Oh Colin I hear you! Dormouse is SO special, and it was a real passion documenting his progress. You should see the family who adopted them, they are wonderful! I do miss him but never fear, another kitty will come along soon for a new video series. Thanks for the comment! ++Caroline
ye same here, i would not have been able to give him away he is so cute and what they went through i just could not have bared to be without him, well i hope they get some video of him from the new owners in a few months time so we can see him happy.
It is always hard saying goodbye...but knowing the kitty is going to a forever home that will love him/her makes it worth it. Thanks for the kind comment.
Watching this made me so happy. I have a feral kitten of my own (he's tamed now!), that I rescued along with his sister and mother from behind a laundromat. He was about a month old at the time, and had no trust in humans whatsoever. He ended up staying with my husband and I while his mother and sister went on to other homes. They were more tame and ready to be adopted, however this little fella needed some more work. Luckily my other cats were more than happy to accept him into their social group. With the similar techniques my little kitten made such a fast turnaround! He's two years old now, and the sweetest little lovebug I have ever met in my life. He seeks me out for face rubs, and loves to talk my head off. I honestly couldn't imagine my family without him now. Patience and persistence definitely go a long way! I recommend every technique from these videos to anyone looking to tame their little feral.
I am so happy to see little Dormouse finding his forever home :-) !! He's really come a long way and you are doing amazing job in making sure such feral kitties get a new lease on life ! I will miss your videos with Dormouse 😊...
As a former 8 year old boy with a cat i can tell that Dormouse is going to be a great kitty for him and his whole family. I wouldnt be surprised if the whole neighborhood doesnt get to know him in a few years. He looked like he was enjoying those pats a whole lot....!! Good work with him indeed. You have saved Dormouse from a miserable life and given him the best start possible.
Well done and a big thank you for your care 💖 I went through the same process fostering 7 semi feral kittens. We won them all over and by the end they all found great loving homes. Dean 🇦🇺🐨
thanks for sharing Dormous's journey it felt like I knew him a long time and get to know him well. It's kinda hard to say goodbye to him 'cause i grew fond of him. I wish him the best and hopes he is happy where he is now.
This has been such a wonderful adventure all about patience and love 💕 I am so happy Dormouse connected with his furrever family! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful process with us. My adult Daughter and I are adopting two 12 week old baby boys from a wonderful shelter this coming Saturday. Kaskae and Miska were abandoned and found under a trailer on the reservation and rescued at only a few weeks old. I know we have a learning journey with these little ones and thanks in part to you and all the good people on your channel I feel confident we can be loving patient guardians for our Big Chief and Little Bear.
Awww shy little Dormouse with the beautiful eyes..! So, so happy he got a loving forever home! Fantastic work, lady - thank you for everything you do for these precious little beings! Love from Sweden
Thank you for the video. I have 2 ferals that I just had fixed and brought back home from the trapper. I got them very calm and sleeping with a rubby glove. Worked like a charm! Still hissed but they are much better and not hiding anymore. ❤️
Thank you for the kind comment! I am really proud of how well Dormouse did, because honestly I wasn't sure if he'd ever be "socialized". I am fortunate to have found him a family who understood that he needed extra time to get used to his new home. I think it paid off really well!
Great series. So glad he found a good home. It's amazing what love and patience can accomplish. Kudos to you for all the work you do. It takes a special, loving person. My Gracie is lying on my stomach as i write this☺
This was a happy ending for Dormouse. When the family who eventually adopted him came to see him, the mother asked the little boy, "Well, do you like Dormouse?" and the little boy replied, "I LOVE Dormouse." I nearly burst into tears.
Wonderful. I've got to attempt this with 5! Born in our outside shed I've fed mum for many weeks, now she's left them and they rely on me for food. It's now or never, so nervous This blog has given me hope as I feel three of them could possibly come around. Thankyou.
What wonderful video's of taming Dormouse. Thank you so much for working with him, posting these informative video's on taming, and giving him a 2nd chance to find a furever home. God bless you!
I'm so happy he got a forever home. U guys worked so hard to make sure he got that forever home and he also work hard too. U guys are awesome and so is he
I got teary eyed! As much as I would love to have this for a job, to help kitties, and other animals.. Getting them a home would probably be hard for me. Happiness and a little sad cause I would have missed that personality.
Thank you so much for this series. I just adopted a very shy feral kitten and I can't wait to help him become the sweetest boy he can be! I've learned a lot from your videos!
