I got three suggestions. 1) How about a food based fairy type Pokemon. We seem to get those every once in a while. You could make one based on pan concha, which is a traditional mexican pastry. Since concha means shell, you could make it based on an animal with a shell or make it based on an actual chef 2) a normal type three stage evolutionary line based on mariachi bands. Each stage of the evolutionary line could use one of the key instruments in any mariachi band: the first stage a trumpet, second stage a vihuela (small guitar), final stage a huge guitarrón. They could provide the world of the region with its music 3) Final idea, a fairy/ground/ghost type based on la loba, a cryptid lady that searches for animal bones (usually wolves) and one it has a full skeleton brings them to life. Could be super creepy
As a paleontologist, I can only approve of your depictions! It's so refreshing to see lesser-known specimens depicted on your show and you do a wonderful job of describing them in terms that any casual viewer would understand (also if you're into opalized fossils, look up the opalized pliosaurus, you won't be dissapointed!).
Oh I LOVE these, this is super tight! I almost feel like the reigon needs some more plant pokémon? Maybe based on tomatos and cocoa? Mexican cuisine has a huge history with Indigenous/Colonial/African influences mixing and regional cookbooks being so prominent in Mexican nation building in the 1800s that I feel like leaving out some very important Central American food plants might be a disservice
@@Subjectively Even if you don’t pick a food plant, Mexico has plant life from deserts to mangroves to coniferous forests to cloud forests, the grass type options are endless!
based on this, i'd love to see a huitlacoche ("corn fungus") pokemon, maybe as an evolution to a normal corn pokemon. it's a delicacy in mexican culture!
Yes we NEED a cocoa/cacao pokemon. Maybe one based on the pods, evolves into one based on the original drink relating to the Aztecs (with whom it was popular), then evolving into a chocolate bar/something similar?
For the legendaries of this region, I’d love to see some sort of Aztec temple Pokemon, maybe a ghost/rock, that haunts an ancient temple. I think there is a ton of potential for legendaries of a region based on Mexico-
The two evolutions kinda look more like branch evolutions rather than a second and third stage evolution. Just make them look like they're the same size and I think they work better as branch evolutions from the baby shark mon.
yeah like make the orb one a special attacking whale shark with psychic opal orbs and the saw teeth one a physical attacker where the fins become more opal saws now that sounds cool to me
I love the saw tooth shark! I always wanted them to make a Pokémon out of it it feels so fitting! I know this will get lost but I know a lot of hummingbirds migrate to Mexico in the winter. I always though I hummingbird with a. Fire whip tongue that needs to constantly eat to sustain the fire inside of its stomach would be awesome. It’s wingbeats could make heat waves and stuff and you could make it drink lamp oil from ancient lamps and torches.
The hummingbird is also incredibly important to the Aztec religion and culture as the representation of Huitzilpochtli. And Huitzilpochtli is also the sun, so a fire-themed hummingbird again fits well.
I really like the direction you took with the eyes of Charcopal. It really helps differentiate it from the first stage with an elegant, but striking difference from one stage to another.
I love how it captures that sort-of derpy and cute look that docile sharks have. Also I love the image of Pokémon historians and scientist going, "Wait, it's actually a pokemon?" and just majorly facepalming.
they should make it learn psyshock exclusivly for 1. the redundancy or 2. a special interaction that makes psyshock (and maybe a signature move) be the only atacks that do special damage
I’m not very good at explaining things and I didn’t explain his looks so you can research this if you want to. A suggestion for a Pokémon could be about the Waay Chivo. It was said to move at enormous speed, unleashing violent whirlwinds in its wake. Also it was said that a cloud of intense cold envelopes him. So it could be a Flying and Ice type pokemon.
I really like that idea, I remember in generation 3 they had 2 pseudo-legendarys in both salamance and metagross, I do think the axolotle would be a great contender for pseudo legendary, but if you made a second, a powerful dark jaguar Pokémon based on a god that debatably ended the world 4 times over would be cool
I’d love to see some food pokemon! Mexico has a great variety of food. Also, maybe an eeveelution? I think a ghost time would be perfect for a day of the dead pokemon!
I love these concepts so much! I think that the first form is a bit lackluster and could use a soft redesign. I really appreciate that its not another water rock fossil. Final note, i think having a conquistador could be an interesting pokemon. Maybe a centaur with gold armor or something
You might want to reword that Crystal Jaw ability. It makes it sound like ALL attacks will be halved due to special attacks being turned physical and then have their power halved because of that.
