- Song: Dissident agressor
From the "Sin after sin" album (1977).
Also on Slayer's South of Heaven (1988).
Lyrics:
Grand canyons of space and time universal
My mind is subjected to all
Stab! Bawl! Punch! Crawl!
Hooks to my brain are well in
Stab! Bawl! Punch! Crawl!
I know what I am, I'm Berlin
Through cracked, blackened memories of unit dispersal
I face the impregnable wall
Stab! Bawl! Punch! Crawl!
Hooks to my brain are well in
Stab! Bawl! Punch! Crawl!
I know what I am, I'm Berlin
Exploding, reloading, this quest never ending
Until I give out my last breath
I'm stabbing and bawling, I'm punching and crawling
Hooks to my brain are well in
I'm stabbing and bawling, I'm punching and crawling
I know what I am, I'm Berlin Видеоклипы
Judas Priest made the original song in 1977 and even back then it was way heavier than the cover version by one of the heaviest band in the world. Hats off to Priest.
We never realised at the time just how important and how influential Priest really were.
Judas Priest are without doubt the true Metal pioneers, and they still are punching out stonking great albums.
And maiden , all the big thrash bands have priest , maiden ,motorhead and the sex pistols running through their blood .
The Halford's scream is the reason why heavy metal was made... Hail to the Metal Gods!!!!
Priest was way ahead of their time. 1977?! They are way underrated as the true metal creators.
Black Sabbath was playing metal in 1969 lmao
@@RandyRhoadsRules3 everyone knows that. But Priest has more of the the guitar sound, vocals and double bass related to when modern metal came out.
There is nothing underrated about Judas Priest aka Metal Gods man :-)
@@borgware compared to Maiden they are underrated
They are not underrated. Everyone who knows real metal knows Judas Priest is the kings. The mainstream only hear about sabbath. But who cares? Metal should stay as it is. Without the fucking bullshit mainstream attention.
The drums on the original are just phenomenal. It's sad that Simon Phillips was only on this album for a couple of songs. He clearly had a lot of talent; to make legendary metal beats like that in 1977... Jazz drummers are something else!
I love Slayer's idea of playing a high guitar note during the chorus, rather than trying to sing as high as Rob. It works really well.
Nothing beats the original but you got to give credit to Slayer for covering such a great song by a great Band.
Priest were a massive influence on Kerry King
And that's about it. They payed tribute to their influence. But the cover is horribly boring.
You have to listen to the previous song(Here Come The Tears) and then go into this classic to get the whole effect on Priest's Sin After Sin. KK Downing's solo is unmatchable!
Yes, that tension that builds slowly between these two songs is one of the most EPIC moments ever.
Incredible vocals by Rob Halford.
Can't beat PRIEST. Slayer did a damn good job with the cover though!
i love this bands!!!!!!
JUDAS PRIEST THE BEST BAND EVER!
slayer the fathers of thrash
amazing cover
PRIEST PRIEST PRIEST!!!!!uncomparable version!judas priest kick ass!!!the best band of the world!!!the original version rules!!!!LOVE PRIEST!!
Judas Priest, Metal Gods!!!
Listen, Slayer reached cult status band without winning any Grammy award until very recently, reached more than 3 million albums sell worldwide without MTV support...Slayer is a band who has earned the position they have into rock without selling out.
God listen..
To Judas Priest..!
Hail Judas Priest!!
Slayer did such an amazing tribute to a Priest classic !!!
Judas forever, excellence of the metal ....yearrrrrrr
Both are fucking amazing.
SLAYER and JUDAS PRIEST... Two of the greatest metal bands of all time... Like chocolate and peanut butter.\m/
Slayer's version was heavy for 1988, but Priest's version is heavy for all time!
It wasn't very heavy for 1988, whole South Of Heaven is were Slayer started to lose it
@@paravan2000hell awaits was the pinnacle of their career. One of the most evil albums ever made.
I could listen to both versions all day.
