Jinger is not a child and her parents did those daughters wrong period and God will judge them one day. I am Bible believing woman who need no one to tell how to belive in Gods word. I hate the word Religion and if you understand the Bible so does God. I know many will say I am wrong well maybe you couold be wrong too. I never make comments of these things but people really need to check out what these so call men of God say in their churches.
Jinger’s book is written very graciously I think. I’m almost finished with it and I’m so proud of her for standing up to this cult. She could’ve really gone after specific individuals but she tried to spare them but still get her point across. I really understand now why the Duggar woman are so robotic. The crazy rules they have to act like Stepford wives. Keep telling the truth, Jinger. We’re on your side.
I really hope Jinger can someday get a good secular therapist to help process her past and continuing trauma from her family and the IBLP cult. She is a brave, strong woman. Cultic, authoritarian men hate that.
I hope she was prepared for the backlash. It happens often we just don’t see it, I remember leaving my family and the backlash I got from them. +++++++++ over the last two years I am now in contact with my one brother and my nephew but it’s been 10 years before where I heard nothing but criticism and treated like I was the devil themselves. She needs support more and more from her hubby and their church and her friends…l. My bf later hubby didn’t believe me until he saw it first hand when he took me away from the colony. If he hadn’t helped me when it was bad and I was crying and upset and saying I will just go back I would have just went back remember people Jinger might not like all of her family members there r also lots she really really loves like I did and they have nothing to do with you for years. You miss births Christmas, marriages ect ect. I am now in my late 60s and still get sad with all I had missed. So o have sadness for jimger and her family and all the older kids married with families and she is going to miss a lot. Very very hard life at times
@@sharonbrown6595 I’m pretty sure she was prepared for the backlash but I know she hoped that her family would read her book and at least help some of the get out. I too hope she has many people by her side through this and I also hope that she makes even more friends after the read it and hopefully she let’s them into her life.
@@Mom-Mimi if it had been my family. No I would have said no one would read it at all. Never ever. Even if it was just my opinions. I wish her happiness the most but there will be times she will really miss the great wonderful times she had with her sisters and brothers, it’s good that no one can take away the childhood memories and I hope she thinks about the good times. It might be years after maybe her parents have died where someone of her family will talk to her. That’s what happened to me. When the last parent died I have to admit I felt free and it’s sad to say that my girls r now grown ups and said mom you seem so much more happier and I have to say I am . Even if let’s say jb and Michelle want to have contact with jinger and her family the church will say like they r no don’t do it.
While I read the last chapter of her book last night, she was aware that there would be people that disagree with her in the IBLP, She is being so brave and I am sure it will help so many because she took a chance to speak.Glad Jeremy and her friends and all us strangers cheering her on.
Katie, you woke me up about cults and I started to ask questions. Could I be in a cult? Yes, I was. Jinger was able to put words and emotions to what I was feeling. You make a good team. Good news, I'm out of the cult. I'm healing. Like Jinger I have lost family members, and friends. Thank you to you both.
It will be difficult for Jinger to completely remove the strange rules with which she grew up. She is taking a brave step, writing her book. She has been heavily brainwashed - shame on the people who did this to her! You go, Jinger!!! Keep on keeping on!!
The fact that she doesn’t go on the defense or attack them back shows how classy of a person she is. She is demonstrating what a Christian is truly supposed to be like. Although we also can’t automatically assume all attacks or comments are always directed at her but I’m sure most of them are.
I wasn’t married to him (thank God, literally) but I had a boyfriend who was INCREDIBLY patriarchal and wanted to control what I said, did, wore, where I went and whom I interacted with. He DETESTED whenever I disagreed with him about ANYTHING and eventually told me I was a “bad Christian” because I was supposed to “submit to him”. To which I said “it’s 2022, we’re not in a cult and we’re not even married!” He REALLY didn’t like that. We broke up. Thank heavens! Yes I know it was abusive. I do know that and yes I’m glad I’m OUT of that. Thankfully it didn’t take me a lifetime to leave. I feel bad I was dumb enough to fall for it for a while but live and learn. I’m so so glad he’s out of my life. That’s been my only taste of what these Duggar girls have experienced. God Bless them all, I mean that. Bravo Jinger!
