- I am so excited, as I have two new additions to my home. This week, I visited the DSPCA animal shelter in Dublin to have a look in the cattery. I instantly fell in love with this brother and sister kittens. Let me introduce Bán and Beag. Bán is an Irish word for "white", so the white cat is called Bán. Beag is an Irish name for small, and I called the black kitten Beag because she looks like a small Pepsi, so a Pepsi beag, so her name is Beag.

I remember when my beautiful cat got knocked over and unfortunately died, the next day a woman in the street who breeds cats, knocked on my door and asked if i wanted "to buy a kitten to get over the loss of my cat".

They are just lovely. I'm always happy to see people get at least two cats, they really need a friend to play with. It took me over 15 years after my cat passed away to get to where I felt like I could get another pet. I saw a little tuxedo boy about to be returned to the pound because the owner would not be able to keep him. I suddenly realized that he needed me and I needed him. We found another cat just a couple weeks later and they rule the house. You are right, when the time is right you will know.
I'm still awaiting the right time to adopt again. I had 5 and the last girl died in my daughters arms aged 18 a year and a half ago. Broke our hearts. Still get emotional thinking about it. Miss having cats but the thought of losing one again.... I'm not ready for that. Your New babies are just gorgeous and settled so fast. It was meant to be!!
I understand how you feel Pami..... It's been 22yrs since my 18yrd old Shadow. I tested myself a yr ago by going into cat shelter & started crying & walked out. But. I'm now looking into The Humane Society for a new buddy. Finally I am ready. Thx for sharing your story.

I still have her sister Shadow (my black kitty). I need to find her a brother. I want a white boy cat... I've never had a boy. It's time. I'm God Cat mom to an orange boy cat and I'm so in love. I can live in a house full of cats! My first angel Mittens was white too.They are still my babies, just in heaven. We never really lose them. They stay in our hearts forever. Lots of love.🙏♥️🌹

Congratulations!!! It takes time to open our hearts to new fur babies after we've lost one. It took me over a year. Also, when my mom passed away a few years ago we had an etching of a dog and a cat in each corner and "Across the Rainbow Bridge" engraved on her headstone because we knew all of her past fur babies were there waiting for her.

Aw, congratulations Catherine, on your new babies. I'm so happy for you and for them because I know they'll be loved and adored. They're such cuties. My middle granddaughter fosters and of course she failed... she now has several permanent adoptees. 😊 I'm more than a teeny bit jealous since it's not safe for us to have a furbaby due to my husband's Parkinson's, and I still miss our boy who crossed the bridge several years ago, so I will enjoy your two little siblings vicariously. You are right, much thought must go into adopting animals. They are a commitment. Cats can live a long time - that and the expenses associated with having pets must be considered. It was good to wait until you had a block of time so the new residents could acclimatize to their new surroundings. Congratulations, on becoming a cat mom again.

Those for tuxedo cats I talked about we thought about fostering them and then finding them homes but four people and four cats we each fell in love with a different one so they never left our house

Since moving to New Mexico almost 3 years ago, I have lost the three pets I moved here with. (2 were old, one got sick) I have new pets now. Nothing heals a broken heart like a kitten or two.
Famous last words--"I'm just going to look." Agree about black cats--beautiful house panthers! You've prepared well for all the things your new babies need. BTW, I found a top entry litter box really useful--privacy for the kitties and they can't fling kitty litter on the floor. Win-win!

We have a low cupboard that is deep and too awkward to use for much, so we took one door off and put the covered litter box in there. It is the Potty Palace. 👑👑
We have white cats, ours are Turkish angoras and they were born with the little black sprinkles on top of their heads. That actually fades as they grow. Congratulations!

We adopted our two boys in 2020, shortly after our Indiana Bones passed away. We weren’t going to jump right in, but our dog was pining for her friend, and a 4-H friend had a batch of oopsie kittens.
Foggy & Mr. Clegg delight, annoy, entertain, pester, and make us laugh every day.

