Merideth could nit even think about starting a new love life with anyone for almost 3 yrs she focused on her kids and work , then when she realized she was still young and could have be Dateing and have a realationship with someone she still kinda fought it and she’s never going to find what she and Derek had and she knows that but she is still young enough to have a new kind of realationship with someone of her same talent respect in the medical field and age , deluca was a diversion after Riggs who I thought was a real possibility but didn’t pan out and that’s ok , I really wish the Dr that she saved from the kidney transplant , I wish he would come back and stay around they had great chemistry he would be good for merideth someone she could really relate too , but it’s whatever the writers write we will wait and see

I heard he was really unpleasant on set as well and I just think that the best thing was to kill him, but I would have loved a more honouring death for him. I don’t think he just should have left the show because the fans would want him to come back etc. But I think they could have made him a much better exit

Never bothered to mention he was married, dumped Mer and got back with his wife then cheated on his wife with Meredith. Yeah, that's a great guy. It's more of a miracle and Meredith being forgiving that they ever got together. And I never got the Mcdreamy thing. Derek was just okay to me. But I did not dislike Derek I just don't think he deserves too much praise for being a good guy. Well, I guess he evolved into one over the years.

To be real I cried so much at dereks dead but I think dereks dead was the best thing what could happen to meredith and her storyline because after this she was so much stronger, won the Harper Avery and stand for so many strong widows and strong moms who raise their kids without a father and still be so freaking successful 🥺
I’ll be perfectly okay if they end the show and it’s just Mer and her kids. I never liked her and DeLuca together, (love him on his own) but she’ll never have the respect for him like she did for Derek. She deserves to be happy after losing the love of her life, but that doesn’t mean she has to end up with someone for that to happen. Her and Andrew are on different levels of life almost and I don’t feel their vibe.
Meredith smiles a lot less now. And when she does, it’s kind of shallow. Maybe it’s just me, but her eyes used to twinkle and her whole face would light up when she was with Derek. Doesn’t she seem kind of...hollow these past few seasons? Like I can physically feel her emptiness.

The episode where the doctor who killed Derek was there and Meredith yelled at him made me cry because if he had gotten the head CT he would’ve lived. Then they could’ve grown old together. I remember getting so angry at how calm she was when she had them pull the plug. Like there was no sobbing or screaming like when he was shot or when she thought he'd died in the plane crash. It just pissed me off that she barely cried.

A week later it hit me & I started sobbing uncontrollably in my car on my way home from work. I had a mental breakdown and had to go on medical leave to heal myself from the pain. I'm crying now even as I type this comment and it's 5 years later.
Since I realized that DeLuca and Meredith would be a couple I stopped watching Grey's Anatomy. After years. It doesn't make any sense after what she had with Derek. I think that they should ended the show at that point.
If you still haven’t watched Season 16 you should at least watch Episode 8 when Meredith has to face the review board. The Doctor that killed Derek is on the board.
They should’ve ended the show after Derek died. At this point they’re dragging it on. They’ve lost almost all of their lead actors from the past, the people who made greys anatomy special, it’s just not the same anymore. Once Derek died, I watched a few more episodes then stopped. It just wasn’t the same
That episode when Derek died was the worst episode of my life. I had never cried, sobbed, so hard in my life. Gave myself a migraine from hyperventilating bc I cried so hard. I just didn’t see it coming.
I never cried so hard after Derek's death, until that "illusion" scene came out. She seeing him like he was just in front of her again, besides her sweetloving speech and the Merder theme in the background... It is a scene as beautiful as painful. They were SO epic 💔💜
ugh I’m so upset that he is gone but she has grown so beautifully when he died and I always have a feeling that Derek is just looking down on her, his children, and the hospital. It’s absolutely beautiful the relationship had and no one could replace that. DeLuca got upset because she told her feelings. She told him and he felt like he would replace Derek. No one will replace Derek but Derek. I hope she does find someone better and mature but nothing close to Derek. A boost a fresh air while always being on her tippy toes. Love this show

The part of this that made me ball my eyes out was when Riggs says that Meredith was scared to let Derek go. You can’t just let go of the love of your life. The father of your children. That’s not how love works
Why? Why take Meredith's love of her life away? What did Derek do to deserve that end? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. He loved his wife, loved his children and loved his work. He was happy, happy because life smiled at him. And Meredith was happy, she had it all. She had by her side the person she had always loved and with that she had had three beautiful children. I correct myself, two since fate wanted to take away Derek's chance to see HIS son. He was one of the most generous, sweet, charismatic and responsible people I had ever seen. He was a fantastic man and deserved to live his life with Meredith, without leaving a huge void in her heart. I know I'm probably exaggerating since it's a TV series, but I was so fond of Derek that I considered him... real. He had saved four people that day, and if only that ignorant surgeon had done the tac as Penny had said now Derek would be alive. The incompetence of those people killed a wonderful man, an exceptional husband, a fantastic father and an excellent surgeon. No one will ever be like Derek and we will forever remember him as a hero.
Derek was the one that gave her hope. He was such a big part of Meredith’s life, especially when she was dealing with depressing self-worth and slightly suicidal thoughts. Derek literally changed her into another person and there will never be anyone else for Meredith. He was there through her darkest times and knew her better than her own parents. I just can’t believe they took that away from her.

Such a beautiful yet heartbreaking love story. I still miss these two. The only one who came remotely close to possibly taking Derek's place was Dr. Nick. Too bad the producers couldn't entice the actor who portrayed him to join the show. He would have been great. The chemistry between him and Meredith was off the chain.
This is such an amazing edit! It really showed how great their love story was, and how even when it wasn’t perfect their love for each other never changed.