Parents have the given right to protect their children from EVERYTHING!! Jinger's parents did not do this. She was made to feel guilty for what her brother did to her. I am wondering about Jim Bob in this as well. Something is very off!! How dare they bandage their guilt by making their daughter feel she is the guilty party in all of it. I am livid!!
When children become adults and no longer live at home, they’re not under their parents thumb anymore. Or at least they shouldn’t be. Especially if they’re married!
When a child turns 18 they should no longer be under anyone’s control! Once 18 wether male or female your life is yours to control and no one should feel differently!
The IBLP teaches that the umbrella of authority extends to the grand parents even of married children. So much for God’s command in Genesis to leave and cleave.
How can you call yourself a man, yet think of your wife as “less than”? How can you be a parent and raise your daughters to be “less than”, while your sons are raised up? I guess I just don’t get it.
Having a different role is not “less than.” The IBLP takes everything to an extreme, but the Scriptures are clear about the roles within a family and within the church.
I think you’re grasping to say these sermons were because of Ginger. All of the excerpts sounded like something I would hear at church any Sunday. I think this was a stretch.
I was raised under this “umbrella of authority” thought process. When it’s ingrained in you, it’s very hard to let go of it. I was raised very similarly to the way the IBLP kids are, but my family was southern baptist. My mom owned all the Duggar books. Michelle was a big role model for my mom. We ate the tater tot casserole, and did many of their traditions in our family. I was homeschooled my entire life. I lived in fear that God would strike me down with lightning if I shamed Him or did something that was a sin. This was my own mind that came up with these fears based on the strict rules I was under. I read the book “I kissed dating goodbye” and thought he was speaking 💯 truth. I’m a very different woman than my mother today. She does not defend herself or stand her ground against my dad. She believes women work in the home not outside of it. She is helpless to do anything outside of her “role”, only wears dresses, etc. I’ve worn pants my whole life, yet I remember my dad yelling at me for dressing like a “boy”. I am divorcing my husband, I have tattoos, I encourage my mom to stand up against my dad because he’s overbearing. Watching your videos have opened my eyes to how much I lived a very similar childhood as the Duggars.
I love the whole mouthy Miriam thing. The other thing David missed was the fact that Miriam, when God healed her, she sang a song of praise and thanksgiving to God and one of the most beautiful parts of the Bible is that song. The whole section of the Bible around Miriam is about redemption. I love how he actually compared Josh to Moses, talk about balls. Oh yeah, has David Waller come out of the closet yet?
My church split after a “wife swapping” scandal of the church leadership. The wealthy group left and found a tiny cinder block church. They basically built a new church and bought new sound equipment and instruments. What’s worse is most of the members left after the wealthy group moved in. They liked their small simple church. It just brings to mind JB constantly switching churches in order to take control and run the show!
My brother and his 1st wife went to a church that split over wife swapping. They took that as a sign to leave the entire church and congregation altogether. It was time since the church had taken on a cult quality. You had to bring in all credit cards and destroy them in a celebration/ritual. You had to provide the church with your bank statements so they could determine your tithe. For several weeks after leaving, they would get bombarded with phone calls and voicemails. Congregation members would come to their house knocking on doors and windows calling out to them for missing church. I told my SIL, that! is a cult. My brother and his wife still defended the church's actions even after all that. So sad.
As a mom it breaks my heart to read about Ginger’s childhood anxiety. Things like being afraid the car she’s riding in will wreck bc they are listening to worship music with drums?!! I had childhood anxiety around religion… it is overwhelming and robs you of your childhood.