Well done for little Dormouse. I'm so happy for him. I'm going to miss seeing his wee face in videos though BUT it doesn't compare to him having him found his forever home. Well done to you all 😻😽
Can't wait to see series like these on YT--about the much maligned adult feral kitties, whom I know from personal experience, to be VERY TAMEABLE. One great period, is when female kitties are preggers and close to giving birth. They are very susceptible to accepting help from humans, and making the transition to becoming house kitties themselves. I do believe they can all make that transition. But, with adult kitties, it can take over a year--which many people, sadly, are unwilling to invest. So, I am thankful for anything which helps encourage that process naturally--as it will never work if the process is forced, as I'm sure you well know =) Again, thanks so very much for your great work =)
I have watched the Doormouse series. Thank you from one Foster dad to a Foster mom for all you do. I have failed miserably when it comes to doing this with some of the kittens I have had as I did not know to have them in an enclosed space (cage) instead of having them in their own room with no access to the rest of the house. They hid in the cat tree and my only success was by using the spoon taped to a stick to feed them. One ended up socializing when I got closer to her daily until there was only the spoon and I was able to reach behind her to give a light pet/touch until she got used to that and eventually pick her up and put her on my lap as I sat right beside the cat tree they were hiding in. Once she got antsy I would put her back up on the tree, then do it again few minutes later. She eventually was socialized enough for her to return for adoption but the other two were too scared though one was starting to understand that touch was not totally bad. They went to another more experienced foster and one of those two eventually socialized. The third was a real wildcat and only now is he "getting there"with other foster families. He at 11 months is 1.5 times the size of the 2 year old scared hissy foster I have now. She really is tiny! You can walk in the room and approach her 6 times and 1/3rd of the time she will hiss, though you can move right in and pet her without any further issue. I am able to pet her as she eats with no problems. Her only "biting" is the light biting with no breaking skin as she does not like something and the paw will sit on my hand to say "Hey! I am getting tired of you petting my feet!" She does LOVE her pets, though she is only as of today starting to play "off" the cat tree. (22nd Jan 2020) She is the 7th cat/kitten I have fostered, and I have had her for just over 2 weeks. I see it taking probably 3-4 months to get her adoption ready! I did have my very best moment when I socialized 2 young kittens and had the two of them purring on my chest this summer as I petted the two of them. it took 6 days for the second to purr for me, and the first came to my chair and hopped onto it so that I could pick her up and place her beside her buddy for the purr session. (not litter mates though only 5 days age difference between them) I Only started fostering a year ago, so I have much to learn. Thank you for helping with that education!!! One thing about your videos is that I find the music to be much louder than the voice and have to adjust the volume down during the time when there is music then back up when there is voice. Very irritating especially when I have someone sleeping in the next room. If the music volume was at the same level as the voice level I would give the videos 10 stars out of 5!!! But, that is just me.
I just discovered your videos starting with the first, Dormouse video. What an amazing transformation! It took me forever to get my girl kitty, Cleo to be that social with me but the boys were lovers right away.
It WAS hard seeing Dormouse leave, but he went to such a loving and happy home it made it a lot better. There's a hundred more Dormouse's out there needing help so it was just time to move on to the next. Thanks for the nice comment! **Caroline
I'm so lucky to find this video while I'm frustrated when taming a feral kitten I regularly see near my apartment. I hope I can do better! Thank you so much for sharing the video. It helps a lot!
Thank you for these videos! I watched all 6 and they helped me know what to do for 2 stray kittens I rescued. They are younger than Dormouse, and they went from scared and hissing to cuddling and purring fairly quickly. In only 2 days they started climbing onto my lap to take naps. :D I still have work to do since it's only been 4 days, and I need to introduce them to other people. But they are healthy and happy already. Thanks again!
Hello LincolnWorld! I am so thrilled that the Dormouse videos were helpful in socializing your kittens. And the younger you start working with them the better. Now that they are actually seeking you out to sleep in your nap you are golden! Keep up the great work and it sounds like you have two devoted friends for life. Thank you SO much for taking in these babies! Please let us know how the kittens are doing as they grow up! Much love, Caroline
Thx so much for this series cause my cats live outside (cause i live on a farm) and cause of that makes them more easy to get mated with and that means more kittens and cause of u I can tame them down a lot easyer so thank u so much Luv ya! 😘😘😘😙
