I also wonder why the Night King didn't, ya know, spear the dragon directly in front of him on the ground (Drogon), which was carrying almost everyone at the time, rather than show off his javelin skills and hit the unladen one in the sky. Oh well. Still awesome.
@@MrDuneedon I get your point, but the Night King comes across as a dead version of Cersei. The_Jackal Remember when Tyrion got accidentally knocked unconscious in season 1 so we ended up missing out on seeing a big battle? That was ok back then because the writing was on point and good writing can make up for a whole lot of shit. Whereas big spectacle doesn't make up for weak writing
Jan Melkebeek What plot are you talking about? THEY CAN'T TALK FOR 7 YEARS, of course things are going fast now because the show will finish sooner than later
Nah, not really. The VFX were SUPERB. The show just made some questionable choices since they no longer have GRRM's source material to draw from. It's understandable, but there was a marked drop in quality, as far as plot goes, from earlier seasons. That said, I watched the episode again and I still think it was pretty good. Loot Train attack and Battle of the Bastards were better, but this one was okay.

daVel No, that's mediocre. You praise the whole technical team for being awesome, but one thing is overall writing, and a completely different one is team work. D&D have pretty much fucked up logics this season (messages getting delivered pretty instantly??? Seriously???), but that doesn't make performances or the whole cinematography change. It's just D&D's fault. And trust me, "limited budget", with Game of thrones being basically the highest rated TV show in history, when they sell THOUSANDS OF MILLIONS in advertising, is just BULLSHIT. It's even bigger than The Sopranos, and they're just rushing it so they don't make 2 more episodes??? I just don't buy it.

I'm over Jon Snow. He is a colossally bad leader as is his Auntie. No sense having good counsel if you won't ever take it. At least Cersei listens to Cliburn. Sansa take the North and with Little Finger turn your attention to Kings Landing. Arya go kick rocks, you don't have the aptitude for this game. Maybe you can find the remnants of Ice have them forge you a new sword and Sansa can let you be queen's justice after you kill Ilyn Payne. Cersei prevails in the end.
Blown away by the VFX and the effort put into these episodes. But the night king doesn't look as menacing and terrifying as he used to. No offence to Vlad, but Richard did a better a job at looking like pure evil. Bring back the original actor!!! And where the hell is ghost?!
Yeah! That's about my only complaint about the episode. Bring back Richard Brake for the role as the Night King! He was awesome in the fourth and fifth season.
I think they mentioned in a previous interview that they had to cut the appearance of the direwolves down because it was eating up their VFX budget and it basically came down to a choice between direwolves or dragons, based on this episode I'd say they made the right choice. :P
what a hell lot of hardwork has been done to create sets, then do the animations .... Speechless.... A big big salute to each and every one of person who has worked back stage to create such a masterpiece!
With the dedication and the spectacular details this show is made with, no wonder it’s the best show to go down in history! I don't know if I should laugh about this or not, but that's exactly what they did. They used an amazing scene and ignored the part of figuring out how to get there. Such a disappointment.

Sad that so many people have a sheep mentality and get so defensive for a fucking show and constructive criticism
Night King actually just wants peace.
It's not even constructive critism tho haha. It's just people calling the writing shit and that's it
I'm over Jon Snow.
It was the opposite 10 hours ago. Most people were complaining. Don't know where all those comments went though ..wink wink..
7:29 That moment a Norwegian stands on an asphalt layer and thinks it's a real ice lake then you know you're damn good at your job. Very impressive.
Thank you to everyone who worked on this show, the professionalism of these guys is incredible I’m so grateful to have seen this show!
Melcher Sjöman His mannerisms, body language and appearance in Hardhome was on point. That shot of him raising the dead, simply iconic.
I think they mentioned in a previous interview that they had to cut the appearance of the direwolves down because it was eating up their VFX budget and it basically came down to a choice between direwolves or dragons, based on this episode I'd say they made the right choice. :P
InxCobain Aah fair enough. I guess beggars can't be choosers
yesssss....i liked the original night king better!
I like how suddenly everyone's an expert on script writing, must be the school holidays again
wew
lol i agree
Doesn't take an expert to recognize bad writing
source?
mak k you don't need to be a scatologist to recognize a pile of shit
what a hell lot of hardwork has been done to create sets, then do the animations .... Speechless.... A big big salute to each and every one of person who has worked back stage to create such a masterpiece!
With the dedication and the spectacular details this show is made with, no wonder it’s the best show to go down in history! So show will ever match this show not only because of its epic story and characters but the scenes, the cast, the acting, the costumes, the cinematography, the cgi, the passion and hard work and everything else behind camera that we don’t see. I LOVE LOVE LOVE GAME OF THRONES.
Omg!!!! I thought that fire sword was also animation!!!
Tanusree Ghosh go to kitchen