An old saying I learned at chuch is,"What is said in the dark will find it's way into the light." It's not shocking that Jim Bob and Michelle are horrible parents,it's not shocking that they permitted their son to do vile things to their daughters, and I personally do not consider Jinger to be bitter because she expected her parents to protect her and they failed. I personally think the only reason that they ever reported what happened is because it happened to a non family member! Oh,and didn't Bill Gothard get sued for inappropriate contact with young ladies? He was booted from the IBLP and now people, like Gil Bates, are jumping to defend this institution after Jinger comes out with this book? I'm sorry but Gil Bates and David Waller are the very last people anyone should listen to. David Waller was Gothard's right hand man,he is married to Anna's sister and there just seems to be something off with him and Priscilla. (I.E. I think Priscilla has a mental handicap and David's so far in the closet he's finding Christmas presents.) David seems to worship Josh and I get it. He doesn't want his best friend in prison, nor does he want a negative light shown on IBLP where it seems covering up sexual misconduct is a daily event and there's probably a dang handbook on that. "Insult the women. Call them bitter." and "Say that it's their faults." Yeah, because it's not right for a woman to be a bit resentful that these men did horrible things and their parents and the church failed to do anything to protect them. They don't even seem to graps the irony of them worshipping someone like Bill Gothard, who has never been married and doesn't have children. I once heard a Gothard sermon,I was doing a research paper on the rise and fall of religious leaders and I picked Gothard due to the ease of material collection, and I remember him telling a woman,"Your body is not yours, sister." and all I could think was,"You're telling a young woman her body belongs to her husband yet you sit there having inappropriately touched young women and violated them. If their bodies are so sacred why are you fondling her and breaking the covenant she should have with her husband?" Bill Gothard got kicked out of the IBLP for this crap and Gil Bates wants to demonize Jinger? C'mon! You allowed your daughters to be around that pusbag! You covered up abuse and I'm just wondering but does Gil not see the irony in the fact that it very, very easily could've been one of his daughters who were violated by Josh Duggar or Bill Gothard or is it just easier, and clearly it's not as profitable,to cover your eyes and plug your ears and pretend that Jinger is wrong? I'm just wondering if it wasn't Kayleigh Holt the Duggars attempted to set up Josh with would it have been one of the Bates girls? People want to believe the Bates are better but when you hear about crap like this, when Gil Bates does a flippin' sermon demonizing a young woman for calling out the horrific things she suffered, and was probably blamed for,it's absolutely impossible to believe it and David Waller seems to be in love with Josh so yeah. These two idiots have about as much credibility as Bill Gothard so there's your trio. The pedo creep who touched young women and his two idiot defenders.
No surprise the cult loons have come out swinging. They’ll defend their cult to the end and slander anyone who gets in the way. Remember there’s also a money train at stake.
The sick thing is that it’s not even about God, it’s about keeping women under control. Like that dude in the clip wasn’t talking about people challenging your relationship with God, they are talking about women being mouthy.
I read her book. I don’t think she honestly realized how mis understood she’d be. She was very nice and tried not to be disrespectful to her parents. It’s completely normal to want to be independent of your parents.
It also shows Jinger’s character. She knew what would happen & the ire that would come her way & she did it anyway. Jinger is truly free to cleave to her husband and enjoy a mutually respectful mature relationship. They can raise their children far away from the IBLP. I’m happy she had Jeremy to lead her on this journey and even happier she did not lose her faith.
@@WithoutACrystalBall Booh-hoo, I was hoping more of them were moving on, especially Joy. But I think her husband is hard core into this belief system. So sad.
This breaks my heart … I to was in a cult similar to this. Not as harsh, the umbrella was taught. I have bipolar and for years, before I was diagnosed, I would told that I don’t need medication, I needed to get right with God. Thank God I got out of that kind of teaching!
The umbrella of authority gives me ptsd 😅 We went to a church (before I was atheist) that said they were “non denomination” They fully believe in the umbrella and preached it, and eventually I found out it was a fundamentalist baptist church that lost those titles in order to gain more followers. I grew up a Methodist and NEVER heard any of these types of sermons. It makes me sick. Anyone in the Bible Belt who are religious needs to be SO careful with what church you allow into your hearts, homes, and family. Jinger is right. These teachings are HARMFUL. And THIS will cause destruction within your life.