Type combos are perfect, and yeah they get steadily cooler and cooler as they evolve, Geocoprion is the coolest. What if your next line was the obligatory “plant Pokémon”. Almost every region has at least one Pokémon that is more plant than animal. So that could be cool to see
I love these fossil Pokemon! Super awesome designs, great shinies, and really cool dex entries. I think it’d be cool for you to make a 3-stage rock Pokemon like Geodude, Roggenrola, or Rolycoly.
I LOVE the swirly eyes of Geocoprion! The secondary Fairy typing really works I'm almost tempted to say that this line would work better as a branched evolution, since the silhouettes are pretty different - Silicanthus has that typical sharp shark snout, while Charcopal's is more rounded (and it has the large sphere on its back, which doesn't get expanded on in Geocoprion's design), and Geocoprion returns to something similar to Silicanthus'
Two observations : - First, the actual version of Silicanthus is too... cartoonised. I really prefered the first version.. - Second, I think Geocoprion isn't long enough. It's supposed to be the last evolution of a shark pokemon so why not making him a large body like a big white shark have ? Great video !!
I love all your fossil Pokémon from the previous video. I loved the ones in this video too! Hopefully, you and the subjectivists will do more stuff like this in the future.
I’m inviting a trainer with a charcopal to my next dance party I’m kidding though, the Geocoprion line is amazing! I’m a sucker for a combination of bright rainbow and monochrome. Also the ability and battle style is really unique! I just overall love the line; might even be my favorite!
Duuuude the wheel spinning charging the horn is awesome. I can see its eyes lighting up before the horn too, so it looks like the energy is moving from the jaw to the forehead
I hope this doesn’t sound rude, but the second form was more impressive to me. When it evolved it appeared to ge smaller, and lose stunning details in the eyes. It’s obviously your creature, but I just found myself a person who’d everstone it after it evolved once.
I love this Pokémon line and the inspirations behind it. All the fossil Pokémon in the Mazah region seem to have augmented preservation compared to others. The stethacanthus and helicoprion are also two of my favourite prehistoric animals
Gotta hand it to you, Subjectively. It's not often you can just straight up make a shark with a *fricken laser beam* head and have that not be the most immediately notable thing about its design. Really stands as a testament to how well-made it is as a whole. Keep up the good work!
I would love to have this as a Pokemon omg. This was awesome. A entertaining and informative video as well! Learned what some shark ancestors looked like and we're besides the megladon! As well as learning how nature can preserve fossils! Lovely and amazing video!
Thanks for introducing me to opal odd fossils! I’m surprised I’ve never heard of them before, and I’d definitely take this fossil with me! This may have been suggested before, but a Pokémon based on the chupacabra, in a similar fashion to Mewtwo. In regards to northern Mexico, I think it is mostly explained as a coyote with mange or an experiment of the US govt. that got loose (hence the mewtwo suggestion) Perhaps also a killer bee inspired Pokémon? Since they’ve been reported to have spread there.
These are awesome designs, and I really like the thematic contrast between the land animal and the water one, along with the visual contrast of the gem vs tar, but also the connection they both have in iconic fossilized teeth. Good choice. Regarding new pokemon, there's a few things I really want to see. Specifically, birds and mythology. There are so many important and iconic birds in the Americas, especially in central America. You have hummingbirds, condors, turkeys, and Terror birds. I really really want turkeys as a serious pokemon, partially cause I like the challenge, but also because they were the primary livestock of the Aztec empire, and no one respects turkeys. They do fly! Besides that, I really want to see more incorporation of Aztec and Mayan mythology. I want to see a legendary pokemon based on Cipactli, a giant frog, alligator, shark thing that is essentially the world and has mouths everywhere. huitzlipochli is the sun, rain, and warrior god, that was one of the most important Aztec deities, and when an Aztec warrior died, Huitlipochli would bring them back as a hummingbird.! There's a bunch of other really cool stuff from Aztec mythology that could be used for pokemon; obsidian winged butterflies associated with Itzpapalotl, mirror jaguars connected to Tezcatlipoca, or the most obvious, a winged serpent! Basically, I love the series, love this episode, just want more birds and myths.
