So nice to see Mr T spring into life. the addition of the mare is really good for his psychological wellbeing, presumably horses and other animals have endorphins and feel good factor, which is always enhanced by a little bit of good old fashioned opposite attraction! The biological drive is absolutely amazing. Best friends for years until a mare shows up then the competition for "rights" ( keeping it polite ) comes out. Won't even come in out of the rain.
All Mr. T needed was a mare in heat to make him feel 10 years younger. Love that they will have new friends to see. Behave Buddy you will get your chance. Mokie just wants some love too. Where you at Stewy?

I think he's 30+ years old now, no? (/edit: Sorry, my mistake, he's 28.) He's a proper old man, but he's doing really good for his age. He definately knows his way around the ladies. 😂
Those are fat pads from metabolic dysfunction, such as Cushing's. His hooves are scooped like that from countless episodes of founder, I'm willing to bet his coffin bone is fully rotated down on xray and the hoof has restructured to compensate. Xrays would be the best way to go with trimming, that way you've got a guide of how to trim to compensate for that coffin bone dropping. When my pony was still alive, the farrier could literally cut that scooped toe straight off to the ground along with some heel to give him a good break over and get pressure off the toe. And he had to be trimmed every 3-4 weeks.

There was a ditch in the field so the owerns' theory is that she might have gone down there and somehow given him a chance to get on or something. The resulting colt turned into a small Icelandic-height pony with a huge head
Donkeys are prone to fat pockets, because they're native to desert type areas. People get em and stick them in a green pasture where they gorge themselves. Donkeys can even have fat pockets with ribs showing.

The lumps are normal. Usually donkeys build and store big fat pockets to get them through the winter and then usually by summer those lumps go away. I'm willing to bet if we seen that donkey in the beginning of winter he probably had much bigger lumps of fat
Look at all the green grass popping up, probably from all that snow😉. Speaking of snow, here in our CO pasture it’s still all covered in the white stuff. LOL.
I just love this clip. The snap shot of Tanner getting after Buddy is priceless. Tanner looks like he is telling Buddy- Boy! You have just gotten on my last nerve and I am going to eat you for lunch!!! And Buddy - not realizing he has just stepped in it is like - Doh!!! Tanner really does put up with a lot from Buddy and he takes it all in stride. It looks like having a mare in heat had reminded him that he takes herd management seriously!

OH NO they have halters on! Nuuu get 'em off! They look like pretty old, loose, ratty ones, too. Hopefully you can convince your neighbors to take them off, Rick. A horse at my barn has similar large fat pockets to the little gray donkey. It's some sort of metabolic condition where fat deposits too much in some places and they get that lumpy look. Can't get rid of it once it's there, as far as I know, but you can manage it so it doesn't get worse.
