All right all right man you have me kind of damn nervous and worried when I first started watching this video. If I have one of them in the mail on the way to me, I've already got the pipe or have one of those bikes but I like reds and I'm a firm believer in them never had any problems so far. In the name of your video and whatnot and the way you start it off with the suspense, I'm sitting there shaking my head like damn it I may be made a mistake buying this motor. hahaha

Nah man that wasn’t the intention with this video. I was really thinking about whether I should put it up or not but I thought it would be good to influence people the check their engines, whether it’s brand new or not. Mine is fantastic, everyone else that has got one so far has liked it, and I just had those strange few “issues” which ended up not affecting the motor in the least bit, because I took care of them. But I think it’s important to give an accurate description from start to finish of my experience. Order this engine, do not be afraid. Reds is the shit and it’s a brand new engine that they are probably pumping out due to the low price point. Meaning it might be good to just give it a once over! This engine has been a gem from the start, seriously. Just changed my glow plug, took those little aluminum bits out of the carb, and that’s all I’ve done and it’s been fine.

From what I’ve seen of this engine, (ports and timing numbers) it’s pretty much an improved Nova P5. Doesn’t surprise me since Mario Rossi design it

Yeah man that would make sense. I haven’t really posted a video lately( have a lot going on), but I’ve ran 30+ tanks through this this engine and I really like it. Ive ran at my local track in the mountains numerous times with this engine and it’s ran well generally, always starts up easily, and makes really good power. I’ve had a bit of trouble getting it fully dialed, but it’s hard in the conditions I run in. Thousands of feet of elevation, and where my local track is the temperature changes wildly once the sun disappears, so basically I kind of have to tinker and retune a bit during races but that’s totally normal and generally the engine has done me well. Actually just got a 2nd place in 1/8 scale class at backer patch in Marshall, nc after not even touching the kyosho for almost 2 months. Lol. Overall I’m pleased with this engine, really eager to see how it runs with another 2-3 quarts through it because I don’t think I even have a full gallon on it yet. Close though. Thanks for your input and tuning in buddy.

@@jeremywilliamsrc8797 yeah elevation and noticeable temperature change can make for some tricky tuning. This engine and the flashpoint fp02 are probably to 2 best “bang for your buck” engines. Great price and good quality out of both of them. The reds would be my first choice for a good budget engine, but, because the fp02 has a dlc coated crank, that moves it in front of the 521. My dad likes the Italian made engines (Novarossi, Sirio, etc.) so I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a 521 some time in the future

@@ashermorales8276 yeah dude the fp02 is an awesome price for what you get. The crank alone makes it worth it, and while the price did go up a tiny bit, it’s still good and I’ve heard great things about them. I’m a sucker for Italian engines too, besides a few dynamite engines that’s all I’ve ever gone for. Novarossi is/was my favorite and I have a few novas, but it’s not worth it anymore to invest in them or try and find engines because they are done and parts are so hard to find for them. I have a small stash of backup novarossi parts to hopefully keep my engines going, but I hardly run them as it is.

That’s what I’m saying bro. Told the people my exact experience from start to finish. Overall i am impressed by this engine and glad to run and support Reds. Seems like a step up from the reds r5r, even if it’s just in the durability and reliability department. Don’t need massive power for most of these tracks anyway and it does just fine as it is. Thanks for tuning in man, appreciate you.

Usually when the plug is fouled the engine dies when you get on the throttle had the same issue with my os kept dying when I put it on the ground and sure enough the plug was fouled and when I put the new one in the issue was gone

For sure man I noticed the same things over the years with the glow plugs. I’m still eager to try out the new Reds C3 plug and see how it does, or I might switch to a reds ts4 plug that is slightly cooler, when I switch to 30% nitro. Glow plugs are important!

Thanks for the subs man! Always honest about my reviews. Been in the hobby a long time, just started racing last year. Spend my hard earned money on all this stuff and always going to tell it like it is. Since this videos been made though, I will say this engine has been absolutely phenomenal and I’m glad I purchased it.

Thanks for the review on the car and engine. Are you ready to sell me the serpent buggy you have?

    • @jeremywilliamsrc8797

Haha dude I’m going to hold onto that for ever. Wouldn’t be a good investment at this point anyway, I’m almost positive it’s been discontinued and parts will dry up one day.

I really did man. I adore this buggy and it’s just insane how natural it feels at three different tracks in 3 different states. Great, great platform and Yuichi Kanai really knew what he was doing with this. Super blessed with the Reds platform too, they are my new “novarossi”

The engine/ pipe combo? Holy crap, I’ve seen it on Amain, the combo for close to 400$ which is kind of crazy. Glad to see they are making it accessible for most people! (Sarcasm) man I’m glad I got my stuff when I did.