Non-denoms are almost always some sort of Baptist tradition, often fundamentalist. It’s to the point where when people use that title I say “so Baptist.” It’s usually correct. Other churches that don’t feature their denomination prominently in their name will be honest about their roots much faster and never use that word. I grew up Wesleyan and I’m still a devout Christian and I have a lot of rage for how “non-denomination” churches have hurt people and hijacked the Christian faith into a weird conservative political agenda. It’s tragic for everyone. I call it out whenever and wherever I can even when it doesn’t get as bad as the Duggar stuff.
Christian here. Yes, there are roles, but it’s not a hierarchy, men and women are equal (even with the submission aspect), and yes, children are under the parents. HOWEVER….once the child is an adult they are no longer under their their parents. Yes, if I am acting crazy my husband calls me on it and if he being crazy I call him out on it….by doing that we are not going against God’s design….we are like iron sharpening iron.
When you children turn 18 it is up to them whether they want to follow Christ or not. As parents we let them decide. I am so glad I go to a Christian church that does not have all these rules. I believe a marriage is 50-50, where a wife can correct her husband and her husband can correct her.
I was raised in a cult just like this. The reason for the preaching out to her is that THEY are scared. They are scared that others will read this abd think for themselves and get out. Believe me they are terrfied. God Bless Jinger.
We all should have the expectation of safety and maintaining our innocence and bodily integrity. Not suprised at all by the response, another big cover up and telling the survivor to essentially shut up and go away. How were the girls to "get over it" when they weren't safe and still aren't around their family? The ones that did get out have got some counseling and this is their process of healing and getting over it. Absolutely you should have an expectations of parents and siblings keeping you safe at home.
I've been away from the fundamental Christian world for many years and still found myself triggered by that Bates person. That's exactly what they do, they rule by using the tactics of fear and eternal isolation (damnation). They are powerful words that I heard from childhood. My heart still started racing and my palms got sweaty, and I'm almost 60, still having this reaction. Jinger may have gone from one fundamental institution to another, but she has definitely chosen the lesser of the two evils (in my opinion).
I was told to forgive SA, and R. All it did was make my 40s so much harder when I finally had to deal with my past. Makes me want to super glue his lips together
LOL! Hear, hear! Sometimes, there are things that are just unforgivable. Forgiveness these days has a lot of magical thinking attached to it. It is not going to make trauma just disappear. ~Anastacia in Cleveland
I watched the Bates (out of curiosity) a year ago and I remember clocking that Kelly said "Gil has been promising me for years xyz" and he looks at her and she smiles says "I know expectation is the killer of joy and appreciation!" And switch gears to moving on and being excited that he finally did something small he promised 20 years prior. You can definitely see it's a script, they just speak it smoother than the Duggars, that's why it's deceptive.
@@2maven2 they don’t have the scandal the Duggars have. One thing I can say is it looks as if some of the married kids are backing away from how they were raised.
I do think Jb looks to see who is saying what online, how else would he have found Jinger’s stolen journal on eBay? So, JB…if you’re reading this, I’m just about to order your strong, brave, courageous daughter’s book, she’s an inspiration to women all over, religious or atheist like me. You failed your daughters, lying that you didn’t remember your son inappropriately touching them! Despicable behaviour, I have absolutely zero respect for you.
As an Atheist, I am proud of her. However, I won't order her book. She calls people who have deconstructed "confused" and "lazy" in interviews. Maybe I am being too hard on her because look at what she has come out of. However, even liberal Christians have problems with we Atheists and believe all sorts of stereotypes. ~Anastacia in Cleveland
@@AnastaciaInCleveland Hi Anastacia. May I suggest backing her as much as you can. Even if belief systems are different? For instance, I have a hard time understanding no belief in God, but I figure there is a reason for it. I support you for being a kindly person.