The JP version has a lot of things the Slayer version does not have: great vocals, awesome bass, and you can sense the time and creative effort put into it. I hate to say it, but the guitars also sound MUCH better - more natural and genuine. It comes from a bygone era when every instrument on the track was EQ'd to make room for the other instruments, and drums weren't recorded in a way that they would just ring out endlessly. It's just a classier recording.
Toastrodamus
Don't hate to say it. Why? Be proud!
Judas Priest. The reason is Glenn Tipton and KK Downing are master's. You should have known that already!
Eh. I'm a Slayer fan and grew up on their version. So, I'm biased... but I've got to give a hat tip to the writers. It's a great song, regardless of what version you hear. I went to a Halestorm show a few years back (never really heard them before that) but when they played this, I was glad to hear them play something I was familiar with.
ditto, knew the Slayer version first. so biased.
Priest won a Grammy for this song and rightly so it's just the perfect metal song but Slayer did a fantastic cover.
I prefer Araya's vocal style and knew the slayer version first, but yeah, the original kicks ass too. I couldn't believe it was from so long ago when I first heard it. Way ahead of their time!
Very good respect shown by Slayer to one of their idols . .
One was good, the other..Awsome!!!
The Priest is and always will be.. The Best!
One of the best covers ever. One of the best classic Priest songs. What's not to like?
Double dose of Timelessness ...
Priest is THE BEST! KEEP UP THE FAITH
ofc JP is better it is original, but for a band like SLAYER to do this it is a big respect. I love them both. When Slayer make cover in there albums EVER?
I saw Slayer open up for Judas Priest in 1989!
They have an entire album of cover songs that is really good. Check out "Undisputed Attitude" as soon as you possibly can. One original Slayer track and a bunch of punk/ hardcore covers.
@@bradleyblunt7088 Ram It Down tour in Seattle, 1988. Fucking incredible. I've seen Priest 6 times from 82-2005 and that was their best show. Slayer was wicked too.
we all know kerry king is a big fan of slayer. i swear i heard KK's influence over Kerry's solo.
@@GaryBowen00 This was album all covers DA is in the regular slayer album!
Both are great! For it's time, this song was so ahead of all the other "metal "band's!
Remember when it first came out in the US. Rocked then and now.
Mind blown
Tom doesn't stand a chance against Rob's insane vocals.
I agree..and Simon Phillips iconic drum track...take the original to another level, imo.
SLAYER forever... \m/
EPIC!
YES! VERY TRUE!
Awe, I was expecting to see both bands playing this.
Correct you are! Jazz drummer Simon Phillips filled in for the studio sessions of Sin After Sin in 1977. He was asked to tour with the band and declined.
Binks filled in on the Sin After Sin tour of 1977, and recorded with Priest for Stained Class (1978) and Killing Machine (1978).
Because of how inspired the original Priest performance is, Slayer seems lifeless in comparison.
Priest is the WINNER all the way!
the starting scream is so eerie
NOTHING compares to Halford's voice!
Priest is a greta band, but Halford puts them on another planet.
geil .............
Hey! I missed this somehow! Cool...I like it!
What an EVIL guitar tone that was for 1977.
Oh my, Yes.
Judas priest!!!!!
Priest way way superior on this one.
damn i didnt realize how good this song was.
awwwwwwww judas yeahhhh!!
Both versions are fantastic. But the original has the edge. So ahead of its time.
I have not heard much of Slayer to be honest but it sounds like a bunch of kids (at the time) covering a favourite song. Good luck to them.
Simon Phillips is an incredible drummer, not many guys stand a chance against him. He was only 19 when he recorded this with JP.
This had possibly the heaviest guitar sound I'd ever heard at the time.
Judas Priest where an awesome band that I'm just re-discovering again.
Thank God for music!
I know, rambling comment.
Judas Priest in special Rob Halford voice, is better by far!
The KING! That's who!
slayer are the best!
No hay comparacion: Judas Priest es el mejor!!!!!
mostly because Halford's vocals are unmatched
JUDAS PRIEST!!!