Thanks Megan, and good luck catching all those little buggers! You are doing all the kitties on your farm a great service getting them tamed and adopted. I lived on a farm when I was younger and we had farm cats... they ruled the barn and had a truly great life! Kisses back**Caroline
Thank you!! Yes I am excited about the 1,000. My friends say I am not as "aggressive" as I should be in asking for subscribers, but I just love doing the videos and figure people who are interested in cats will find them. Appreciate the kind words James! **Caroline
I just wanted to say thank you for this. I have a cat who, when he was just a baby, got dropped on his head. It was an accident and luckily my mom knew enough to keep him going till we could get him to the vet. Unfortunately, he had lost his faith in us. He would strike out seemingly randomly and had an extreme fear of being held- my mom was considering putting him down for a long time. We've had so many frustrations and these videos with Doormouse have been so helpful. With a lot of love and patience Ike now seeks comfort and attention from us, and even gets pretty chatty at times. It's been about six months since the last time he lashed out, and we have a lot of hope.
Thank you for your comment! I am so glad that your kitty is doing better. It really can take a very long time for them to start trusting, and it can be frustrating. Believe me, there are times when I wonder if I will be able to get through to a cat I'm trying to socialize. Keep doing what you are doing, I promise your cat will only get better. A couple of my own cats were rather shy for the first couple of years and now they are the most loving of the group. Please keep us posted, ok? Love, Caroline
Update on Ike: my mom has officially decided not to put him down, and he is very friendly even to strangers. He's incredibly sweet and loving, and our other cat and he have begun tentatively playing, as well as him starting to sort of clumsily play with cat toys. It's so crazy- we used to have to be so incredibly careful around him, and now he'll sit in laps and get pets, and just leave if he gets overstimulated instead of attacking. :)
Great video series about Doorknob. I just got rewarded with 5 kittens from my feral mom cat and I am going to use your advice to socialize these new babies. I plan on getting the mom cat fixed and the dad cat is always around the rest of the family as well. I have had them all together for breakfast in the mornings on my front porch. The mom is allowing me access to her kittens and I think that is significant in that she trusts me somewhat with them.
Thanks for the comment and I am so glad you enjoyed the videos! I really recommend being a cat foster parent. I have been fostering for almost 10 years now and I love it so much. Although it is a lot of work (depending on the number of fosters you have) and can be sad to say goodbye, it makes all the difference to those cats and kittens who need a temporary home and otherwise would be euthanized. Good luck and keep us posted!
Wow. I could never be able to raise a kitten and give it away. Not being negative. What I mean is, you're doing a great thing helping these cats become adoptable and no doubt, It must be hard for you to let them go. I recently rescued two kittens and three weeks later, I was finally able to rescue the mother. The kittens are great but they are doing exactly what Dormouse was doing. Hiding every time I enter their room. So I will definitely do the bathroom training idea. As for playing, I'm lucky. I didn't have to teach them that as I have two kittens instead of one so they are learning from each other, and they do play. They sound like two tornadoes tearing the room apart. It's a joy hearing them running and jumping, and they love their new cat condo. Now, I have the mother finally united with her two kittens so I'm socializing her. She's very shy and afraid but she's not aggressive at all. She's not fighting to get out at all. Her eyes were dilated alot but I notice they are becoming much more relaxed and she even falls asleep. She has never once hissed or growled at me either. Still, I respect her space and keep my distance. Anyway, I'm ranting. I'm keeping the mom and two kittens. Again, you are amazing and you have an amazing heart. Thank you for sharing your videos because they really are helping me alot right now.
All together now: "AAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!"....I turn to poo every time I watch cats....we had ours 18yrs before she died....over half my life at the time....:)....
Oh god, it might have been tough to give Dormouse to other family. Because it stayed with you since he was small. I can feel the pain. Hope he is doing well now.
just subscribed!I really love doormouse and happy that he found a forever home.I've learned a lot from you on how to handle cats like him.you're amazing!
There is nothing more satisfying than getting a stray kitty to trust and love.
100% agree Pip...it is a special feeling!
So glad he has a forever home but I'm going to miss these Dormouse videos
Oh Colin I hear you! Dormouse is SO special, and it was a real passion documenting his progress. You should see the family who adopted them, they are wonderful! I do miss him but never fear, another kitty will come along soon for a new video series. Thanks for the comment! ++Caroline

