seen
