    So, the Melbourne rail system crosses "the vast Australian landscape"? I missed that part in your video. I only saw examples of one local rail link.

    For 125 billion dollars I thought this was going to be high speed rail line between Australian cities. But it is just Melbourne 😅😅😆😆🤣. Only 90 km for 125 billion, are fcuking kidding me on??!! This seems like shocking missmanagement of funds for a cost this high.

      Australians are paid well and so labour costs a lot of money to make these projects happen. Also when rates are going up, the cost of these projects increases.

      It's not actually $125bn.
      That number came from the opposition, and was hugely biased in how it was created.
      It includes operations and future replacements and maintenance for fifty years following construction.

    A little optimistic. SRL has a lot of issues such as a circuitous route and lack of station nodes compared to distance. Stage One should have at least two additional intermediate stations and could actually be shortened by about 2 km if a shorter route was taken, but still with interchange at all radial lines. If SRL were instead to be established as a medium capacity LRT Metro it could be delivered earlier and at some cost saving. It could have more stations, but have ROW with the use of arterial road medium alignments, elevation and some tunneling / underground stations etc. There will be hundreds of thousands of homes in suburbs where the line simply passes beneath with to access. The line should firstly have a direct interchange at Southland rather than a 400m egress. Then before the depot a surface station could be in place at a vast industrial zone which could be further developed for transit oriented dev. and an elevated station several km south, before Clayton would add extra passenger attraction. The Monash / Notting Hill - university precinct has its station node in an area which is speculative rather than directly at campus / bus interchange and then the route travels in a highly circuitous alignment to Glen Waverley. This node was simply chosen through lobbyists and land speculators, rather than centering the corridor at My Waverley, more direct in line towards the terminus for Phase One at Box Hill. The first phase if it took the direct route from Monash to Box Hill with intermediate stations at Mt Waverley and Burwood would cut up to 2 km from the line, achieve radial line interchange and cost effectively savings could have been directed to completing the line at Doncaster Hill - where a railway station has been proposed for decades. For a fraction more of the overall cost for Phase One up to 3 extra stations could be placed along the line and a more direct route taken, while achieving the directive of the SRL to connect all the Eastern suburbs radial lines.

      that's what happens when you give a poorly written, researched, and checked script to an AI voiceover and don't bother to run through the final video before posting. Blaming hospitalisation of heart and asthma patients on car emissions instead of the deadly Asthma Thunderstorms full of pollen is lazy researching.
      besides that, good video for the uninitiated.

    It's a shocking waste of money. Ask anyone on the street here in Melbourne and no one wants it. With any luck it won't happen. Plus they never mention the fact it is not one continuous track. You will have to change trains 3 or 4 times to make a full circuit. Insane engineering indeed.

  • @DeansVlogVisionView
    @DeansVlogVisionView Год назад +13

    This video is wildly inaccurate, current estimates has the project (SRL East AND North) costing $29.214 billion in 2022 dollars. One questionable report had the figure at $125 billion but that includes 30 years of asset expenditure after opening to 2085. Unfortunately certain political individuals saw this figure and have been slapping it all over the place. I think its a good project but certain elements of the north section should be elevated as there are some wide roads like Mahoneys Rd and Camp rd. I also think Doncaster should have been included in the SRL east project as that area has been crying out for rail access since the 70s.

    The current Victorian infrastructure investment is probably the first time in hundred years that a government is being proactive rather than waiting for congestion to be so painful they react.
    The opposition when last in government sat on their hands while rail infrastructure aged and started breaking down. They actually held a colouring competition for Flinders Street station. That was their biggest investment idea ever.

    Still heaps of debate in Melbourne whether this project is worth the price tag, while the bulk of us continued struggling being stuck in CBD traffic almost every single day. Would be entirely happy to keep my car in the garage by then.

    I think it is shelved now, too many vested interests for little gain. A few metro lines would be cheaper and far more effective and would take in the Airport. There are many heavy rail lines that could effectively be adapted for metro, just as Sydney is doing with the Bankstown line and has already done with the Epping - Chatswood line. A very good use of funds.