Mad queen you"re a rude person

Ahaha the hound at 05:20 I laughed my ass off
It's an amazing work, for this series the real workaholics and the people who deserve more credits are not the actors but the technical crew, their work and sweat is what made this series incredible to watch, I mean the realistic scenes, dragons etc... I just got my new ambition now .. hopefully I will get to work on one of amazing set like this... big up lads...
You gotta appreciate all the hard work they put into this gem of a show
The production that goes into this is truly breathtaking.
8:41 nice laugh lul
It’s amazing how shows and movies like this are created.
My GOD that ice quarry was an AMAZING story so much work involved thank you for sharing
It's gonna be miserable, but don't worry Kit. You'll earn 2 million dollars afterwards.
James didn't load design blouse design design blouse
2 million dollars for kit Harrington but Leo earns 50 million. Who's work will be remembered 20 years from now???

2:19 the Hound in the back
The subtle 'ding' sound when he smiles is the best :D
Susie O'Sullivan damn that's what I was going to say lol

The scale and cost of this production is mind blowing
WHAT AN AMAZING EPISODE!
OTDA the best!
I found chad summerchild
it was nowhere near the best lol
Your opinion is unpopular. But it's your opinion, so.
Rariix, This episode currently holds a 9.8 on IMDB. A site, which literally indicates popularity. So...
Thanks for the ride
Like literally...
The WORK that goes into these things! It's still one of the best shows to ever grace TV season 8 notwithstanding.
When i was watching the first few seasons, I envisioned these guys together fighting white walkers. And it was awesome when this episode aired. Would’ve been great if jamie and bronn are with them.
I could watch behind the scenes all day ! I love it .
1:33 LOL the flamming sword guy. Don't get too excited now =D
Candi Soda Lol, nicely spotted
That's hilarious!
You know what, fans only ever talk about the storyline and that, but jesus! The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes is unbelievable! Amazing work!
Emilia you are my hero. Been rootin' for you since season 1. Now we're here.
7:28 When you realize the actor playing Tormund is actually Tormund.
Every single time I watch these anatomy of a scene videos I'm completely mindblown. The amount of work and creativity that goes into GOT is out of this world. D&D and everyone who works on the show are incredible. It's so inspiring to see.
this D&D compliment aged poorly
@@arthur99mun aged like milk

The kind of pictures they are creating in front of our eye just incredible. All time greatest show
I was blown away at the realism of this episode. It looked so real to me. Very talented SFX people!
So much effort, yet so much criticism. For me, effort paid off, the episode was great!
It’s ok to be nuanced and to separate
1) amazing sets and production work
and
2) piss-poor, good for nothing writing
The plot wasn't the best, but the darn action and cinematography was amazing!
Yes, the cinamatography was amazing, action was poorly shot imo, and the plot was total garbage
This episode had its loose ends but still one of the best set pieces and tons of great moments. So many red shirts 😂
Bahaha 😂 I lost it at "no you're not. You're name is Toby" poor Toby can't get no respect
"We built Nature" :D Thanks to the team! It was an ABSOLUTE DELIGHT to watch
Im a fool. I thought there were dragons for real.
Barack Osama well, either way you are a fool.
Well, with a thumbnail like that, I'd believe that you thought that.
Durka Durka
Aw, did I hit the G-spot there? I hope it didn't hurt too bad.

As an avid watcher and book reader i still dont feel we all appreciate the work involved in this show. The guys have done an incredible job.
The dedication for this--- plus the ending. It doesn't quite give justice wthhhhhh
