Big E should just have talked to magnus, if the throne was meant for him. If the emperor had simply shown Magnus the truth of the warp, None of the heresey wouldve happened.

Storytelling-wise, that wouldn't work because every story needs a semblance of a three-act structure.
Lore-wise, even if Big E informed all of his sons about the truth of the warp, the Chaos Gods already had their sights on humanity, especially on Big E because he supposedly double-crossed them. So some form of great tragedy would still befall on the Imperium.
But still, I feel you. It would be nice to see a happy Imperium where Big E and his sons never succumbed to the warp and have successfully conquered the galaxy.

Just telling Magnus would likely not be enough. All the primarchs who fell did so because of character flaws or insecurities being preyed upon by the Chaos gods, just like what happens with everyone who falls. A moment of weakness is all it takes, and you're screwed. Every single time. Magnus' problem was that he always HAD TO find out things himself. He arrogantly thought that he could handle anything, and so he dove into everything. His headstrong nature served him well until it damned him. So even if the Emperor told him, he would've gone too far on something else. That's the tragedy of his character. He wasn't evil, just too proud of his own ability to figure things out. And just like the other fallen primarchs, he blames others for his own failings.

    • @Thommy2n
      @Thommy2n 17 дней назад

I'm willing to bet that even if Dad told him the full picture, Magnus would have gone.
"OK, but I'm made of different stuff Dad! I'm at a whole other level. I can handle anything!"
And done something even more reckless.

My biggest problem with WH40K lore is that somebody with the intelligence and experience of the Emperor could never have committed the blunders that are required for the events of the Horus Heresy to unfold as they did.

A rune priest accusing anyone of witchcraft is rather hilarious. I'm sure Russ knew that they were really psykers. And even if he had convinced himself, Big E MUST HAVE known. Dorn knew, and confronted Russ about it at some point. I feel that the Emperor allowing the Space Wolves to keep using rune priests must have contributed to the dissatisfaction of some. Its a testament to Magnus' loyalty to the Emperor that it didn't seem to upset him.

Magnus' story and the fate of his Sons is the greatest tragedy of all the Legions. The Emperor created Magnus and the 15th to be psykers and then he betrayed them at Nikaea. Next, Leman accepted without question when Horus amended the Emperor's arrest order to execution because of his personal enmity for Magnus. Then, Malcedor implanted Magnus' soul shard, that which contained Magnus' goodness and nobility into an Astartes, thereby preventing Magnus from reclaiming it and possibly gaining redemption for himself and his Legion. Finally, Ahriman's Rubrik virtually destroyed the remnants of his Legion. Magnus and the 15th is a tale of betrayal and unjust bigotry by their own. They are my favorite because they were the victims of the Empire.

People love sanguinius, the lion and vulkan, but in actuality the entire imperium could have been led by perturabo, magnus and guilliman. Perturabo would be the master of technology slowly but surely equipping humanity to usurp the throne of the machine god over a century or so. Guilliman would basically run the imperium and magnus would be the psychic force.

Great video. I often think this is one of the most easily avoided tragedies in 40k. Emperor didn't need to spill the whole can of beans, but he could have at least said he was working in something good that required total isolation.
Also, the Emperor was somewhat leading Magnus on. Why even bother to share any secrets with Magnus if you're going to shut him down?

Except the Emperor did that. He told Magnus to trust him, He told Magnus never deal with daemons, He warned Magnus constantly about delving into the Warp. Magnus knew about Chaos.
This is why Magnus' fall is impossible to avoid.
Because Magnus knew everything, according to Thousand Sons. He just didn't care, because he thought he knew better. He thought he was stronger than the Emperor because he fought daemons when he went into the Warp; but the Emperor never fought daemons. He never needed to.
Magnus was told "here be dragons" and went "Oh neat, I wanna meet them!" He deserved what he got.

Yeah. He was already fractured at that point. It was cool that he was trying to treat the humans well while infiltrating the city on the way to the palace. He was getting on okay with the Emperor until he said his legion was too damaged to be saved, and he'd give him a new legion. It's weird he freaked out so hard, because he kind of stopped caring about them not too long after.

The only thing magnus truly did wrong, cause he should have known better, was to break the warp defence by striking a deal with an unknown entity.
If he were smart, he woukd have adressed the closest astropaths outside the barrier to relay this urgent message, maybe even demanding the emperor sparing a few minutes to call him back asap.
That woukd have been the best option to ensure a quick notification about horus towards terra/emperor and not fucking up a psychic defense, which probably isnt there for fun 🙄
But i overall still blame emps.
Magnus would have been wise enough to listen and understand.
F the wolfs, especially Leman, f horus, f emps.
Magnus deserved more trust even before all this transpired.

The great powers bestowed to Magnus at his very inception are in stark contrast of all his failures at understanding and and utilize them err...properly. The writers kind of couldn't make their minds about the red guy and his continous plot failures are quite comical as setup. The guy is supposedly way above even his brothers in using the power which separates the normies from the demigod primarchs and the primarchs themselves from their daddy the god Emperor but he is beaten left and right by any named character in the franchise haha. How would one so gifted in the magic( warp) to be considered almost on level with the Big E minus the thosands of years of expirience ofc would not for example sence the very gods presence in the warp itself?
