The easy answer would be to sell the new strap with a new female receiver for the actual headlamp body. The female receiving piece is a small rectangular piece of plastic and should add a dollar or two to the cost of a new band and thereby save all the brain damage of refitting a new band to an old mount. Why the manufacturer, in this case Petzel, wouldn’t do such a simple thing for the convenience of the customer is a complete mystery. Just sayin’! The real answer: Petzl wants the customer to just buy a whole new complete unit instead of trying to keep using a totally functional light with a cosmetically/ functionally challenged band. 🤕🙄😱😡😝
I hate my Petzl Strap.

Very unclear of how the final adjustment gets done, petzl need to rethink and provide a much simpler method
It could be a lot simpler with a redesign
