I won’t be able to watch this when it premieres, but I will watch the replay. Thank you Josh, for sharing this. It brings back memories of when I was a kid.
Very cool!!
That was so fun to see some of the games on the laptop! I like the comparison you did with the mac next to it, the older one looked so huge lol! You’re going to have quite the collection in no time! 😊
Thank you, Nikki! Yes! I am establishing a collection... lol. I need to be careful or I will run out of space!
Really love those old laptops of yesteryear 😊😊😊
Me too! They’re so fun, and so huge compared to what we have now!
@@retrotv1tech 😊😊
Excited to see what games you have for it! Memories unlocked on this one!
Lots of great ones!!
Thanks Josh! I’m so fascinated by all the retro equipment and terminology!! Also brings back memories from the early 2000’s when we had a desktop set up in our basement and the kids played games on it! Guess they were CD’s they used….geez can’t remember 😂 Looking forward to your next Vlog 🥰
That's really cool! Our old PC was in the basement too!
Enjoyed bringing back memories and your enthusiasm for retro tech!
Thanks, Adam!
ehat dur surprises is the siz pf somethong we called a laptop in the 90s compared to now they're huge thanks so much josh!
Lol. Yep! So big!
I wanna see the blooper reel when Josh enjoys the joys of booting from recovery floppies! 🤣 Great vlog and channel, man! 👍
I will be sure to record that!! lol
This is cool to see. Thank you Josh.
Thanks for watching!
UMB = Upper Memory Block. Blast from the past ... had to add that line to CONFIG.SYS a thousand times to customers' DOS PC's to get our software to work. Great videos Josh, keep them coming!
That makes sense! Thanks for watching!
IRQ Conflicts...I'm having flashbacks to painful memories. 😃
Fun video, glad you're having fun exploring all the retro tech and sharing it with us!
Yes... IRQ conflicts were like a puzzle to me growing up... it was kind of fun to resolve them... if it worked!
Loved it... great video Josh... great retro stuff.. right up my alley...
Thank you so much! And thanks for your help!!
This was an interesting video! The size comparison next to the newer laptop was too funny! Glad you were able to get the games to work on it too! 😀
Thanks, Lori! It was so crazy how much thicker it was! Although, it's built like a tank! LOL
I'm enjoying the new channel! It brings back a lot of memories! 😄
Thank you!!
Can’t wait for the premiere! Can’t wait to see what games you have for it!!
Awesome! We’ve got some great stuff to share!
Brother this is all awesome. Fuccing great stuff
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! Great find Josh! Can’t wait to see more with this computer! My mom did call the other day cause she found some old floppies of mine!
Hey Rob! That’s awesome! What was on the disks?
Thanks for creating this channel, this really looks like a lot of fun. I’m from your Disney Channel and I watch all of your video.
Welcome to the Retro Channel, and thanks for watching ResortTV1!
I love seeing that windows 95 Logo! This is just a really great walk through the past. I love it!
Thank you so much, Tommy!!

Fun to see a blast from the past laptop 💻 😀!
Thanks!! It is so much fun to tinker around on!
I've arrived Josh! Look forward to watching more stuff! 😉👌🏼 O.O.K 💙
Welcome!!! Glad you’re here!
Keen is classic. Romero and Carmack are legends of game design.
Yes!
Great stuff Josh! Funnily enough I got myself a Toshiba Tecra 8000 a while back for the same reasons as you and it’s interesting to see another model from the same family!
That's really cool, Paul! Glad you are into retro gaming too! What are the specs on yours?
@@retrotv1tech It’s a Pentium II with a whopping 128mb :-) Have to admit I then went down an IBM Thinkpad rabbit hole - so many interesting laptops I would never have seen myself back in the day (I’m in the UK and went the ZX Spectrum > Amiga > Mac route so I mainly experienced DOS/Windows machines through friends or my Dad’s Compaq portable). All the best with the new channel!
Do you remember playing the computer game Star Flight. My dad and I would play that game when he was done with work at night. He would always give me his old disks so I can format them during the day when I was done with my homework. We would save where we would be like every 30 minutes because if you died you would start all over again at the start of the game.
I never played that one, but I’ll have to look it up! Sounds fun!
That was awesome. The laptop was in incredible condition.
