This is one of the best works that Tchaikovsky ever composed and it,s a shame that most people don,t find it memorable or care for it, it is spectacular and sensational !!!!!
Pytor Tchaikovsky was the unquestioned greatest nineteenth century composer, as Dmitri Shostakovich was to the twentieth. Tchaikovsky passed away so relatively young at 53. if only we had him for another 15-20 years more.
The final movement always gives me chills. It is a tradition for my school to play that part of the piece as a closer to our major concert. This is my favorite symphony of all time.
Agreed....also I love the slow majestic tempo in this interpretation...one of the very best ever. Wonder if Bernstein ever conducted this? I liked his slow majestic tempo in some London recording of 'Die Meistersinger'
When i lesten to Tchaikovsky music ....composition after composition ....I realize that the most of nowadays music have inspired from his wonderful imagination .
It should be performed more often, it’s magical! Perfectly captures that winter feeling. Love the Nutcracker and will forever love it, especially in winter, but his first symphony is so underrated.
Bella! i was thinking the same thing! at first i thought this track would quiet and slow to calm him down, but now i’m thinking Tchaiko choose it bc it reflects how Tasuku was feeling overwhelmed? It might be a possibility since Tasuku himself thought “But its the middle of summer” i.e. the song doesn’t fit the situation or the correlation of it isn’t clear... I don’t know! gah! i’m terrible at analyzing literature but this manga makes me want to try anyway!!
@The Truth Mature and tragic are words that beg the question of the purpose of music. Music is meant for EMOTIONAL ENJOYMENT and both the 4th and 6th sicken me to the gut (except foe mvts. 3 of each)!
@The Truth I like the 5th, personable and melodic, but Tschaikowsky's negativity drags me into the muck. I prefer the expression of MIAskowsky!!!!!!!!!!
Tchaikovsky had a gift like no other.

The mind boggles as to what he could achieved had he died in 1913 instead of 1893. When he died at age 53 he was at the peak of his creative powers.

Despite being an avid listener of Tchaikovsky's music this is the first time I've heard this symphony.

A great Tchaikovskynian
Orchestral sound.
Honestly I wouldn't call myself a classic music fan, but this, especially the first part, is incredibly rich while still easy to the taste.
Musically - without realizing it - it's the Summit of your life experience.....
This was an enlightening track to listen to
Thanks a lot for the extra info you gave in the introduction
Sooo heavenly
good.
I don't listen to classical much and I know this is a special piece :)
This and Mahler,s Symphony no. 1 are among the greatest compositions of all time Believe it !!!!!
deserves to be heard more often--wintry enchantment--
Sensacional! Adoro Tchaikovsky!!
Sheer genius ! Beautiful !
Nice performance and recording. Thanks for sharing.
I love this channel. Thanks for giving us this great symphony!
A glamorous
performance.
I love this piece, and 1812 overture
Merci pour toutes ces découvertes / redécouvertes.
So good,so beauty;like it's compeser.
Truly magnificent and soul stirring....sad that todays teens do not have the attention span to enjoy this
Wow, that's totally ageist. I'm 15 and I'm Tchaikovsky's biggest fan, okay? Don't stamp prejudices on whomever you see fit.
Haha i started as a 12 year old with a poor attention span. They just dont listen to music much anyways.
If you like the Gymnopedie. Try listening then to the Gnossienne. Number five is my personal favorite.
genial, simplemente magestuoso
Beautiful :)
@TheWickedNorth Can you please upload a version of Erik Satie's Gymnopedie no.1 on piano? It's one of my favorite pieces to listen to.
People seriously dknt make music like this anymore
Another film from Tchaikovsky (Waltz of the Flower).
Master of Waltz: Vögel vom Bodensee - Master of Waltz
Interesting opening
performers?
Some of them have like me :) but instead be happy that you are able to enjoy this masterpiece ;)
Since it's minor the G should be a lowercase g.
good point, although saying g minor is saying a wet water. it is already minor if it is g, so saying G minor is more correct I would say
Pedantic or Didactic, then?
Fans, if you had to pick one word to describe this piece, what would it be (asking for a poem I'm writing that references this piece)?
Shows promise, reminiscent of "The Witches of Eastwick".
Who are the performers?
The great Evgeny Svetlanov/Russian State S.O. The best recording you will every hear of this symphony.
@@paullewis2413 Sensational with a wonderful finale !!!!!

technology hasn't made their hearts smarter--
Not as good as the 1812 Overture, Nutcracker, or Sleeping Beauty Waltz...but still pretty good!
Anyone else here from reading Shimanami Tasogare?
how the hell did he fall asleep to That?

excuse me? Sad that today 30+ don't have the life experience to not generalise
*ahem* Not all of us are addicted to Skrillex, you know...
this truly is a comment from 8 years ago. how u doin now?
Let it be known that this is my favorite Tschaikowsky symphony! I hate the 4th and 6th!
This and no. 5 and Mahler,s Symphony no. 1 are the greatest symphonies ever composed Period !!!!!

REPEAT A LOT AND SLEEP
loud obnoxious commercial interruption in middle of music, turned it off & won’t be listening somewhere else
You people watch/listen to anything on RUclips with ads? That's ridiculous.
미녀와야수보면 재밌음