So glad we can see Dormouse again :D
Love it 🤗
Thank you so much for your patience and love for little Dormouse!
Hi Ann, Thank you for watching! **Caroline
You are gorgeous. Inside and out
Thanks for not giving up on this sweet baby. His happiness is all due to you. 👍🏻😺
I don't think I can form a bond with a cat like Dormouse like you did then let him go. Just teared up. You've got a beautiful heart. I'll miss him.
It is always hard saying goodbye...but knowing the kitty is going to a forever home that will love him/her makes it worth it. Thanks for the kind comment.
I'm going to miss little Dormouse, Kitten School you've done a fabulous job with him. Thank you!!! Good luck to you lil Dormouse!!!

Thank you Trina!!!
Such a great story! Dormouse looks very like an abandoned kitten that I took in from work. Jasper was a great cat and lived to be 17 years old.
He did a complete 180. Great work.
congratulations to dear and sweet Dormouse!
Thanks George! I am so happy this little guy got such a wonderful home.
aww....he's so precious and i love his name!!!

Oh my, isn't he just precious? He is way too cute for his own good.
Well done and a big thank you for your care 💖
I went through the same process fostering 7 semi feral kittens. We won them all over and by the end they all found great loving homes.

How long did it take, did you keep them all together? I've got 5 to catch then start getting them tame. Really apprehensive!
Dormouse wound-up being such a sweet little kitty. It was a pleasure to watch his journey and the hard work you put in raising him.
thanks for sharing Dormous's journey it felt like I knew him a long time and get to know him well. It's kinda hard to say goodbye to him 'cause i grew fond of him. I wish him the best and hopes he is happy where he is now.
He IS very happy in his new home!
I watched and enjoyed all the videos about Dormouse. Loved your patience and kindness towards him. I’m glad he now has a loving home...
Thank you Malik! Appreciate the nice comment. xoxo
Well done M'Lady. With the way things are these days, videos like this renew my faith in humanity.
What you've done for this poor, scared, little kitten is so good and worthwhile. Thank you for saving his life.
Thank you! It was a labor of love and patience. Appreciate the comment.
It must be hard to say goodbye to these kitties you work so hard with but very fulfilling, keep up the good work you have a kind heart. X
Thank you so much for giving this sweet baby a second chance at life... the world needs more people like you!!!
Dormouse is a very special guy and he worked hard to overcome his shyness, I can't take all the credit! Thanks so much for watching.
This s was a wonderful series. So happy that you are showing people how to help feral undomesticated kitties to get adopted.
You are a wonderful person, and Dormouse is a very lucky boy, bless you.
I commend you for all the wonderful and hard work that you do for these poor babies...
Lady, you have done an amazing job with this little fella. Well done you and I sincerely hope he's doing well almost a year later.
My Gracie is lying on my stomach as i write this☺
Very sweet. I can tell this little guy is just full of love. All it takes is someone who cares enough to believe in them. That's the best part.
This was a happy ending for Dormouse. When the family who eventually adopted him came to see him, the mother asked the little boy, "Well, do you like Dormouse?" and the little boy replied, "I LOVE Dormouse." I nearly burst into tears.
Thats sweet. He has a wonderful forever home. With a loving family. I love these types of stories.
Nice job. Dormouse has a great name and a wonderful personality!