@@pinkiesue849 I try to be kindly (thank you for YOUR kind words, BTW!), but I am sensitive about how people think about non-believers. I am proud of her. She was so brave in writing and publishing this book. No "coming out of..." is easy. I am indignant on her behalf with what was revealed in this video. I hope that she pays all this no heed. It is also my hope that she meets and actually talks to people like me now and then. Perhaps her thinking will change towards us though I know that her beliefs won't change, and that's fine. Thanks for you nice reply!
Bill Gates said it in his opening. You cannot be good enough. Exactly what Jinger said. With all the “sermons” these men have spouted, they seem to be agreeing with Jinger but mocking, THREATENING, at the same time. Insanity.
Gil Bates let Josh sleep over at house when Josh was in his early twenties, when he knew what Josh did to sisters. All of Josh's sisters and all of Gil's kids were in the house. It was a episode of 19 kids and counting. That's all you need to know about Gil Bates.
I am on the last chapter of her book. I am so proud of her for speaking out against the IBLP's theology. You have every right to feel the way you do. I'm still in therapy for the emotional abuse that I suffered from my alcoholic dad. Jinger, we all support you and Jeremy, We all love you both. You are beautiful, strong, intelligent, and brave.
During their tv show, I heard many sexual innuendos by jim bob and I always thought it was terrible that he was ok with sexual abuse of the opposite sex rather than perceived as gay.
These IBLP pulpit-speakers would've done their cult more favors by NOT addressing Jinger's book (metaphorically or otherwise) instead of piquing their curiousity, running the risk of curious members picking up the book, where likely one or more things they read may cause them to "think".😉
The fact that Gil Bates said you can't ever be good enough makes me shake my head. That's abusive and we're all good enough. This coming from a Christian.
Well we cannot be good enough to get into Heaven. That’s why we need a savior and we do have one that saved us from doing all the hard work to get there. Maybe that’s what he meant?
I always wonder why Gil Bates and the rest of Gothard's followers can't see the hypocracy of a man who never got married and had children. You're taking advice from someone who has no clue what being in a relationship or being a parent is like but yeah, yeah, that's logical. It's not like Jinger became a devil worshipper. She moved into another oppressive faith and for them to call her bitter is ridiculous! Is she bitter because she shouldn't have expected her parents to protect her from a molestor? Yeah. It's real bitter to expect your parents to do their job and care for you!
Never good enough. But free in Christ. Nothing we can do is good enough and I am absolutely free and happy in that. That’s why our perfect savior died. His death, burial and resurrection makes us good enough.
As a child, sometimes a pastor would wander the sanctuary, stopping along the way to lay hands. I was in constant dread that I would be targeted. Horrible to a child!
So very proud of Jinger and all the others Duggers, Bates, etc. can continue on letting people know what they are really like…..very non accepting of any other Christians and/or religions!
So true! I was a single parent and wouldn't have been allowed into their "religion" because I wasn't controlled by a man. Very proud of Jinger and Jill for getting out from the clutches of these "Christians".
I’ve been watching every installment you’ve made on this topic. It’s been very eye opening. I’m supportive of any of the children of these families moving on to their own lives and getting out of their oppressive families. I just have one request. Please don’t disparage all Christians. We don’t all live this kind of theology. It’s disturbing to me and I’m sure other Christians to see how these people have perverted the Scriptures. I’m Southern Baptist and I’ve never known anyone or any pastor twist the words of God in that way. We’re not perfect by any means, but most of 20:46 us are just trying to live Godly lives and raise our children to love God and love others. We’re not better than anyone else, just doing our best to be good Citizens, good neighbors, and good witnesses of the goodness of Jesus Christ.
