wow..what a great compliment for our Dutch-band Pussycat, eggymemories! Thank you! I personally like them both! But the girls and the band did a super-job here...that's true! This is my fave number of them, because it's such a swinging-song. And everybody knows it, can't sit still and got to sing along.. Timeless!
fantastic ,dont describe it, great group with a fantastic singer and the best cover version ive heard, which says alot to me , i dont usualy like cover songs, but could listen to this all the time , and have done too
I remember very well the recording. Pim Koopman played the drums and in the take just before the final one the snare pad of his snaredrum broke. He wanted to repair this but I liked that funny sound so much, that I forbid him to do so. All the session cats and arranger Paul Natte looked shocked, but I was very decisive. Years later Pim always was telling this story, he liked so much after all. This is the only recording singing the girls "unison", which was an exception to the rule for Pussycat. (But not for Motown recordings) Eddy Hilberts, producer of Pussycat that time
Pussycat, what a name… what a singer: Toni Willé… pushed once Abba from their Nr.1 rank in Great Britain… No bad words about Abba.. but if this woman had a better management… she would been in everybody’s heart, world wide, just as those Swedish did…
One of my favourite songs (perseverative soundtrack of the Coens' first movie). But this version I heard for the first time tonight. The Four Tops' original is also fantastic and Levi Stubbs is a master singer, but I fall in love with great female voices like this one.
@peterutr Thank you, they sing in good English, they ´ve got good rythmn. I like their version of this motown classic "Same Old Song". With adequate publicity they could be famous worlwide, sure. Best wishes.-
spijtig dat ik toen die ouderdom niet had, zou ze zo ten huwelijk vragen, heerlijke stem heeft die vrouw, weet niet hoe oud ze is maar ik denk dat ik niet veel jonger zal zijn, ben een 59er
Dear @peterutr, Pussycat had have nr 1 hits in: The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium,Japan, Poland,Brazil,South Afrika, Israel( 1st Dutch group with nr 1 hit in the UK) Switzerland,Austria.. for sure i forgot some country's. THEY ARE FAMOUS WORLDWIDE. :)
@terryclary Totally agree!!! I'm also a big ABBA fan but they could have been so much more. Surely Stig Anderson could have handled another supergroup? LOL
minotauroazul : heritage - polish' from "if your not Dutch, your not much land".. Lol.. no band that I have ever heard can measure up to this group's overall... and extremely respectful stage performances.. all ages can attend their venues.
@leonaofficial And I don't think Abba ever needed to record a cover version... although this is pretty good and better than a lot of their own material apart from Mississippi, Georgie and possibly Wet Day In September.
Fantastic melody, brings back the memories of 1970.
Still loves this great song. Thanks Pussycat