This is beautiful, so many tears...The first time Meredith walked in and saw Derek holding little Zola in his arms and kind of slowly dancing...I loved Derek before that, but THAT put him on a whole other level. Then the scene when she can't remember their last kiss and he describes it as soft and tender always gets me, I wonder if she'd remember their very last, last kiss now. Though I would like Meredith to find someone to enjoy the rest of her life with, (if not Nick, which doesn't seem likely now) I don't think she will "look" the same with any one but Derek. It's just not easy to find multiple "epic" loves in your life. Then again; this is the woman who "died" like 12 times in 20 years, so anything's possible I suppose. LOL
i feel like at the start these two were trying to avoid each other bc they both know that the relationship will be bad for them if they continue that way but the way i see it is that the more they we’re trying to avoid each other the more it was hard to pretend like everything was fine... mer&derek we’re both afraid to fall even hard to one or another-

Meredith smiles a lot less now. And when she does, it’s kind of shallow. Maybe it’s just me, but her eyes used to twinkle and her whole face would light up when she was with Derek. Doesn’t she seem kind of...hollow these past few seasons? Like I can physically feel her emptiness.

Derek was the light of her world and she was the light of his world. They have the greatest on screen love story that I have ever seen!! The episode where the doctor who killed Derek was there and Meredith yelled at him made me cry because if he had gotten the head CT he would’ve lived. Then they could’ve grown old together. And as Derek once said die when there 110 years old in Meredith’s arms💚💚❤️❤️

I remember getting so angry at how calm she was when she had them pull the plug. Like there was no sobbing or screaming like when he was shot or when she thought he'd died in the plane crash. It just pissed me off that she barely cried.

A week later it hit me & I started sobbing uncontrollably in my car on my way home from work. I had a mental breakdown and had to go on medical leave to heal myself from the pain.

Since I realized that DeLuca and Meredith would be a couple I stopped watching Grey's Anatomy. After years. It doesn't make any sense after what she had with Derek. I think that they should ended the show at that point.
If you still haven’t watched Season 16 you should at least watch Episode 8 when Meredith has to face the review board. The Doctor that killed Derek is on the board.

They should’ve ended the show after Derek died. At this point they’re dragging it on. They’ve lost almost all of their lead actors from the past, the people who made greys anatomy special, it’s just not the same anymore. Once Derek died, I watched a few more episodes then stopped. It just wasn’t the same

That episode when Derek died was the worst episode of my life. I had never cried, sobbed, so hard in my life. Gave myself a migraine from hyperventilating bc I cried so hard. I just didn’t see it coming.
I never cried so hard after Derek's death, until that "illusion" scene came out. She seeing him like he was just in front of her again, besides her sweetloving speech and the Merder theme in the background...
It is a scene as beautiful as painful. They were SO epic 💔💜
ugh I’m so upset that he is gone but she has grown so beautifully when he died and I always have a feeling that Derek is just looking down on her, his children, and the hospital. It’s absolutely beautiful the relationship had and no one could replace that. DeLuca got upset because she told her feelings. She told him and he felt like he would replace Derek. No one will replace Derek but Derek. I hope she does find someone better and mature but nothing close to Derek. A boost a fresh air while always being on her tippy toes. Love this show

i don’t care what anyone says she will always and ONLY love derek. he’s the love of her life soulmate,everything she will never love anyone else.
Why? Why take Meredith's love of her life away? What did Derek do to deserve that end? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. He loved his wife, loved his children and loved his work. He was happy, happy because life smiled at him. And Meredith was happy, she had it all. She had by her side the person she had always loved and with that she had had three beautiful children. I correct myself, two since fate wanted to take away Derek's chance to see HIS son. He was one of the most generous, sweet, charismatic and responsible people I had ever seen. He was a fantastic man and deserved to live his life with Meredith, without leaving a huge void in her heart. I know I'm probably exaggerating since it's a TV series, but I was so fond of Derek that I considered him... real. He had saved four people that day, and if only that ignorant surgeon had done the tac as Penny had said now Derek would be alive. The incompetence of those people killed a wonderful man, an exceptional husband, a fantastic father and an excellent surgeon. No one will ever be like Derek and we will forever remember him as a hero.
Derek was the one that gave her hope. He was such a big part of Meredith’s life, especially when she was dealing with depressing self-worth and slightly suicidal thoughts. Derek literally changed her into another person and there will never be anyone else for Meredith. He was there through her darkest times and knew her better than her own parents. I just can’t believe they took that away from her.

Such a beautiful yet heartbreaking love story. I still miss these two. The only one who came remotely close to possibly taking Derek's place was Dr. Nick. Too bad the producers couldn't entice the actor who portrayed him to join the show. He would have been great. The chemistry between him and Meredith was off the chain.

This is beautiful, so many tears...The first time Meredith walked in and saw Derek holding little Zola in his arms and kind of slowly dancing...I loved Derek before that, but THAT put him on a whole other level. Then the scene when she can't remember their last kiss and he describes it as soft and tender always gets me, I wonder if she'd remember their very last, last kiss now. Though I would like Meredith to find someone to enjoy the rest of her life with, (if not Nick, which doesn't seem likely now) I don't think she will "look" the same with any one but Derek. It's just not easy to find multiple "epic" loves in your life. Then again; this is the woman who "died" like 12 times in 20 years, so anything's possible I suppose. LOL
