I am so glad that Christopher Tin likes to use African songs a lot. African songs have a spirituality and a punch that is all their very own. Also very melodious and lyrics are full of joy and deep with meaning.
It's been around 6 years or so, that i got introduced to Christopher Tin's music, and that through a Civ game. I sucked at the game, and even though i kept playing, it brought me to the music. I've been an ardent fan since 2015. Sure, my friends think it's weird to listen to songs and pieces that i don't understand, but there is something there which i cannot put into words. It's the feeling of the music, i suppose. The grand scale of it all, the ambiance, and whenever i clim a hill or go on a hike, i always play from Calling all Dawns, or The drop that contained the sea. There is that grand scale, which is indescribable, that's only understandable when felt. So, thank you. Thank you for all these, the music, the songs. It really is special.
Well said! I agree wholeheartedly! As well :D Calling All Dawns live at Llangollen is my absolute favorite, especially Se É Pra Vir Que Venha sung by Nathalie Pires ruclips.net/video/m2jzfVF7noA/видео.html). This is my go-to music when I work on my business.
I don't think that it is weird to hear music that you don't understand. I've listening English music since I was a teenager and I didn't understand a word at the time. And even if you don't learn the language nothing stops you to get a translation. But even if we ignore all that, the music and voices perse plays a role.
I think we need to start marketing Maestro Tin's music as a general remedy for high blood pressure, acid reflux, depression, and general bad attitude. 8]
I need more friends that listen to this type of music. It's just my brother and me at the moment, and he's 5,000 miles away. :( Got him a signed Baba Yetu score for his birthday last month. And someday when I can afford it, I'll buy a turntable and all of Christopher Tin's albums in vinyl as well!
The rain will come back from heaven The eagle also becomes rain and clouds I'll ride it Where the fields and fields are green Painted boats fly through the air Like a bird that flies, I catch my breath Like a bird that flies, I hold on to the wings Coming tomorrow It will count Let it be tomorrow The day is coming I soar on the surface of the earth, I catch my breath Over the wild beasts of the field, On the seas and lakes Like a bird that flies, Like a bird I sing It will count Let it be tomorrow
After what has happened in South Africa in the past week and the how we are hit by the pandemic, I think this song has to play on radio stations everyday to remind us that "uyeza ungomso kwaye kuzakubalela ngomso" (tomorrow will come and the rain will clear) beautiful song, especially as a isiXhosa speaking person this hits deep.
ONLY TODAY I discover this song on iTunes, and boy am I glad I did! I have since shared with colleagues and friends. I absolutely love it, much like all your work I’ve listened to, it too is moving. Almost indescribable. At best it’s hope-stirring, a shout that “hey, better days are just ahead, hang-on”. Beautiful. I am Zulu qnd also comfortably understand Xhosa, so it’s a crowning moment. Thanks Chris.
I gotta say, I was not really ok just now, and I hear this song. I probably will keep not ok, but now, just for now, I'm so muth better. This song is pure transcending hope, its a shelter in some way, it's a shortcut for God's heart. Thank You Christopher Tin. Love from Brasil💛💚🌻
I've been slacking, apparently. I didn't know this album existed. (I have a bad habit of simply enjoying a product instead of massively fan-girling the one who made it.) And since my bday is coming up soon, my husband finally has a good gift idea. 😎 Looking forward to adding this and the other water-songs to my music library!
Oh my i just love this. Your interpretations are amazing. I can listen to music like this all day it never fails to inspire me in my job within the NHS. It soothes a very weary soul at times xx
Omg I didn't even notice that this came out a couple of months ago. I really like the album this was from. Has been helping me get through these odd times.
This song has inspired me to write a short story. Christopher... I will be contacting your licensing team to see if I can play this song when I publish my story as a visual (short film)
I think Heaven will sound something like this. When all this ends and we all sing in our tongues to praise the Lord. Come back soon Jesus, earth like this can get so tiering. ♥️
Quick question: how do you find native speakers to help you write lyrics or phrase the melody in languages you don't know? Do they just pop out of the woodwork by now or do you have to go looking? Anyway, I'm Norwegian and speak a few other languages too. Just saying...

Whenever i feel demotivated this piece, baba yetu & sogno di volare always help me get back on my feet. Thank you for this wonderful music.
O lol
Does the same for me....
Whenever I'm feeling depressed
Same here! Especially Baba Yetu. There is just something about that song. It’s healing ❤️🩹
So... what you're saying is... you haven't heard Waloyo Yamoni?
jk jk they're great, I just wanted to recommend another VERY motivating one
One of my favourites from The Drop That Contained the Sea. I'm glad to see it got a music video to go along with it.

We could be friends then
Here!!! 😭
But I'm probably also thousands of miles away!!!
The rain will come back from heaven
The eagle also becomes rain and clouds
I'll ride it
Where the fields and fields are green
Painted boats fly through the air
Like a bird that flies,
I catch my breath
Like a bird that flies,

I soar on the surface of the earth,
I catch my breath
Over the wild beasts of the field,
On the seas and lakes
Like a bird that flies,
Like a bird I sing
It will count
Let it be tomorrow
thanks for the lyrics
Just one thing: THANK YOU! I think you can't know the impact your music can have one someones' life... a thousand times, thank you...

I heard this on the radio a few minutes ago and liked it--my grey parrot LOVES it! She was headbobbing up and down and it was delightful!
Can't wait to perform this in June!!!
Where are you performing?
Carnegie Hall?
2:33 this solo. So beautiful
Animated impressionist art juxtaposed with Iza Ngomso fits so well.
This sounds like it'd do great as part of a movie's soundtrack.
😭so beautiful yet still cheerful

Waking up to your music is the best way to start the day!
Way to go Tin, it feels like a mixture of Sogno di Volare and baba yetu
This is exactly what I thought! The chord progression seems a bit similar to sogno as well! Love all the songs!
Be quiet
Would it be pushing one's luck if one hopes for a visualizer video for Waloyo Yamoni? 😬
Also Temen Oblak would be great!
Both of them are my favorite songs in the drop that contained the sea
That would be incredible!