You are a smart young woman and I have lost dearly loved pets and you are absolutely right and wise with your comments. It took several years before I rescued two little little dogs, one white shitsu-chi mix and a black little but mighty ...chihuahua. They are my fur babies and We are a happy little loving family.
God Bless you ! Thankyou for saving and adopting those cuties ! I lost my rescue dog to diabetes and waited a bit.. and adopted my sweet Penelope 3 yrs ago....a sweet rabbit. She was abused.She is the sweetest. We too in Montreal,Quebec have a housing crisis and so many pets are surrendered. They are lifting expensive fees just so animals can find homes. Enjoy being a fur Mommy again !! They are the sweetest ❤

Such gentle, loving cats ❤ one passed at 1 yr old and the other suffered from epilepsy. I was heart broken and cried so much when we lost them 💔 I have 2 wonderful cats now, but my fur angels are still in my heart 💕💕 I hope your beautiful fur babies settle in well and enjoy the kitten period, it passes too quickly💕💕💕

I love your kittens. I have two 13 year olds and one 9 year old. I just rescued a 7 week old and I have never had a kitten like this one. He had a serious eye infection when I found him and vet had to remove it. But he is such a ball of energy. Bigger cats are trying to hide from him to get some peace. I love, love cats. They are amazing creatures.

During Covid I took in three abandoned kittens (left in the desert in a box to die!), and once they were healthy and less traumatized, they were crazy! But that also meant they were fun and loving and impossible to imagine separating from each other! Now, I’m a five cat household and seeing your kittens makes me baby hungry!!!

Eeeeeek I've been looking forward to this weeks video. Let the shenanigans begin, there is nothing purer than watching kittens play and tumble about. Oh i remember the " nope, im not eating that" moments after they've been mad about that food for days, and then allover sudden nope not that one 😂 our cats loved lily's pantry soft food and soups 🫶 when we lost our older cat Kosha we were heartbroken, but our boy Mojo was such comfort for us. Few years later when he became ill, we nursed and loved him for a year, before we knew is time to let him go. It completely broke our hearts. Only now 3 years later, in the past 2-3 months we've started talking about adopting bonded pair. When they die you are left bereft, and it can take long time to grieve 💖

They all need homes…. Took us years to be emotionally ready to choose another pet after losing each of our pets…dog, rabbit horse! So happy you were ready, Blondie and Pepsi are forever in our hearts❤️❤️❤️

I love the cat bowls and toys. They will settle in and be so happy. Glad you will be home for awhile as you will be able to train them not to climb up to certain areas like the fireplace mantle… yes they can be trained lol.
You might want another bed upstairs. But I’m sure they will be sleeping on the bed with you. Kittens are such fun as I’ve had two in the past, but now I have a dog only.

Ban and Beag are so lovely! I had a long-haired black cat for 16 years who was my buddy and companion. I miss him still after all of these years. We have a terrible housing crisis here in the US as well. My son and daughter in law have moved in with me with their 2 black cats (brother & sister), and their 2 dogs. The cats still amuse and terrorize each other even though they are now grown. Wishing you and your new babies a lifetime of happiness! 🐈⬛😽😻

Congrats on the kittens. Their names are so cute and perfect. My senior cat brought home a friend from the feral cat colony, so I haven't been able to have the joy of shelter looking. It's good though. After a lifetime of wanting a black cat, I finally have one thanks to my old boy cat wanting a friend.

My beautiful cat died of cancer. I was having a break from having a pet, I said if a cat needed me it would find me. when I was working in the garden one day. a black cat came through my hedge. Badly injured i took him to the vet. No tag or chip I got him treated and have kept him. No one answered my ‘found cat’ notice. Three years on, I still have him, he is like my shadow.

The kittens are adorable! I have read it is best to have kittens in pairs, so happy times ahead. I liked your little talks about pet ownership. It is a responsibility. We.fostered for a girl in college. We still miss the doggie we cared for, but she was worth the heartache, as she wasthe best we have known, and came at a time she was needed.

Black cats are considered good luck in many cultures. It was the hateful witch hunters who mislabeled them in the same way they did women healers and those who were different. They are blessed to have you as their mum. If they start tossing that litter about you can always get a covered litter box. I had one of those covered (tepee style) cat beds for my wee Chihuahua years ago on the bed as I was afraid I'd knock her off in the night. Next, I had a wicker basket in which I put a human-size bed pillow. I covered it with a bin bag although you can get waterproof pillow protective cases. Then I cover it with a pretty pillowcase. It is easier to wash out a pillow case and blanket than a whole pet bed. I also went to a children's charity shop and bought an infant's bathtub for my Chihuahua who is older now. I did the same thing for her with the pillow and blanket. I found washing the store-bought pet beds is a hassle especially if they are sick in the middle of the night and they always seem to lose their shape. The wee bathtub is sturdy, can be rinsed out in the shower and the side walls are protective of my elderly Chi on the bed at night. Your babies are adorable. They are still exploring I imagine. Such an adventure after being in a small cage compared to having a whole house at their disposal.