It really is! I just need to clean it up a bit.
Some dude at Nike IT: "Hey, anyone know why one of our laptops from the 90s just came back online?"
Lol. Too funny!
I replaced all of my old drives with SSD or with flash card and it made a great difference of course for speed and battery life.
I did this too on later videos, and you’re right… it makes a big difference. I did keep a couple on their original hard drives for nostalgic purposes.
I used to call the eraser mouse the nub. Pretty handy and keeps your hand right over the keyboard. Also REM = Remark like a "comment" in code in batch files.
I've heard it called that too! And that makes sense about REM standing for remark. Thanks!
You should do live stream w/ Liam at Dave & Buster’s ( Play games , hang out )
For sure!
Great vid. Not sure if I could deal with the frustrations of the older machines again (did it for a living). The Duke Nukem allows up to 8 people on a network or player vs player over modem (retro Josh has a landline, right?). Did you ever play the Sierra Online games like Kings Quest and Space Quest? Used to play in a small group.
Oh yeah... it was frustrating for a while for sure! I don't have a landline... lol. Yes... I played Space Quest and Kings Quest, but I never could figure them out as a kid. LOL. I did play multiplayer games with my brother over a null modem serial connection a few times on another PC that we eventually had!
Great✌
I used an adapter for an USB-mouse to put into the PS2 slot. But if we have USB on the mainboard we can enable the USB legacy in the mainboard setup to use a PS2-mouse driver like the cutemouse driver with the USB-mouse. USB legacy redirect the USB mouse data into the keyboard controller like a PS-mouse.
That’s really cool!
Love learning code on radio by computer wishing I still had it floppy disk
Awesome!
My favorite game need for speed
Yes! So much fun!!
30:00 Did you find a way to stretch the games to fullscreen? I have a Toshiba 200CDS from the same era and it's quite frustrating not to be able to use the whole screen.
Yes. There’s a program called vexp.com that I found on Vogons that allows you to stretch the screen to fill the entire area. However, it does make text look a little glitchy due to primitive scaling, but I don’t mind it.
I’m using a hp compaq mini 110-1100 as a retro gaming machine it’s running windows xp so ittl play everything back to dos and super portable. I would like to get a book8088 but they are pricy
That sounds like a fun machine!
The videoclip that was included on the Windows 95 installation cd, to show the video capability of Media Player - ruclips.net/video/okt9GcWiWmE/видео.html
Oh wow! That's really cool! I didn't know what you meant! I'll check it out!

Which need for speed is this one Josh the third version of the game Need for speed III?
Yep! It’s the 3rd one.
The volume control on the side of these machines is know to fail and be static ridden... de-oxit is your friend...
Good! I will get some Deoxit in there. Thanks!!
Were you not too into laptops back in the 90s? The power supply is obviously internal and IR was popular for PDAs.
EDIT: Also you thought the floppy drive connected to the PCMCIA card?
EDIT: 95% of PCMCIA cards required a dongle.
I never had a laptop until 2002, but this was one of my first videos, and I’ve learned a lot since then. I now know that some early laptops had internal power supplies and some had wall warts (external). Also, I don’t think I tried to connect the floppy to the PCMCIA card, but I know I did eventually find the port. Look at some of my newer laptop videos. :-)
@@retrotv1tech Will do, thanks for the reply!
Somebody actually answered the 800 #. It's still apogee software apparently lol
Wow! That's amazing! lol. Who knew?
exodos
Tried to post this but didn't take. In the autoexec file it mentions a kak file. That is a computer virus
Oh wow! Well, I definitely need to remove that and the file then.
I think Windows 98 SE is much better than Windows 95.
I agree, but I think it would make this PC way slower overall because it’s only 120mhz.
@@retrotv1tech W95 is more unstable with an index of crash per hour. hehe
I made a zip-Archiv of a fresh installed Windows with all drivers installed (-+200mb) and i put it on an other drive letter. If Windows crashed or is slower by the time i boot from a floppy disk and format the drive with Windows and then i unzip the archiv to the drive. Now we can boot a fresh Windows installation again. This works with the same hardware, but not when the mainboard changed for example. But before we do this we have to safe our game files with the saved world, emails ect.. Only for W95, W98,Wme. On the bootable floppy disk we can put the format and sys command.
