Freelap Tx Touch Pro vs Freelap E-Starter

- Here I discuss the different ways to time your sprints, including your starts, with the Freelap Timing System. Using the Freelap Tx Touch Pro or the Freelap E-Starter, you can better assess your acceleration and starting abilities, and better decide how to progress your sprint training and strength training programs to target what you need to work on the most.

Freelap Timing System Review: sprintingworkouts.com/blogs/training-equipment/freelap-timing-system-review
I've had the touchpad for years. I will say that the pressure on the button does damage it over time, though Freelap has been great with their after service.
Yeah my button is a little cracked after years of use. Still works, but some day it would probably stop haha. Freelap is definitely great about customer service! Thanks for sharing your feedback.
nice video - i find having my thumb on the touchpad when in the blocks pretty uncomfortable. If you have a training partner they can hold the touchpad behind you, and then you get the reaction time when they say go. Having said that, now having the e-starter it is amazing doing 8-12 block starts where every time you go, not when you are ready but when it sounds. doing that many reps you really feel when you jump the gun or have a bad start
Good idea with having a partner call the start and activate the touchpad. Also glad to hear the e-starter is working out for you. I’ve noticed good changes in how composed I can be when the gun goes off after using it a while. Appreciate you sharing your experiences!
Great reviews, thanks for sharing. Keep up the content
This was a fantastic video man. Huge help, Thanks!
Great video. There’s an update coming soon to the eStarter that will show you your actual reaction times.
Oh that would be sick! Where’d you hear about it
^
I use the Xtimer system cuz it had the reaction time measurement before Freelap did. Sadly thry went out of business apparently, so i cant expand my set to have more transmitters to measure more splits. I'll switch to Freelap at some point.
Yeah that sucks you can’t expand the system now. Maybe someone will sell some used sensors on eBay haha. In the meantime at least you’ve got a system to use!
@@ATHLETE.X yeah the ability to have a system to start when you often train alone was very important to me. These days when i train with a group and our coach more often its not that big of a deal, but it definately helpen me alot before.
You should have shown them in use!
Bro plzz bro make video on 400m workout full guide on 400m workout off seanson weigths training all workout from monday to friday plz bro
Did you see the video I posted on the date Cory?
What would you recommend for someone that just start sprint training and don't want to invest at this point so much money in a timing system, but still needs some timing method when training alone?
You could put cones down, film yourself in 120-240 FPS, put the video into Kinovea (free windows app), and use the stopwatch function to time yourself. Or there’s a cheap timing system on Amazon, I’ve got them linked in an article you can find on Google. Search for “best timing gates” and look for sprintingworkouts.com
Thanks for the response! @@ATHLETE.X
Is it possible to use the E-Starter as a TX Junior Pro? because that would make it possible to alternate its use, to train your start or to include it as a flying point and it would be very worthwhile.
Unfortunately not. That would be pretty cool though. Maybe we can suggest that to them for version 2.
@@ATHLETE.X It would be great if you could propose it to have a 2 in 1
So the E starter emits a sound like a gun shot that occurs 10 seconds after pressing the button?
It’ll say set at 10 seconds, then the gun sound goes off at a random interval averaging around 2 seconds later.
🤩
So if you hipoteticaly use both devices at the same time, e-starter will measure RT + 2/100 sec additional time compare to Toucpad (eg. 11.00 vs 11.20)?
Is e-starter compatible with old stopwatch?
Thx
With the e starter do I need the normal freelap cones on the finish setting? I have the 2 normal freelap cones and having the e starter would be nice but I just don’t know how it works completely
For the last cone yeah. Cones in between for splits can be placed on Lap.
It would be good if the E-starter could detect false starts, so you put it a certain distance before the finish and if you cross it too early it knows its a false start. Or if you could combine the e-starter and the touch pad to detect false starts.
How tf you gonna detect a bad start from the finish end, please use your brain
@@mhxxd4 If your hand comes off the touch pad In under 0.1 seconds after the start sound comes on lmfao. You're the one that needs to use your brain your.🤡
@mhxxd4 lmao you deleted the comment😂
@@aodoemela oh that makes sense, you threw me off by saying finish when I think you meant the start cone. My bad.
And my comment is still showing for me
@@mhxxd4 Oh its gone for me lol. Sorry for being rude but you kind of pissed me off🤣🤣
If I’m using the touch pad and doing 30 meter starts do i place sensor directly on 30 meters? (Women’s 3rd hurdle mark)
30.8m to account for the 80cm radius of the sensors
Do you use a smart watch with the cones because I don’t have a smart watch and the cones won’t work while I record myself. I can either record myself or carry my phone in my pocket while I run which I hate.
I have the relay coach and FX chips, not the FX BLE chips.
If you have BLE chips you’re supposed to set the phone down on the ground a few meters past the final cone.
@@ATHLETE.X Yea that’s why the cones won’t work because my phone is not near the final cone. So would me getting a smart watch work?
@@edwindez484 it should work. Maybe buy one from a place that lets you return it to so you can test it out
@@ATHLETE.X Yea, I’m going to borrow one from someone and test it, but thank you for the info and response
Does the estarter also have a magnetic radius around it like the jr cones do? or can I start even with the starter cone instead of behind it
You just have to be within 1 meter or so (maybe 1.5) so it can communicate to the chip. It helps to have a line of sight between chip & cone for best reliability.
but when does the time actually start when using the estarter? @@ATHLETE.X
How far can Free lap measure, would I be able to measure a 60m 100m or even 200m?
Yeah there’s no real limit. Only distance constraint is the distance from the cone to the transmitter or your phone if using FxBLE chips.

@@ATHLETE.X awesome thank you sm! Would picking up a kit soon for summer training and would like to keep track of my numbers just wasn’t sure how far the distance it could measure.