I got teary eyed! As much as I would love to have this for a job, to help kitties, and other animals.. Getting them a home would probably be hard for me. Happiness and a little sad cause I would have missed that personality.
Thank you so much for these training videos and for giving Dormouse and cats like him a chance! These have been really great videos.

I like to re-watch these videos for tips with scared cats
Made me cry 😭 so happy he found a home!
This makes me cry! What an amazing and rewarding experience!
I just discovered your videos starting with the first, Dormouse video. What an amazing transformation! It took me forever to get my girl kitty, Cleo to be that social with me but the boys were lovers right away.

Youre a beautiful being, lady.
I'm so lucky to find this video while I'm frustrated when taming a feral kitten I regularly see near my apartment. I hope I can do better! Thank you so much for sharing the video. It helps a lot!
Hi there, I am glad the video is helpful. How are you doing with your kitty now?
He is so beautiful. I live his alert but innocent green eyes
yes, one of the most beautiful boys I have ever seen I think...those huge sea-green eyes of his!
I'm going to try the social box concept with my foster kittens. Thank you for the Dormouse video series, enjoyed them!
Awesome series!! you should make more of these videos!
I love Dormouse!!! If I were you, I'll cry a river when he's not around anymore 😭😭😭
Thx so much for this series cause my cats live outside (cause i live on a farm) and cause of that makes them more easy to get mated with and that means more kittens and cause of u I can tame them down a lot easyer so thank u so much

Brought a tear to me eye.
Thank you Tim... I am glad you enjoyed Dormouse's story! xoxox
This is great! Really happy to see this cute kitty transform. Hats off to your efforts!!
Awe, I'll miss seeing him on You Tube. What a good boy he is now! Great work!☺
Hi is such a good boy, and he's happy in his new home! Thanks for watching. xoxxo
Congrats on your 1000+ and growing subs, this channel is a real asset, the kitties thank you! Good luck Dormouse!

He's SO cute. Glad he found a furever home.
You and all of your work is totally amazing! Thank you.
Thank you Scott! xoxoxo
I 100% got emotional on this video, i seen him progress alot since the first video.
Handsome little boy!
oh so wonderful what you did for dormouse. thanks for your lessons

Your work is amazing and a treat to watch. God bless!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for what you do :)
much love and great job for making dormouse life happy
Thank you Kenneth! Dormouse's new mom is sending me some video of him so I will posting an update soon. Thanks for the comment! Much love to you, too.
What a cuddie... Bye bye and good luck little Doormouse!!! 😁💎💜🇬🇧
Bless you for doing this
What a sweetie pie 😍
Congratulations Dormouse!!
AAWW so so lovely, you can see the love in his eyes ;-)
Great work!! Thank you!
Thank you for the videos. I plan or hope to be a foster so this information is greatly appreciated.
Cuuute furry boi! I'm so happy for him. You guys did a wonderful job.
I can't help but wish for a full Hollywood recreation of Dormouse's journey. He's so adorable!!!
Thank you! A Hollywood production of Dormouse would be pretty great, maybe a musical? Appreciate the comment!

He IS chubbier...I just got some pics of him from his new parents! Thanks for the nice comment.
