He greeted the old girl like a lost love and I could see the memories flooding back. You gave him the best gift....even if it was for a brief moment....his youth. Don't change that truck one bit. Ride with him and listen.

Some people don't understand that this truck represents 70 years of one family's memories. He sees his grandpa his dad himself in that truck. Memories of the past come flooding back to him. The sights sounds good times laughs and cries of the lives he witnessed. All were faded memories until today. What an amazing gift you have given to your grandpa!

I have always felt that people who can restore old cars, trucks, etc. not only restore a piece of history-they bring family together and reminisce the old days, days gone by. There were 3 generations brought together with this pickup truck restoration. Even the gals were checking it all out. What a great hobby!

With so much painful stuff going on in the world today, it was a special gift that you gave us to see something so positive. Rang my heartstrings. I'm a grandpa... and two months ago I got my brother's truck. As he was passing, he said, "...you take my truck...but remember...It's always mine". R.I.P., Mac. Thanks to you all...including Grandpa, for making me drop a few tears (of joy). I gotta get out tomorrow and polish up Mac's ride. She'll NEVER be sold.

It's brakes my hart when I see videos like this. and I know were this young man is coming from. In 1969 during the troubles in the north of Ireland. My dad brought my mum to the reuplic of Ireland in a Ford consul I came back with my dad to look after our home. I was 14 year's old. I found the car. and by the time it took to sort it out. It was to late. My dad past away. And I niver got to see his face when the car was finished. So this young man is very lucky to see the look on his grandfather's face. What a lovely thing to do. God bless you all of you.

Growing up on our farm we had a 1960 or 61 (forget the year) International Travel All which was our regular car a '68 Jeep J6000 work truck and a 1958 Massey Ferguson T35. As a kid I rode a long way in the back of that jeep or standing on the PTO of the tractor. They're all gone, almost certainly scrapped for parts, sure be nice to see them again. As some folks wrote below there's a lot of memories tied up in them, some you forgot you had till you see it up close again.
I'm willing to bet the more he saw it and drove it the more the memories came rushing back.

I should know better than to watch a video like this while I'm eating: I nearly choked myself trying not to sob. I learned a long time ago that old trucks and cars are to men what scrapbooks are to women. I can look down the hill and see an old MG midget that I'm sure that neighbor and his wife must have courted in. Next door, that neighbor keeps a monster of an 70's Ford pickup that he moved his family from California to Kentucky in, and the cars that he drove his children and grandchildren to school in. If you suddenly removed all the houses from this neighborhood, you'd be left with an old car graveyard, and I like it like that. It shows that these men around me were family men, and are still reliving those years.
That said, I'm not sure if I was more moved by the old International and the tears of the old man, or by the God and country tailgate on the truck in front of it. Kudos to this family. I hope this project gives you memories that the grandson will be telling his grandchildren about.

I remember when my grandad passed away, I went with my father to clean up the place and get it ready for sale. All the times I went to my grandad’s house I never went in the garage, but we went inside to see what needed to go to the dump or could be sold. There inside was a 1958 Dodge pickup, the windows had been vandalized but we popped the hood and saw the Firedome V8 was still intact. My Dad thought about fixing it but donated it to the local trade school, wish he kept it. Glad you got this truck going again!
