Used my Akto since +25 years. Still as new, no issues. Longest period half a year bike travelling in the northern hemisphere, and mountaineering. Often without inner tent, which makes it suitable for two persons.
Thank you for your kind reply. I got my tent in good condition without the vent. Have heard that people with later tents have had a little water coming though that area on the vent sometimes.
I find i can peg down both ends and partially tighten the guy lines. Only then do i add the pole...because this increases the surface area. While you might think you couldn't put the pole in once the footprint dimensions had been set, in practice this dosent seem to be a problem. The side guy lines are definetly for last and one of these is attached to my rucksack. This attachment is made first and broken last: when the final peg is ready to go in. I also bought long Y pegs for the four guy lines that keep the tent upright.
When I set up my Akto for first time, I did exactly same. I peg down both ends first and then I put a pole in. After that I did sort out guy lines. Since then I been setting it up same way for whole 8 day bicycle tour. never had an issue. Did not realise it is not an official way to do it , but who cares, it works for me. On official video the man opens and secure the outer tent door and we can see it flapping, it's done wrong. So I do not take this instruction and set up steps as a must do .
I think replacing the vertical poles at the ends with smaller prebent hooped poles would be much better. Wouls help prevent sagging at the ends the flat top. The enan kind of achieved this with a triangular shape but id prefer a 4 season version with top vents
Hi guys has anyone had issues with the seam above the door vent leaking? I dreamed of owning an akto for years and finally got one this weekend and that seam leaks … quite badly (you can see this in the video on my channel) iv complained to hilleberg but I just wondered if this was an issue with all aktos ? Great video 👍

Wouldn't it be good if you make the entrance out of two materials to make it more versatile? The second one like in Enan out of mesh. It would be very convenient in hot weather. If not with two zippers (which would be heavier), then you could sew Velcro on the tent, and sell the mesh separately for those who needs it. Like mosquito net. I think versatility should outweighs several grams added.
Yes, the top third of the Akto inner tent door is no-see-um mesh that is covered by a velcro-adjustable fabric panel. You can see that demonstrated on page 18 of the Akto instruction booklet, which is linked below. docs.hilleberg.net/pitching/H11-Instructions-Akto-WEB-012219.pdf
cheaper tents are made from cheaper materials, and they are mass produced. a hilleberg will last a very long time and not fail you in high winds and rain
There is no height on the floor, this is harmful. There must be at least five centimeters above zero.If the door is open all the bugs inside no protection..
+Stephen Scott If you want a light tent that will survive extreme conditions i`m not sure you can do better. On the other had this tent isn't stable i.e it's noisy/flappy in moderate to strong winds. I don't know about their other tents, but my impression is that they all fit their designed use well. The fabric is exceptionally good, the poles are pretty standard high end poles and the designs are very thoughtfull. There is also a second hand market worth considering (for buying/disposing) of a tent. You could easily buy one second hand, use it for a few trips and sell it for similar money. That would be extremely good value!
To clarify. By stable, i mean resisting movement and staying quiet. It dosent do either of these things, but as you say, it will survive very high winds. It is strong, but that dosent mean sleeping it it during high winds is a pleasent experiance. This is a trade off because of the low weight. If you want stability in high winds you will have to look at a semi-geodesic or geodesic design; these weigh more.

The guy comes with one backpack and leaves with another... good tipps in the video. I like my akto, can‘t wait to use it again
😂
You need video of the Akto with the mesh inner and the Akto inner standalone options.

Found out from Hilleberg that the top vent for the Akto was added in 2000 -2201.
When was the top vent added after 1995 when the tent was first made. Anybody know?

awesome tent

Hi. It would be best to send the video example to our customer service team at tentmaker@hilleberg.se. They would have the most information.
Whats the black strap (on the ground at the entrance) for? Mine came loose and it didnt seem to change anything...
To take tension off the entrance zip
I already own this tent but which model is the backpack at the beginning?
The brand is Lundhags, but I'm not sure which specific model it is.
Just got one in the sale from woodlore £429.00 bargain, cheers Ray.
This is a very good tent. Take note other tent makers!!!!!!
This is a super expensive tent, is it really as good as all the hype ???
yes

Probably, never owned one but had a Phoenix once, it was gold and Hilleberg are in that class.

@@HillebergTentmaker now I see it. Thanks!
Hi again, Hilleberg,
Is it true that you discontinued the production of Akto mesh inner tent?
why is this £600 can someone explain why its so expensive?
cheaper tents are made from cheaper materials, and they are mass produced. a hilleberg will last a very long time and not fail you in high winds and rain
Forget about the price and take it. Used mine +25 years. Nothing but positive to tell ...
He leaves with a different backpack than he arrived with.... hilarious.
if you found that hilarious, you should watch some paint drying out, it dries a slightly different colour - sidesplitting!
I want those pants...
but he would look silly with no pants!
You need to ask him out on a date before you get in his pants. 👖
Do I like that!!!!!!!
I do all four corners first.
Man, that pack sure looks heavy...

Has that guy set a tent up before🤔 cause that was terrible to watch
No, first time. Why do you think the nice lady was telling him how to do it step by step? Duh
I’m so impressed with Hilleberg tents. but DAMN, $600+ ?! I’m on the fence…..

+Stephen Scott ....You pay fro what you get. Want cheap, low quality crap buy a Vango Banshee lol
How can this tent not be stable - there's footage on here of the tent standing up to an 85mph wind!

Looks a quality tent but still massively over priced.