I LOVE THIS CONCEPT SO MUCH! If you ever do end up coming back to it, keep the typing, it's very unique! I think the 1st & 2nd stage could use a little more personality, maybe be a little mischievous or cunning. The 3rd stage feels a little small in comparison to the other 2 and the contrast between massive fearsome shark and magical crystals could be played up a bit more. But seriously, I love how much effort you put into researching these mons, so keep up the fantastic work!
I love to see a pokemon with an unusual evolution method! Like Milcerie spinning, or gender based evolution, or location based evolution. Some minor world building added in for the sake of the evolution could be great fun and could allow for further exploration later on. Itd be great to see some pokemon based on Cenotes, natural swimming holes that are beautiful and serene. Or based on some of the Mayan or Aztec buildings, building off of your fire line. Keep up the fantastic work :D
Fantastic! I'm a big fan of prehistoric animals, especially marine ones so seeing how much time was put into making sure your references were accurate was really great to see. Awesome work Subjectively!
I also love the good all anvil fined bois, but I didn’t know that neither they nor chimaeras were not sharks. I guesss you really do learn something new every day!
Helicoprion is so freaking amazing! I love ancient sharks and shark-like species. Cool how sharks, dolphins, and icthyosaurus were all different animal groups with the same convergent evolution. Also there is a really cool sea slug shaped like a fish for the same convergent evolution reasons.
The minute you said 'opal' and I saw the thumbnail I *immediately* went 'Opal Helicoprion'! I'm so glad you went with it. Super cool combo and great execution.
Love the sharks really inventive in the use of fragile structures now charged with energy as a form of attack and not just resortingto pure brute force . As for my recommendation how about a terror bird ? Those buggers were a unique apex predator to south and central America. Would be real interesting to see what you come up with.
I absolutely love the idea of basing fossil pokemon off of different aspects of fossilization, instead of "here's another rock type dinosaur." Reminds me of what I'm doing for my own region. I look forward to what's next. Keep up the great work!!
I really like that you chose fairy for the secondary typing, it was nice and surprising to see. I really like it and puts a more positive spin on sharks, plus i think its association magical properties of the opal, I think it fits quite well
Crystal Jaw makes this a physical sweeper that's immune to attack drops like Intimidate and being burned, and also circumvents contact abilities/items like Iron Barbs or Rocky Helmet I love this concept!!!

A steel type could be based on a conquistador
@@i_love_lying maybe mixed with influcences from don quixote, as a somewhat silly pokemon making up fights against things like rocks or trees, instead of real opponents
And an ice type could be a puma or mountain lion like pokemon that freezes its prey before they can run away
@Bruno Caruso Ghost-Steel Aztec Gold? Iʻm in.
@@i_love_lying a steel/ghost conquistador would be cool, like the ghost of a previous conquistador who now possesses metallic objects similar to what they used to have
These are always so awesome, I feel like the second evolution the eyes looked more pokemon at 6:41 when it was blackened
I find it weird that we humans can casually say “iconic mass extinction”
I mean, we are casually enacting a mass extinction right now without knowing it, and we enjoy stylization, so it would make sense that if we can stylize a mass extinction we can say “iconic mass extinction” casually.
I got three suggestions.
1) How about a food based fairy type Pokemon. We seem to get those every once in a while.
You could make one based on pan concha, which is a traditional mexican pastry. Since concha means shell, you could make it based on an animal with a shell or make it based on an actual chef
2) a normal type three stage evolutionary line based on mariachi bands. Each stage of the evolutionary line could use one of the key instruments in any mariachi band: the first stage a trumpet, second stage a vihuela (small guitar), final stage a huge guitarrón. They could provide the world of the region with its music
3) Final idea, a fairy/ground/ghost type based on la loba, a cryptid lady that searches for animal bones (usually wolves) and one it has a full skeleton brings them to life.
I didn’t even think about that but you’re totally right, the only grass types we have right now are the starters!
@@Subjectively Even if you don’t pick a food plant, Mexico has plant life from deserts to mangroves to coniferous forests to cloud forests, the grass type options are endless!
@@Subjectively Oh and also the Regional Maractus
based on this, i'd love to see a huitlacoche ("corn fungus") pokemon, maybe as an evolution to a normal corn pokemon. it's a delicacy in mexican culture!
Yes we NEED a cocoa/cacao pokemon. Maybe one based on the pods, evolves into one based on the original drink relating to the Aztecs (with whom it was popular), then evolving into a chocolate bar/something similar?
