In case you're unaware, "Klaatu, Barada, Nikto" are the words used to control the robot in "The Day the Earth Stood Still", made decades before this movie.
Bruce Campbell has explained all the plotholes away by saying Ash is an unreliable narrator. Like, he's telling this tale in a bar, more than once, and adding/changing things
The movie that spawned so many one-liners... from "gimme some sugar, baby!" to "good, bad, I'm the one with the gun" to "Klaatu... barada... n...ldjkasdlfkjasdflkjsadf!" It's such an awesomely fun midnight movie. I also love the crazy cinematography.
Would definitely recommend the 2015 tv series “Ash VS Evil Dead”. It’s a lot of fun, it’s got the humor of Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness but all the extreme gore of Evil Dead 1. Also it’s only 3 seasons and each episode is only a half hour long, so it’s a breeze to get through 👍🏻
"Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the gun." I can't believe you cut this line. Fun Fact: S-Mart is a teal chain of grocery stores in Mexico. Ted Raimi Cameos Fact: The cowardly warrior who doesn't want to die, the man who shouts "you can count on my steel" to Ash (Bruce Campbell), the swordsman with an eye-patch, and the S-Mart store clerk are all the same man. Automobile Fact: During filming the Oldsmobile Delta 88 falling out of the sky was shot twice. During the first attempt, the 25-ton crane lifting the car failed due to mechanical problems and toppled over the edge of a cliff at the quarry location where filming was taking place. Fortunately, no injuries occurred because the crane operator jumped from the cab before the crane went over the edge. Days later a larger 80-ton crane was brought in to remove the damaged crane and re-shoot the car drop. In the final edit, elements of the re-shoot as well as footage from the end of Evil Dead II (1987) were used.
@NebLleb ...Stop. Sam Raimi has since loudly denounced that version. Ash Vs Evil Dead (2015) has also made the original theatrical version canon. Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍
Aria, you were correct at the beginning of the reaction. They retconned the end of "Evil Dead 2" because of, again, rights issues. They've had a lot of headaches with this franchise. When they did the gorier TV series, "Ash vs Evil Dead," they had to retcon some of their retcons because they had legal problems obtaining rights to the films with all the various distributors over the years.
always the best movie i mean how many movies are out there where the guy gets beat up by little versions of him then becaome a twin only to get beat up by a book lol
They made this movie into a play. I saw it twice a few years ago. Unless you want to get blood splattered, do not sit in the first 3 rows. 😉 Love your reactions ... very refreshing.
All three movies and the show are cannon. Bruce Campbell already explained that Evil Dead 2 was a requel so the beginning of Evil Dead 2 is non cannon, up until the demon sends him flying across the woods, that’s when the rest is cannon. Same with ending of Evil Dead 2 when he goes back in time, the “hail” scene is not cannon, but the beginning of Army Of Darkness is. So he killed his possessed friends, cut his hand off after bitten by his deadite girlfriend, the evil and Ash are sent back in time with the pages coming from Anne Knowby. Then 30 years later are the events of Ash Vs Evil Dead
1) I thought every Americans had spare ammunitions in their cars?! 2) The change of tone was simply a reflection of its time. Everything had to be a Comedy-something. Action-Comedy, Horror-Comedy... 3) If you look at Ash's shotgun, there are two barrels. This means it can hold 2 cartridges at once: one cartridge in each barrel. Then you decide if you shoot both of 'em with a single press of the trigger or just one at a time. 4) The PoV camera seems to be the purest form of Evil there is. Every time it touches someone, they become possessed by silliness: - The way Linda and Cheryl laugh while they are possessed, and the weird little dance deadite-Linda does after being burried. - The sound Ash's hand makes. Then the stuffed animals. So yeah, I think this on-par with what was made before!
I only recently learned it was supposed to be called "Medieval Dead" which like... yeah. Evil Dead 1, 2, and then Medieval Dead. It used to bother me *so much* that the 3rd movie in the trilogy was called "Army of Darkness".
There is a theory that every entry in the series is an alternate reality. Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness, Ash Vs Evil Dead, and the 2013 Evil Dead all have major continuity mistakes that have led some to believe that a multiverse is the reason.