AMEN!!!! I know I cringe when I hear about Gothard and IBLP and hate for people to turn away from Jesus thinking that’s what Christianity is. It’s not!!! That’s a horrible cult! Look at the incredible burdens they put on children when our Lord said to come to Him BECAUSE His burden is LIGHT! Jesus is the opposite of these ghastly people!! It’s such a perversion and Bill Gothard or any of those so called Bible teachers have zero understanding of the Bible. They just pick and choose and take things out of context and wouldn’t know a hermeneutic rule for interpretation if it fell from the sky. It’s just disgusting! But oh my, what they will face one day when they meet God!
“Loving parents don’t respond this way.” That’s the bottom line, you are right. Even when you don’t agree with your adult child’s choices you keep loving and supporting the heck out of them. They need to know they can ALWAYS count on that from mom and dad. And yes I am the Christian mom of 4 grown children.
Some of my adult children have made choices that make me sad, but my love for them is unconditional and they know it. I can’t begin to imagine shunning them or sending minions after them. And they still defend and support Josh. 🤯
You always love your children but that doesn’t mean supporting bad choices and them doing wrong. Even though they are grown you are always their mother and you need to guide them.
Jimbob be in a shock one day when he learn he been in a cult one day . So will David and Gil . God don’t want this for us . They follow a man not god . Thank you Katie for all you do .
Honestly, I don't think they care if they are in a cult. They like the control the have over family and friends. They are narcissistic people that believe people should follow them and do what they say. I think they know it is a cult and are using that to their advantage...
The difference between Gil and JBD is Gil can be close with kids who marry and disagree. Kelly did a video on Alyssas channel and one of the questions was about Alyssa wearing pants. Kelly said some of her godliest friends wear pants. Dresses were the Bates preference for their family, but Gil and Kelly aren't controlling like JBD.
Wow I’m now wondering if my ex was a closet IBLP member. No joke. He always said I shouldn’t place expectations upon him. And that if I do, and I’m disappointed, then it’s my fault for expecting things. Wow! So absolutely F’d UP! Thank God I’m in therapy! And thank you Katie for this video, it’s been truly transformative for me.
I recently found out my ex husband was a member. This was the only Christianity he knew. It explains a lot! Thankfully I have been divorced since 2000.
Did anybody else get major ick factor stomach turning feeling. These men are soooo afraid of a woman and our brains it just makes them soo small. They don't realize the real power is in the couples (whatever that couple looks like lgbtq) that bring both their strengths to the relationship. That's what really makes a power couple.
Actually the Moses thing gets worse… Moses was barred from entering the promised land because he went off script with bringing forth water in the desert. He was supposed to speak to a stone to bring forth water and he whacked it with a stick instead. One interpretation is that he was disobedient because he let anger get the better of him when the Israelites were being disobedient. Soooo…. Getting angry when your flock is being “mouthy” was punished by God. Apply that as you will.
It makes me glad to see Jeremy encouraging Jinger's growth out of her upbringing and those things that were just not even healthy in it and in the IBLP. You can see that the response of her parents, his friends and colleagues is only harder on those that might look to also break free of what many will see as chains. It cannot be easy for Jinjer to feel that she has been turned against by those that she called family and near family. Her brothers and sisters ought to be taking the opportunity to read her book for themselves and see if they don't think that she's right.
He's just dumb made another of money the show and businesses thanks to the series but He's just twisted upside and down in the mind he was ripe for the picking for this or any cult
From when I first heard him speak and heard what he was saying I pegged him for that adolescent dorky, goody two shoes behaving, type guy that girls are turned off by and guys don’t want to be friends with. He discovered the IBLP hierarchy where he is at the top ONLY because he is male and it solved his problem with getting a girl. And with IBLP power derived from being a husband and father the monster came to be.
Jinger is holding them accountable and they don't like it. She has 100% opened up a can of worms. Her book, is only the beginning, of what they are going to go through. Jinger you rock...
Thank you! I'm in Bible School and started yelling at the video when that guy got the story wrong. The Israelites didn't wander another 40 years for grumbling. It was because they didn't believe God would help them go into Canaan. The Israelites did grumble and it made God mad. (I have a 14 year old in a perpetually bad mood, I get it) but that's not why!!! I remember them telling me dancing was bad and when I pointed out that Miriam danced they pointed out she got leprosy. NO! yes she got Leprosy as a punishment but not for dancing.