From the moment he mentioned shark I had a feeling Helicoprion was gonna make an appearance, and the result blew me away. Absolutely outstanding
Just make them look like they're the same size and I think they work better as branch evolutions from the baby shark mon.
yeah like make the orb one a special attacking whale shark with psychic opal orbs and the saw teeth one a physical attacker where the fins become more opal saws now that sounds cool to me
Hoo boy, a great way to start the morning!
Wait it isn't morning here *checks timezone* ... oh
..where i live its 3 pm
The juxtaposition of your phosphophylite (I butchered that spelling) image and the gemstone theme of todays video is amazing
@@dr.latency34 yea same lol
@@Spiceonthehill I'm in Cali, so yeah, it was morning here.
These I think are my favorite thing you’ve done! Especially how you got the opal to look!
Now we need an armadillo Pokémon!
I love how it captures that sort-of derpy and cute look that docile sharks have.
Also I love the image of Pokémon historians and scientist going, "Wait, it's actually a pokemon?" and just majorly facepalming.
I think another cool thing would be to make prehistoric ancestors of the starters
a Mazah Region design video? I didn't expect much from my birthday this year but this is a gift I accept wholeheartedly
Happy Birthday, my your mental health be fine
*may
Happy Birthday my guy!
happy birthday dude !!
dude, happy birthday!
I lthink the 1st evolution needs different eyes, all the other are crystallized like and the 1st evolution has kinda derpy regular eyes
Nobody’s talking how cool the signature ability these sharks got
YES
they should make it learn psyshock exclusivly for 1. the redundancy or 2. a special interaction that makes psyshock (and maybe a signature move) be the only atacks that do special damage
Special attacks doing physical damage with 45 attack isn't a good ability unless it means using the defense stat
@@spadeschaoser9046 Yes it means it will be using the oponent's defense stat, its literaly just psyshock for every atack
10:32 _finally the axolotl acknowledgement!_ *can’t wait*
YESSSS I WASN'T EXPECTING THIS!
wasn't expecting this to reach my recommendations too
Wow, this has to be my favorite I seen you do ever. I really love this pokemon design.
i absolutely love these - i've been wanting another shark pokemon for ages and these are so creative and wonderful!
Your art is so inspiring I learn alot just by watching your creative process
dude, same! artist like ourselves could really learn a lot from this channel!
Yeah
Tezcatlipoca .. Might be intresting to look at. . for inspiration
"as note in aztec mythology he was sometimes the rival of the feathered serpent ".
Two ideas for what to do next: you could go ahead and design the next gym leader, or you could design some Ice types for the region.
It makes it sound like ALL attacks will be halved due to special attacks being turned physical and then have their power halved because of that.
tomatillo pokemon! they have an interesting dried out husk with the fruit inside, which i feel lends itself to a lantern.
Type combos are perfect, and yeah they get steadily cooler and cooler as they evolve, Geocoprion is the coolest.
What if your next line was the obligatory “plant Pokémon”. Almost every region has at least one Pokémon that is more plant than animal. So that could be cool to see
Like The Tsareena/Lillygant of The Region?
@@Mattno.777 yeah, if you look back every region has one or two
Like Vileplume, Victreebell, Carnivine, Cacturne, Gossifluer, ect
@@sharksuperiority9736 Yeah, we need the Feminine Plant of The Region.
I love these fossil Pokemon! Super awesome designs, great shinies, and really cool dex entries.
I think it’d be cool for you to make a 3-stage rock Pokemon like Geodude, Roggenrola, or Rolycoly.
That crystal jaw ability is really cool. And I think the half fairy type fits its looks perfectly
Feel like the third stage feels like a first or second stage, doesn't have the aggression that say a Tyranitar or a Charizard has
We gotta get a Maize Pokémon. It’s such an important crop in the history of Latin America.
we got one eventually lol
If I ever had a geocoprion, I'd name it SawJaw
I LOVE the swirly eyes of Geocoprion! The secondary Fairy typing really works
I'm almost tempted to say that this line would work better as a branched evolution, since the silhouettes are pretty different - Silicanthus has that typical sharp shark snout, while Charcopal's is more rounded (and it has the large sphere on its back, which doesn't get expanded on in Geocoprion's design), and Geocoprion returns to something similar to Silicanthus'
These are simply fantastic. Huge appreciation for the amount of research that went into each design.
Here are some fossil names: Glimmering tooth, Blazing Comet and Goopy tusks
Maybe glimmering tooth, Strange Meteorite, and Sticky tusk. Good idea!
