"You bastards, why are you torturing me like this? Why?"
Fun Fact: At the end of principal shooting in Tennessee, the crew put together a little time capsule package and buried it inside the fire place of the cabin as a memento of the production to whomever found it. The cabin has since been destroyed and only the fireplace is still intact.
Make Your Own Blood Fact: The blood is a combination of Karo syrup, non-dairy creamer, and red food coloring. At one point, Bruce Campbell's shirt that he wears in the film was so saturated with the fake blood that after drying it by the fire, the shirt became solidified and broke when he tried to put it on.
Location Location Fact: Filmed in a real-life abandoned cabin. The property's owner granted the production crew to lease the cabin, under the condition that any modifications made for filming were to be undone. The crew kept their promise, and the only thing that remained in the cabin was the fireplace that was specifically built for the film.

2 isn't a remake, it's more of a retelling. The first like 10 minutes are essentially a shortened recap of the first one.

  • @xredbeardx

Why didn’t Ash get possessed after getting scratched by Linda? Well Evil Dead 2 is a direct continuation of Evil Dead 1 so if you remember Ash did get possessed after he got thrown from the cabin and landed in the puddle. As far as the confusion with the “remake” of Evil Dead 1 at the start of Evil Dead 2 this is what happened; Sam Raimi wanted to recap the events of Evil Dead 1 but couldn’t get the rights to show footage of the first movie cause it was owned by a different distributor, so Raimi basically did a cliff-noted remake of the first movie at the start of Evil Dead 2

  • @victornewmanforever
    @victornewmanforever Год назад +3

Only the beginning of Evil Dead 2 is a simplified remake of the first film. Once the evil force throws Ash through the woods, it corresponds to the ending of The Evil Dead and the real start of Evil Dead 2.
Also, remember The Evil Dead was just an amateur film, shot on location with no heating system, a nightmare for the cast and crew. When they did the sequel, they didn't have the right to use the original movie so it was an opportunity to start from scratch and to "reshoot" the first film in a professional way.
They had to use a different actress to play Ash's girlfriend in Army of Darkness, which is why the prologue is an Evil Dead 2 recap reshot with another actress.

Finally one of my favorite instances of this classic, is when ash is hearing all the noises talking to himself, and he remembers and looks at the necklace and it brings him back to sanity. He tightens up and suits up and that's when demon Cheryl's hands came through the door. The first fifteen minutes of the 2nd movie are just a reshoot. He didnt not bring a second girl to the cabin. It's all they could afford. So take that part with a gain of salt.

One thing I always like to remember going into a horror movie is. The characters don't know they are in a horror movie. Especially with this movie. This is one of the movies that made the rules to follow in a horror movie. Just like Halloween, nightmare on elm street, And Friday the thirteenth. "Don't go anywhere a lone, don't trust your surroundings, leave the house, don't read the language. Ect ect." I haven't met a lot of folks in my experience in mediating with spirits who even believed in them until they met me or overheard a Convo I was having and approached me. At the same time I've had tons of parties in the woods where people said that classic line "I'll be right back" go outside relieve themselves and come back in a few minutes later. No problem. Sometimes I've been the one who hasdnt come back in ten fifteen minutes because I'm enjoying the night air. Someone comes and looks for me and then usually join me and one BY ONE I TAKE THEM! Jk I usually get people to see the beauty of the landscape I'm appreciating and sit with me. But that's why I always go into a horror movie with a slate of not expecting. Because I wouldn't know if if there was a psycho killer around her. Even if I personally would've said no to the book. Others would've read the book thinking it's just archeology and words. Because they would never think that any of it could possibly be real. I did love your reaction! I could tell that even though the dated effects it really got you in parts love to see that! Hope you keeo with the series. You are the first reactor who when shelly said "what happened to her eyes?!" Your the first who said what I did. "Her eyes? What about her f*king face!?" Brava!

I think you'll really enjoy the third film in the series. It doesn't take itself very seriously at all, but it's a lot of fun.
There's also a TV series called Ash vs Evil Dead which ran for three seasons. Bruce Campbell returns as Ash and the series keeps the humor of the second and third movies. It was actually really good and fans of the films generally liked the series, so you might want to check it out even if you don't react to it on the channel.

In the sequel, they loosely remade the events of this one in the beginning, but without Ashley's friends and sister, leaving only Linda. They did not have rights to the original, even though they made it, so theyvhad to get creative, to work around. And the story continues directly, from the exact moment Ash gets hit by the invisible force, with Ash getting possessed, and then getting back to being human. Linda's necklace carries over from the first movie, Linda's decapitation happened in both and the book that got burned in the original, was not seen in Evil Dead 2 after the invisible force attacked Ash, only new, recently discovered pages. So it kind of works as a direct sequel, only there is some retconning.
And there's some new retcons in Army of Darkness too, with Ashley being captured first, before becoming the worshiped savior, when in the end of Evil Dead 2, this happened immediately after the winged demon arrived.

Aria, you should watch the documentary called "Swallowed Souls: The Making of Evil Dead 2." It's right here on RUclips.
The filmmakers basically admit that because they could not get the rights to the first film (even though they had made it), and the fact Ash is clearly dead at the end of "The Evil Dead," they would pretend as if the first film had not happened (Bruce Campbell lays the reasoning out in the documentary). ED2 is technically NOT a sequel, but a structural retelling of the story due to legal rights issues.
Sam Raimi used this opportunity to add physical Three Stooges comedy and gags because he was a fan of their films... a tonal shift from pure horror to horror comedy.

@@jacobcostanza2772 He and Raimi have also said something different from that, as in various documentaries. As a viewer, all you have to do is watch the two films and see that ED2 is a different style of movie telling the same story twice with a tie in for the direct sequel AOD. Why it was done was due to legal reasons. It sounds good that they are connected together in modern times because it sells more tickets to a new generation. Bruce has always been a tremendous salesman. The only actual similarities are Ash, an evil book, a cabin in the woods, a cellar, a group of people in said settings, and evil demons possessing the living. ED2 is saying the same thing, in a new way. It's not the first movie reboot to occur, so why get all defensive about it now? Because it's "Evil Dead?"

Yes in the sequel they reshot the recap of the 1st movie because Sam Raimi couldn't get the rights on using the footage from this movie and that's the reason, yet there's still the debate on if the 2nd movie really is a sequel or a remake. I say this: It's both! The 2nd movie continues from the 1st movie, but at the same time it's a completely different movie because of the more humor in the mix, Ash having more bad ass goofy attitude in that one and the reshot recap. And yes, this one is more lowbudget, this was actually Sam Raimi's breakthrough movie and he was only 19 years old when he made it!