Must be so difficult to be brought up in those belief’s. I’m very proud of Jinger to stick to convictions even though I’m sure it’s extremely difficult. I remember being brought up in my family (I was a teen in the seventies) and encouraged to have an opinion on our thoughts and beliefs….ever Friday the Family which included my 2 older brothers would get together at dinner and share are thoughts and concerns. We where never belittled for what we felt even if our parents disagreed. It was a great upbringing. I absolutely sure that Ginger and her siblings were never given such an opportunity.
I applaud Jinger and anyone, actually, who is brave enough to stand and tell their truth. If you haven't been there, you don't have a clue how hard it is to do this. I believe she has great works ahead of her. That she will be used to bring many to freedom, joy, and the Light that will eventually guide them Home.
Just keep talking fellas, you are proving every point that she makes! Way to go Jinger; keep speaking your truth! Katie, no one has done a more through job at keeping this story front and center. This is only the beginning of this damaging story! We will stand with her, you, and any family members, that is slowly working their way out of this damaging cult. Thanks Katie❣️🤩❣️
So sad that Gil Bates is one of them, and broken hearted for all the women connected to both families. What Ginger did is fantastic and I am so happy for her strength!
I've just started Jinger's book. I grew up very strict christian and this book is triggering for me. All the bible verses she uses to explain things. I understand she probably feels she has to explain that but on my iphone it's every page lol. I mean no disrespect to her and what she is getting out to the world. I love her grace and respect for what she believes.

Yes i hope she knows that we support her. I don't like religion, but this is a huge step in the right direction for her!
Soooo graciously dude. She is so gracious towards her family.
Right on
First of all , she’s not bitter…she’s taking control and overcoming her trauma…and the men folk don’t like that in a lady.
Exactly
It is the misogynist's go to word whenever one of those uppity wimmins get out of control.
I really hope Jinger can someday get a good secular therapist to help process her past and continuing trauma from her family and the IBLP cult. She is a brave, strong woman. Cultic, authoritarian men hate that.
The men don’t like losing control.
Basically they can’t handle the truth
Absolutely disgusting 🤢 I’m so happy Jinger wrote the book and it’s so awful how everyone from the IBLP is attacking her😢
My thoughts exactly
I love Ginger too 😇!!!! She's doing the real thing about Jesus 😇.
This family is sickening. Good in Jinger for standing up for herself.
Freaks
To which I said “it’s 2022, we’re not in a cult and we’re not even married!”
He REALLY didn’t like that.
She's not bitter, she's grown, has a mind of her own now and moved on.
No she doesn’t seem bitter at all!! Just very sweet and very wise.
What Jim Bob is doing is called victim blaming
When children become adults and no longer live at home, they’re not under their parents thumb anymore. Or at least they shouldn’t be. Especially if they’re married!
I asked several of the Bates children if they support Jinger and no replies at all
When a child turns 18 they should no longer be under anyone’s control! Once 18 wether male or female your life is yours to control and no one should feel differently!
The IBLP teaches that the umbrella of authority extends to the grand parents even of married children. So much for God’s command in Genesis to leave and cleave.
AMEN
@@carolbarlow8896 wow!
“Scripture” written by men. How convenient.
Miriam, your comment made me laugh out loud! I hope these so called pastors see it!

So sad.
@@rachelanderson5608 That's about as cult like as anything I've read about.
@@sherrynusbaum5913 it is and there was tons more that went on. My whole family kept telling them that their church was a cult.
A husband and wife are a team. Both should work through life together.
As a mom it breaks my heart to read about Ginger’s childhood anxiety. Things like being afraid the car she’s riding in will wreck bc they are listening to worship music with drums?!! I had childhood anxiety around religion… it is overwhelming and robs you of your childhood.