@@godsendgaming6857 thanks. I forgot about this comment its been so long 💀💀
@@blankzz1 Hey man! no problem.
Velociraptor mantis! Like a scyther offshoot.
Oh goodness I LOOVE the Crystal Jaw Ability, question on it, does Psystrike switch twice, just becoming a special move again?
This is so cool! And I love that it has some realistic stats. I would absolutely use this Pokemon as a staple on my team!
Great ability idea for the last evolution. I'd love this on my team
Two observations :
- First, the actual version of Silicanthus is too... cartoonised. I really prefered the first version..
- Second, I think Geocoprion isn't long enough. It's supposed to be the last evolution of a shark pokemon so why not making him a large body like a big white shark have ?
Great video !!
i like your pfp
that is all
ya i do think the first rendition was a lot cuter
The 3rd stage looks like a second stage, just doesn't look long enough to me
Yeah, 2nd stage looks more like a final form.
It’s probably just the perspective
agreed, the 2nd stage should be a little stubbier, and the 3rd one longer
This is awesome!
I love how they aren’t water type. Instead of making it basic you make it cool
I love all your fossil Pokémon from the previous video.
I loved the ones in this video too!
Hopefully, you and the subjectivists will do more stuff like this in the future.
RUclips why dont you notify me earlier ive been waiting for this
I’m inviting a trainer with a charcopal to my next dance party
I’m kidding though, the Geocoprion line is amazing! I’m a sucker for a combination of bright rainbow and monochrome. Also the ability and battle style is really unique! I just overall love the line; might even be my favorite!
wow amazing pokemon and great etymology if it were you I would draw a kind of pokemon inspired by the Mexican legend of "opossum and fire"
Love fairy type and really wish I could put any of these guys on my team!! Looks awesome, and I learned something new from the concept!
Duuuude the wheel spinning charging the horn is awesome. I can see its eyes lighting up before the horn too, so it looks like the energy is moving from the jaw to the forehead
Idea: You could've his third evolution be an alt second one that's more Physical attack centered and the regular one be more Special type centered
I hope this doesn’t sound rude, but the second form was more impressive to me. When it evolved it appeared to ge smaller, and lose stunning details in the eyes. It’s obviously your creature, but I just found myself a person who’d everstone it after it evolved once.
Yeah
Yooooo here before the notif and excited
I love this Pokémon line and the inspirations behind it. All the fossil Pokémon in the Mazah region seem to have augmented preservation compared to others. The stethacanthus and helicoprion are also two of my favourite prehistoric animals
I've seen this video numerous times since it came out, yet I never noticed that crazy ability!
Just as I was wondering what yo draw
Gotta hand it to you, Subjectively. It's not often you can just straight up make a shark with a *fricken laser beam* head and have that not be the most immediately notable thing about its design. Really stands as a testament to how well-made it is as a whole. Keep up the good work!
I would love to have this as a Pokemon omg. This was awesome. A entertaining and informative video as well! Learned what some shark ancestors looked like and we're besides the megladon! As well as learning how nature can preserve fossils! Lovely and amazing video!
Using opal fossils as insspiration was a great idea, and the results are beautiful!
Thanks for introducing me to opal odd fossils! I’m surprised I’ve never heard of them before, and I’d definitely take this fossil with me!
This may have been suggested before, but a Pokémon based on the chupacabra, in a similar fashion to Mewtwo. In regards to northern Mexico, I think it is mostly explained as a coyote with mange or an experiment of the US govt. that got loose (hence the mewtwo suggestion)
Perhaps also a killer bee inspired Pokémon?
Basically, I love the series, love this episode, just want more birds and myths.
that last evolution looks so cool! your pokemon designs are amazing
9:33 should've made the back fin have some opal built into it
I LOVE THIS CONCEPT SO MUCH!
I just took one glance at the thumbnail and I am already excited, Heliceprions are pretty neat!
My fav was the first evolution. Love how the eyes look all shinie and the huge gem on its bag is literally the cherry on top
I really like it and puts a more positive spin on sharks, plus i think its association magical properties of the opal, I think it fits quite well
Crystal Jaw makes this a physical sweeper that's immune to attack drops like Intimidate and being burned, and also circumvents contact abilities/items like Iron Barbs or Rocky Helmet
I love this concept!!!
THAT WAS SO COOL!!!
Fantastic work!!
Hmmm...
Maybe try designing what the villain team will be, and maybe even base them off of any folklore about bandits
