They both protect the tree of feelings, dream had the positive and nightmare had the negative. Nightmare was bullied by the villagers in their universe and he ate all the apples in his side turning him the way he is now. And if your wondering, Underfell basically is a universe where all monster are mean and are all living in a kill or be killed world. Frisk is a natural pacifist and flowey is helping them along the ways. I hope this helps!
Still hate this story (dream/ nm). Someone needs to completely revamp it, obviously they kinda took inspiration from the forbidden fruit in Christianity, but the story isn’t really realistic. The story overall isn’t really good, bro got bullied by villagers for being „evil“ so he decided to turn into a black man/ venom

@@xXArthurosXx actually im pretty sure nightmare tried to get the apple so he could prove that he could be useful just like his brother. also dream couldnt stay with him because people would just keep dragging him to help people so they could have the possibility to bully nightmare. i personally dont think their lore is bad, its just not the "WOW THIS IS SO GOOD IT DESERVES AN AWARD" type of thing