Yes, it does. There's clearly some religious scriptulosity going on in this family she had a lot of other anxiety issues too.
What is weird is that the Jewish people (which Christians are abridged from) used tambourines, drums etc. in their culture.
Go Jinger and Jill making the steps to awakening and learning that any man made religion is not real.

We went to a church (before I was atheist) that said they were “non denomination”
They fully believe in the umbrella and preached it, and eventually I found out it was a fundamentalist baptist church that lost those titles in order to gain more followers.
I grew up a Methodist and NEVER heard any of these types of sermons. It makes me sick. Anyone in the Bible Belt who are religious needs to be SO careful with what church you allow into your hearts, homes, and family.

These IBLP pulpit-speakers would've done their cult more favors by NOT addressing Jinger's book (metaphorically or otherwise) instead of piquing their curiousity, running the risk of curious members picking up the book, where likely one or more things they read may cause them to "think".😉
I sure hope Jinger is ignoring all of this!
I said same thing ignore the circus side show that she predicted would happen not worth it
The fact that Gil Bates said you can't ever be good enough makes me shake my head. That's abusive and we're all good enough. This coming from a Christian.
Well we cannot be good enough to get into Heaven. That’s why we need a savior and we do have one that saved us from doing all the hard work to get there. Maybe that’s what he meant?
This is the one thing I struggled the most with when I left the Mormon cult!!
Gil is trying to use guilt and shame to quiet anyone that would question the teachings of the group.

One interpretation is that he was disobedient because he let anger get the better of him when the Israelites were being disobedient. Soooo…. Getting angry when your flock is being “mouthy” was punished by God. Apply that as you will.
Mouthy Moses, too; I guess. :)
Moses & Elijah appeared to Jesus on the mount of transfiguration, so I guess he just didn't make it in this life, but the next.
I cant wait to read Jingers book. I'm so proud of her
Jim Bob is evil
He's just dumb made another of money the show and businesses thanks to the series but He's just twisted upside and down in the mind he was ripe for the picking for this or any cult
You got that right
From when I first heard him speak and heard what he was saying I pegged him for that adolescent dorky, goody two shoes behaving, type guy that girls are turned off by and guys don’t want to be friends with.
Wouldn't Aaron as older brother be the higher authority, according to Gothard's hierarchy?
Ssshhh-- don't let facts get in Gothard's or Gil's way...
Of course but that interferes with the Gospel according to Gothard.
Sit down Jimbo
Go Jinger!!
This passive aggressive pastoring is just abuse. Let’s call it what it is.
The guest speaking at the Duggar church sounds like Chris Farley. Can we get that pasture to say “in a van by the river!” 😂
It would be classic if he smacked the dias and it split in two! Like Chris on the van by the river !!! And then he fell onto the floor!!!😂😂😂😁😁
Omg. I love that on SNL. I’m laughing just thinking about it.
Oh dear God, I just can't with that man!! Taking away a woman's voice, just like in the Mormon church
I'm very proud of Jinger. She had a voice, however, she was silenced by those teachings. This Intel doesn't shock me in the least
I'm so happy she wrote this book I cannot wait to buy it and read it I am just waiting for payday
I wish someone could go undercover in one of their churches.
Go Katie!
She is so graceful in speaking out and graceful in protecting her family's dignity
The Doggers and friends behavior isn’t just to punish Jinger, it’s also a warning to all the other kids.
IMO, Anna's Bro-inlaw is definitely on the D.L.
My Son came out 12 years ago. So, trust me ... I have some insight.
In my former church the term they used was “undermining”
Not at all surprised! Pet peeve when “sermons” target specific individuals and it is common.
Living in fear is not living ,how very sad,
Must be so difficult to be brought up in those belief’s.
What is rarely mentioned is that many of these men are not too bright. It makes that umbrella of authority mighty leaky.
I am glad she spoke out in her way. It is hard to let go of believes that hurt .
It's absolutly horrible!
