Sonic the Hedgehog: Imposter Syndrome (Full Story Explained)

Wow I've been sitting on this video for a while now, working on it off and on over several months. Now that I've covered most of the Sonic news that has dropped as well as Sonic Prime I figured it would be the perfect time to finish this video and get into more Sonic IDW lore. Imposter Syndrome is a great miniseries that introduces us to two new villains Surge and Kit who are creations of Dr Starline. Here we see their tragic origin unfold as Starline schemes to take down Eggman.

Surge and Kit are definitely my favorite characters to come out of IDW. They’re honestly so tragic and I feel so bad for them. Both had their entire lives, personalities, and existences erased and rewritten to be pawns in a mad doctor’s personal vendetta.
Also, Surge and Kit seem to have a bit of a reversal of imposter syndrome with each other. Kit seems to have a much more clear imposter syndrome, where he clearly is very powerful and smart but does not believe in himself and lets his fear and anxiety control him, as well as the idea he’s a sidekick. Surge on the other hand, is very brash about how she can take down obstacles easily even though her current ability is no where near that level. One has high ability and low esteem, the other has low ability and high esteem. But I think Surge secretly knows, unconsciously or not, that she really can’t do what she claims, and is kind of in denial about it, so she does take on those challenges to try to prove herself wrong, and the frustration of not being able to accomplish them only fuels her, creating a toxic loop.

I really like Surge and Kit, IDW has done a really good job with their original characters. They both have doubts about their abilities for sure. I truly think they might be the most tragic villain's we've seen in Sonic, they are just so lost and angry at the world because of Starlines experiments.
