You could try bathing with a washcloth for a 'quick wipe'. My piggie seemed to find that less stressful when she needed frequent baths. Also helps prevent dry skin and less drying time

I wish vet will find out which bacteria it is and what antibiotics it is susceptible to. Resistant UTI can be really dangerous.

I hope nugget gets better soon! Saturday one of my piggies past away in my arms, I felt horrible and i cried so much that I literally screamed myself hoars(not to mention my dog had also been put down earlier that morning). I recently left a horrible situation with my mom and my siblings and wasn't able to take him to the vet... I honestly feel partially guilty for his passing even though the situation we are in is not my fault. anyway sorry for the vent, I just now understand how much it sucks to have a sick guinea after almost 5 years with my piggies. I really hope nugget will make a fast recovery!

i am sending vibes and one helpful hint. buy the most expensive thick super absorbent paper towels (like even those blue shop towels), it helps TREMENDOUSLY to dry them off after a butt bath. you can lay them atop the regular towel and do a quick burrito. the amount they draw off is amazingly helpful. and you could be very correct that the UTI is just resistant to the current antibiotic. sending tons of prayers and healing vibes from Jupi and me!!

It's amazing how much guinea pig Critical Care looks like some of my human-style "critical care". For a couple of weeks I depended on potato soup, usually with a nice scoop of saag stirred in, for most of my calories. Now I've added Stouffer's spinach souffles to the routine. And my liquid nutritional supplement looks just like it was scooped right out of a mucky pond. 😋
Soo good!! Whenever theyre sick and the eating slows, I just start with the gas meds, low dose, and give before any gas can start causing pain. I have found it works well as a prevention. But she looks good for being sick! lots of energy :) I also find with the older pigs, I need to treat the infection 2-3 times longer than when they were younger. Hope she is feeling better soon :)

Usually when I need to see if an ill pet eats, they go into a seperate cage but are still able to see the others. It's not nice especially for guinea pigs but I find it more important to really be able to tell what and how much they have eaten and how their poop looks like. Maybe keep that in mind if you are unsure about Nugget eating!
My guinea pig recently went on a hunger strike. She has cancer and is on medication. My normal vet that I go to was off and when I called around one of the other vet's said I could try feeding her baby food. Not saying it's a replacement for Critical Care, but just spreading knowledge.
Anyways, we were able to feed her enough until he was able to see her. She now enjoys her hay and fresh veggies 🥬🐹

I just learned that utis can keep coming back if yer feedin em kibble. I would hold off on kibble fer a few and see what happens.

Just a quick heads up coming from my heart and all good places... UTI + dribble + small poops could mean she has a stone that has traveled to her urethra- partially blocking her pee output thus dribble and causing a tight squeeze for poops to exit. Good news is that if the stones travel down far enough and aren't too big they can be removed without surgery. I'm just sharing this info because when my love of my life got a UTI I was frantic trying to understand what was going on as my vet wanted to do about $2500 worth of testing that didn't include any cures, Unfortunately I could not afford all of it and in the end she had an uncureable problem and I lost her anyway.😢