Technically you could say this theory is true but there is a MAIN timeline, and that is one where all three movies and the show are cannon. So he killed his possessed friends, got bitten by his girlfriend, the evil and Ash are sent back in time with the pages coming from Annie Knowby. Then 30 years later are the events of Ash Vs Evil Dead. 2013 is definitely not connected whatsoever so that is confirmed to be a different universe where yeah, Ash exist but not our Ash. He probably is stuck in that worlds version of Army Of Darkness instead of going back to his time because before the show there was plans on making an Army Of Darkness 2 where Mia gets sent back and meets Ash
26:42 Reloading is for suckas. So is refilling gas tanks. I mean we had a movie where there were tiny Ashes, then an Evil King of the Darkness Ash, we're not gonna get bogged down in the details of "Did he fire six shots or only five?" (I lost track myself)
"14:31" Everytime watching this movie I fail with those 3 damn words.😅 I bet you will forgot them the next time too, it's like a never-ending challenge. 😂
Once again a year late, but my interpretation of the end of Evil dead 2 / start of Army of Darkness is that when he and the car fell out of the sky and he killed the deadite, the soldiers around him were Henry's men... and he was captured along with Henry's men.
3:02 I always thought it was an editing mistake to not have the guy get arrowed' BEFORE Bruce/Ash says "and Jack Left town." Because it would make that line have just a little more punch.
This movie is one of my guilty pleasures! It is so much fun! I didn't read through the other comments but the three words that he keeps repeating Klaatu Barada nikto are famous words! In 1951 the movie The Day the Earth Stood Still, and alien comes to Earth to try and save us from ourselves! Great movie that you should definitely see! They did a remake with Keanu Reeves sometime in this Century but it wasn't nearly as good. Well I will catch up again with you and the next movie. I don't know where you are in the world but stay safe and happy and I hope you have someone you can be with to watch these movies with.
If you enjoyed these Evil Dead movies, I highly recommend you watch all three seasons (ten episodes each) of Starz' "Ash vs Evil Dead". This series expands upon the lore, deepens Ash Williams' character and manages to top each episode by delivering great lines, directing and fan service. It truly is one of the best series produced. I honestly don't think there's a bad or lesser episode in all thirty shows.
I think another silly but very enjoyable movie you would enjoy is a movie called L.A. Story. Great Steve Martin movie. A comedy romance that isn’t cheesy and it doesn’t take itself too seriously, but the sentimental parts hit very well when they do happen.
Evil Dead- classic horror flic from the golden age. Evil Dead 2- the best comedy/horror movie ever made. Army of Darkness- farcical to the point of being dumb and corny.
Although it has nothing in common with the "Evil Dead" films other than Bruce Campbell & being a horror comedy, it feels like "Bubba Ho-Tep" is a thematic successor to these films. The vibe is just there.
I think Sam Raimi probably watched a lot of 'Three Stooges' growing up, which is where a lot of the physical comedy comes from. It only really works in the context of these movies because none of it is meant to be taken seriously, and Bruce Campbell is so damn good at physical comedy in the first place. But yeah, Raimi didn't have the rights to either Evil Dead, which is why the recap was re-filmed again with different actors (once again) and why the movie couldn't even be called 'Evil Dead 3.'
It's totally fine to not be called Evil Dead 3 though. This was the first one that I saw and I loved it for years. I didn't find out that it had prequels until the early 00's
You are absolutely correct about the Three Stooges. Sam, Ivan and Ted were reared on the boys, and Bruce got with the program shortly after they met in high-school. It even got to the point that the term "shemp" and "shemping" has personal meaning in their conversations, AND slightly different specific professional meanings on-set when directing.
In case you're unaware, "Klaatu, Barada, Nikto" are the words used to control the robot in "The Day the Earth Stood Still", made decades before this movie.
Wow, didn't know that
Yep. And, also in homage to that film, those words were the names of a trio Jabba the Hutt's hired henchmen, in Return Of The Jedi.
Bruce Campbell has explained all the plotholes away by saying Ash is an unreliable narrator. Like, he's telling this tale in a bar, more than once, and adding/changing things
Makes sense
@@ariachanson01 Ash is what you would call a cocky moron or an accidental hero.
And the TV show has Ash reveal that he was with multiple Lindas. As when he visited his old high school, he said "Met my first Linda here."

Arthur: Are all men from the future loud-mouthed braggarts?

I always imagined that Ash was his own ancestor
you can actually hear him reloading off screen in multiple scenes^^
Hey Aria C,can you react to Dolls(1987)?I would appreciate it if you did.
If you pay attention, he consistently reloads, either on screen or off after every four shots. For a double barrel, this isn't possible.