Judas made that song their bitch!! Especially Halford he's incredible on it,this song is from 1977,they where so ahead of their time with that one.Pure Metal!
No, because metal was in its infancy & yet Priest's original version is MUCH, MUCH heavier than Slayer's cover. Priest's was by far the heaviest music around in 1977.
It is waaaaay heavier and darker than Slayer version
and one of the greatest metal tracks of all time, period. I consider it and "Am I Evil" as quintessential metal.
haha KING is a legend, those oldschool glasses hes got on at 1;15 haha sick!
after listening to the remake by slayer all you have to the scream at the beginning of the original and it blows it out of the water
Judas Priest!
Both songs were on arguably each bands best albums.
Not sure how, but somehow I completely missed that this was originally a Judas Priest song. Have to begrudgingly agree with those who say Priest did it better, but damn, it's a kick ass fucking song either way.
JUDAS PRIEST!
The Slayer percussion pushes the song, rushing the tempo....leaves you hanging
Come on youngsters. Considering that Priest's version is from 32 YEARS ago, when rock was on its deathbed during the sad time known as disco, Priest's version clearly kicks the crap out of Slayer's respectful but rather pedestrian effort.
PRIEST all the fuckin way!!!!
\m/ - - \m/ Headbang! Awesome song!
My teen yrs in Nor Cal...
Nice slideshow
but you know what cheap trick has a song called "auf wiedersehen" that anthrax covered it fits perfectly and man is it heavy
they are both amazing but Judas priest earns my respect more due to it's one of the first heavey metal bands i have listened to.
Slayer did a good job on the cover and they are the most amazing thrash metal band i've listened to
hey dudes both versions kickass!
Thanks for the correction i didn't know that!
the priest original is the best version
Fair play dethbucker. Thanks for the info. I'm not intereststed in thrash metal though - so I don't want to learn the history. I'm too busy listening to all sorts of rock music to listen to different types of metal. I like the 50s, 60s and 70s most. This is why I like Judas Priest. They had something to do with rock the first time round - before punk. Believe me - the last thing I would want to do is insult Accept - I love them.
All the best
I love both bands .Slayer had said countless times that Judas Priest are their main musical influence
Yup, and 'Unleased In The East' too, which was his last album with Priest
Judas Priest, Dissident Agressor
3:12-5:44 the most metal thing in the 70's
As much as I love Slayer it's no contest. The Slayer cover is very good but the original Priest version had me saying holy fuck that's awsome.
I take it back, I have heard this version before but years ago i didnt know this was a judas priest song.
Slayer knows a great Priest song when they hear one...Cool as fuck!
Priest version! No comparison!
All hail the Metal Gods.
PRIEST!
Slayer-guitars,drums
Priest-Vocals
I'm a Slayer fan, but yeah, you can't compete with the the mighty PRIEST!!!!
JW
Both are badass even halestorm covered this.. but the original and slayers cover my favs
Ha Ha!
God listens to Slayer! Genius!
REEEEEEEED CANYONS! Rob is God.
Its not Les Binks it Simon Phillips on drums .
the master
@@toparky2470 the master of masters!🤘
@MrSkuldugery I will be at that show as well. Trust me, I have seen Priest over a dozen times, and the venue cannot contain them. The shaw will be no different
Priest win!!! No competition.
Judas ruleia... msm com toda qualidade do slayer,n se compara
Wowza! I thought when you redo someone else's song you were sposed to make it sound better than the original. As much as I love Slayer...Oh my God! Priest Nails it - the song they wrote to begin with! No need for a redo. And I don't think any other bands out there should try it at home.
The few times that Slayer has ever done a cover song, either recorded or live, it has always been as a tribute. They never intended to "make it their own", thereby capitalizing on it. Just look at their live cover of Witching Hour by Venom. Both bands are awesome, as are both versions of the song.
O_O
Judas Priest was so powerful on this vid...
Slayer can`t compare to this...
