जिन्हें फिल्म संगीत की समझ है, वे सभी वसंत देसाई जी को न सिर्फ जानते हैं, बल्कि यह भी जानते हैं कि फिल्म संगीत क्षेत्र में उनका कितना सम्मान रहा है, सिर्फ वही लोग नहीं जानते जिनका फिल्म संगीत का इतिहास ही 1970 से आरंभ हुआ हो, जबकि फिल्म संगीत का स्वर्ण युग ही 1950 से 1970 तक का कालखंड माना जाता है।

जब महान संगीतकारों में बसंत देसाई का नाम नहीं लिया जाता था तो दिल दुखता था।
फ़िल्म इंडस्ट्री बहुत निर्मम है। कितनी दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण बात है कि एक महान संगीतकार और शहनायी वादक बिस्मिल्लाह खान को याद करते हुए ये रेडियो जॉकी एक महत्वपूर्ण बात छिपा गई और वो ये कि फिल्म ' गूंज उठी शहनाई' में बिस्मिल्लाह खान ने शहनाई केवल एक - दो गानो में बजाई थी। पूरी फिल्म के बैकग्राउंड में जो खूबसूरत शहनाई बार - बार बजती है वे सारे पीस खान साहब ने नहीं बल्कि महान शहनाई वादक रामलाल चौधरी ने बजाए थे। दुर्भाग्य और क्रूरता देखिए कि रिकॉर्ड्स के क्रेडिट्स पर उनका नाम नहीं था। उन्होंने गुस्से में कभी भी 'गूंज उठी शहनाई' कभी नहीं देखी।
रामलाल इतने सरल और सीधे आदमी थे और शायद नौकरी के चक्कर में उन्होंने उसी वसंत देसाई के लिए शहनाई बजाई जिसने उन्हें क्रेडिट देने के बजाए बिस्मिलाह खां को तरजीह दी। बाद में रामलाल ने व्ही शांताराम के लिए 'सेहरा' और 'गीत गाया पत्थरों ने' में स्वतंत्र रूप संगीत दिया जो कि कालजई साबित हुआ। मैं नहीं जानता कि कि वसंत देसाई का उस में क्या रोल रहा होगा और गूंज उठी शहनाई में उन्होंने रामलाल को क्रेडिट क्यों नहीं दिया होगा लेकिन ' सेहरा' और ' गीत गया पत्थरों ने' के गीत - संगीत ने ये साबित किया कि रामलाल स्वयं कितने उत्तम संगीतकार थे। आह! उन्हें भी वो नाम और काम नहीं मिला जिसके वो हकदार थे। इनके गाने सभी को याद हैं लेकिन लोग उनके नाम से अनभिज्ञ हैं।
सच्चाई बताने के लिए साधुवाद। हर क्षेत्र में परजीवी पाये जाते हैं जो दूसरों का क्रेडिट खा जाते हैं।
@@DhirajSingh-yl1yq बात ये है कि उस समय सभी संगीतकार फिल्म कंपनी के कर्मचारी होते थे। उन्हें तनख्वाह मिला करती थी। इसलिए फिल्म कंपनियां उन्हें बाहर की फिल्म नहीं करने दिया करती थी। इसी तरह साजिंदे संगीतकार से पैसा पाते थे। सो सभी ऊपर वाले नीचे वालों का शोषण किया करते थे। ये सिलसिला बाद में काफी बदला लेकिन फिर भी साजिंदों, म्यूजिक अरेंजरों और साउंड इंजीनियरों को वो क्रेडिट और नाम नहीं मिला जो मिलना चाहिए था।
बहोत सही कहा. रामलालजी के साथ बहोत अन्याय हूवा हैं... "तकदिर का फसाना" "पंख होते तो उड आती रे" जैसे बेहतरीन गीत बनानेवाले रामलालजी कितने ऊंचे दर्जेके संगीतकार थे ये अलग से बतानेकी जरुरत नहीं. मुझे हैरानी इस बात की हैं की स्व. लताजी या रफी साहाब जैसे महान कलाकारोने रामलालजी के निर्देशनमे गीत गाये लेकीन कभी किसी इंटरव्यू मे उनका जिक्र किया हो ऐसा सूननेमे नहीं आया..

Looks like Film & Music industry was always very brutal & credit snatching. 😢😢😢 bahut genius & Talented artistes ke sath Anyay hua. Unko ya toh mauka hi nahi diya jata tha ya mila toh unse chheen liya jata tha ya Uska credit hi nahi diya jaata tha. Imagine how THOSE FEW EGOTISTICAL PEOPLE played Low level politics & never let other Talented Artists come forward. Industry ruthless banti hai Ruthless Ati Ahankaari logo ki wajah se...lekin koi kisipar kitna bhi Anyay kar le uske Karmo ka Nyay Hisaab karnewala toh upar baitha hai na. Unko Aakhri dino me Bhugatna bhi Pada hai.

यदि हो सके तो रामलाल चौधरी का all India radio पर दिया उनका इंटरव्यू खोजिए और सुनिए तोनपता चलेगा की वे कितने सरल और सीधे इंसान थे।

V. Shantaram's Jhanak Jhank Payal Bajey was conceived after the success of Bajiu Bawara. As Baiju Bawara was a music-oriented movie, Jhanak Jahank Payal Bajey was dance-oriented. Shantaram has approached Naushad to compose the music for this movie because of his name recognition and the tremendous success of Baiju Bawara. But Naushad bowed out, saying that since Shantaram Production already had such a talented music director as Vasant Desai under their contract, he should be the one to compose the music for this movie. Later on, Vasant Desai himself acknowledged this and thanked Naushad publicly. Vasant Desai's talent was acknowledged by the best-known musicians of the time. By the way, Vasant Desai was a big fan of Mohammad Rafi. He had called him "Sakshast Gandharwa" in one of his interviews.

Really a Wonderful Coverage of a marvelous, dynamic man, Vasant Desai j - grossly underestimated. I am inclined to say that both, Chitalkar Ramchandra j and he had some similarities as regards rhythm. Yes, both were from Maharashtra and associated with Marathi films, theatre etc. Vasant j was deeper into classical, Shastriya Sangeet, Will have to delve deeper and listen to all the songs played here, their sequences here.
