    What i liked about Max and Sylvester was that they did'nt do anything unless they had to correct the other pigs. This piggie right away started chasing and jumping on the girls without much reason. He seemed insecure. The introduction for Max was amazing! He was really calm and friendly.

    • @mli3793
      @mli3793 3 года назад +73

      One thing i reacted right away to was that the new pig turned away from Lumi when he was put in the cage and she greeted him. Compare that to Max who at the start greeted Lulu and then greeted everyone else in a calm manor. He did'nt even flinch when the girls made jerky movements. He even stepped away when he saw that Lumi was nervous.

    • @This_Is_Just_To_Say
      @This_Is_Just_To_Say 3 года назад +36

      Yeah, the new pig was a bit high strung. Nugget initially was making a few attempts to have a friendly greeting, but he kept just doing big displays. Lumi tried her best to be unthreatening and out of the way, he kept being pushy anyway. An altercation with Gatsby is probably inevitable, maybe Lulu will be a little resistant too, but being harsh with Nugget and Lumi is pretty unnecessary. He did seem insecure, maybe because he was smaller and young, or because it was a larger herd? He definitely was super cute when he actually laid down and relaxed though. I'm glad that he got a home that was a better fit for him.
      I liked how chill and friendly Max was too; he didn't really do big displays. Confident and polite, greeted everyone nicely, but stood firm when Gatsby challenged him, and even then he still stayed pretty chill and ever ready to be friendly. I remember Julia teasing him, 'you have no natural enemies, do you, Max?' since he was just always so at ease. Sylvester was also really chill, didn't feel much need to assert himself, but he was boss without needing to make a fuss about it.

    Coming back to this video after seeing Fitz's introduction and the contrast is stark. New pig here was very aggressive compared to Fitz who just stuck her nose straight into the hay pile and tried to get along with everyone. It must have been so difficult for you to go through this, especially so soon after losing Max. You handled it so maturely and with aplomb, though. You did everything right within your control from my perspective and intervened at the right time. I'm glad everything worked out in the end with the lovely Fitz (she's a personal favourite of mine as well as Lumi!) but I just wanted to say I hope you don't regret what happened from this experience.
    You were so strong throughout this despite the emotional hurt underlying your voice, and in your Best Kept Guinea Pig secrets video, you admitted to 'chickening out' and getting a younger, female pig instead, but I think it shows just how much you care. That's not cowardice at all. I'm sure you can handle another introduction in the future should you need to. My abby is such a handful & she was from day one. My other female guinea pig doesn't like to be around her at all. My abby was only 6 weeks old when I got her & my other guinea pig hated her on sight. Which is unusual since adult guinea pigs don't usually want to fight with baby ones.
      So that means I have no choice but to keep them separated. Which isn't good because I hate them both being alone. But I'm not allowed to get more guinea pigs & I love them both far to much to rehome them. I try my best to give them both plenty of cuddles.

We adopted him when he was maybe 6 months old...he's looks like Little One..but she got him from a pet store and so we didn't really know at that time he was half cuy! He just kept growing!! 🤣 his personality can be very cuyish at times but other times a cuddle bug!! Love to Everyone! Colleen 💜🌸💐

    It is possible to introduce guinneapigs even when they are aggressive, but it takes time, patience and thick gloves. It can be the new pig OR one from the flock that gets aggressive, the moment they start to strut and challenge, you remove it (thus you need the gloves, things can get heated) and immediately put it in a carrier to settle down.
    This can take from a couple of minutes, up to 15. As soon as all guinneapigs are calm again, put the "excited" one to introduction again. All guinneapigs want to be part of a flock, so getting separated is a big loss for them.
    The first minutes thereafter, all guinneapigs have a calm energy, but the strutting and challenging will happen again, several times, each time the agressive guinneapig will need to be removed to settle down. They can not become one in the flock when they are stressed out anyways, so this is kinder for all, for them to settle down.
    In my case it was one of the existing females that was overly agressive towards two new females, and introduction had failed several times, ending up in separate cages for weeks. When using the method of only letting the agressive guinneapig into the flock when she had settled down, made a successful introduction in about 4 hours. There were some minor scuffles after, but no flying fur.

    I am looking at the first minutes with him in the pen and daaamn he is proprietary like "heeey girls boss here, this is all mine" he is so active girls are probably annoyed by him so much, they actually sit by the door asking silent for it to open so they can escape to their sanctuary. Poor Lumi, she is the Fluttershy of the herd she is so damn scared of the happenings around while Nugget sits there waiting what is going to happen, Gatsby is angry to the core and Lulu is bored and disgusted by the guys proposals :D

    He's so beautiful! Bonding is so stressful! My current boar is also quite full on with new females and with him it really helps to divide the cage and have them side by side for a couple of days before bonding, he gets some of his hormones out of the way and the females get used to his silly behaviour through the bars and aren't so scared when it comes to meeting properly! Also whenever they start squaring up too much I try to distract them with bits of food before everyone starts overreacting.
    Hope you find the right match 🙂

    This is acctually very relatable. We had two male guinea pigs and last year one of them died of the same reason as Max did. We got another guinea pig to keep our remaining guinea pig in company, but we had to seperate them because they were fighting a lot. We tried again but they kept fighting. After a couple months of being seperated we decided to try one last time, I guess they just gave up because there was no point in fighting, and now they are very good friends! I hope you will find a new male guinea pig soon and that they’ll all get along🐹
