Stargate was such a brilliant sci-fi universe. The stargates themselves gave the option of having so many stories. The Goa'uld, early Replicators and the Wraiths were super powerful but with sensible weaknesses. The Goa'uld had both really interesting and deep villains and huge armies of Jaffa at the same time. I love the Stargate universe, and Star Wars of course. Think you could do Galactic Empire vs. Gou'ald Empire? Their weapons, tactics, and fleets have generally the same objectives and weaknesses. They are meant to inspire fear, crush unrest, and disperse small scale rebellion. However, they both have trouble against large scale insurgencies, and even other large space faring factions. I dont know about you guys, but it would be fascinating to see these two factions in a straight up galactic domination fight against each other.
I agree that both empires followed similar ship building designs and combat doctrines making them fairly comparable unlike most inter settling match ups with both sides ships being similar in power (The Ha'Tak was upgraded massively over the series so at least one version would have been of equal power). The main weakness of the Gou'ald in such a conflict would be that they lacked a large industrial base due to keeping pretty much all their worlds at pre feudal tech levels. But even with this they had the tech needed to still producer at least several thousand Ha'Tak class ships which based off what we are shown in some episodes could be built in a couple of months with little more than several thousand slaves and a sort of semi-organic growth (see the episode Thor's Chariot to see what i mean though in said episode they may not have been Ha'Tak class but another Cruiser style warship, they sort of grew or phased into existance).
Galactic Empire would decimate the Gou'ald sadly, the Empire had millions of warships and trillions of soldiers not to mention their empire had a million remember worlds.
Missing my 2 favourites, (though one was the space station the system lords met in so probably doesn't count), the ancient Tel'tak Osiris escaped in looked good in all silver. They certainly do build them to last!

I think a lot of people forget that cloaking devices weren't installed in standard Tel'taks. We rarely saw a tel'tak without one, but that wasn't because the standard model had a cloak, it was because most of the time the main characters were dealing with the sorts of people who modified their tel'taks with cloaking devices. Also...where the hell did literally _any_ episode mention al'kesh having cloaking devices?
@@ThePCguy17 Pretty sure there are others, that one just stood out to me. That specific Al'kesh had cloaking as it was the one Osiris used when she was messing with Daniel in his dreams. Early show Al'kesh had no cloaking, but around the time of Ba'al and Anubis they start appearing as I remember it.
If there's one thing that sci-fi writers/creators have proven, it's that if you combine a real-world mythology/ancient culture with science fiction and awesome spaceships you are sure to make an awesome show/game.
I thought tel'taks usually didn't have cloaks. The ones that did were generally modified by bounty hunters or smugglers, not by the goa'uld themselves. That may have changed in later seasons though when we started seeing more of them with cloaks.
Good one, wow, the wraith make look the empire like the saviors, not only good guys, but Heroes. Even the bugs from Starship Troopers(the novel, not those terrible movies) are better.

Have you made a video about the gunstar from the last starfighter? Im looking and can't find one. If you haven't made one yet I'm looking forward to the day when you do.
The thing I don't understand about the Goa'uld's complacency in military technology is the fact that they were often fighting against each other, not merely using their military forces to suppress rebellion. You would think they would try for any advantage they could get.
Great overview of the ships, thanks. Maybe I'm a tad late with this question but, are the ships, transport rings, staff weapons designed by the Ancients, by the Goa'uld, or are they some kind of synthesis?
I’d love to see more of these fleet overviews for series that maybe don’t have quite as much technical details on individual ships. One of these for the Earth Federation or the Principality of Zeon from Gundam wouldn’t go amiss. ;)
I am not entirely certain that Anubis' main weapon was a planet killer. Like yeah it wiped out all life on abydos, but I am pretty sure all of the human settlements were close to the gate. And later they said that testing the weapon with the naquadria boost, "could destroy the city". It does seem very powerful, but I haven't seen anything that convinces me it could destroy a planet or all life on a fully populated one.
one thing i've noticed is that anytime the 2000 jaffa troop capacity is mentioned in the show in regards to earth everyone gets all worried. and i'm like. "there were 6 *billion* people on earth when this episode was made. something like 30 million of them are uniformed military troops." the characters talk about the danger to earth of a Goa'uld fleet "a few hundred ships combined" in regards to troops, but the only real danger is the orbital bombardment. as far as ground troops the Goauld would get some footholds early on but once the shock value wore off, they'd probably get slaughtered through attrition.
Earth would stand no chance, ground troops and all. It was shown that in multiple universes and on a few occasions that the goauld stomped humanity, the Jaffa decimating ground troops. Their plasma weapons would simply burn through any armour, easily.

Sadly, if i remember correctly, MGM no longer has the rights to Stargate, they went back the the original creator who wanted to remake the movie and make a trilogy. On top of that the original creator hated the TV shows and said they should have never been made.
Ya the og creator is just jealous because the series did better than the movies and with that he basically is just holding the rights so no one can reboot or restart the series. That's how I see it

@@michaelesposito2629 I truly hate how important words and phrases are cheapened by lazy users of the language. Nothing against you for reporting the listed definition, I am just generally disappointed in humans generally.
There were (Possibly) 2800 Hatak motherships in the MW prior to the SG-1 series. The SG writers very much underestimated the production capacity of galactic powers and the attrition of war. 60 Hiveships is nothing, 40 something were destroyed during Atlantis. In order to actually overwhelm a race like the Lanteans, who's warships could shred Hives, try 10x that many, and about 5 cruisers for each.
Actually, the 60 hive figures was never said to be the total amount. It was an extrapolation based upon the 24 in their sector, but that doesn't mean much. Considering how many were destroyed on screen alone, i think it's clear that the Hives were more numerous than expected. Secondly, the Lanteans faced a different wraith, one united and with a single purpose. After that, the Wraith fell to apparent infighting and population control. Lastly, the Hiveship is not mean to be a warship, Cruisers are. Cruiser firepower to size ratios are vastly superior to that of Hiveships.
The Wraith are one huge plot hole. The Lanteans (acneints) in SGA are way dumber and posses faaar less advanced technology than in SG-1. Furthemore, SGA sucked big time. It lacked a coherent plot from maybe the second half of the 1st season.
nehorlavazapalka And they lack any sort of cruiser, an in between the Hatak/Alkesh, the Hatak was heavily armed but primarily a transport. The Galactic Empire has 25,000 I-Star Destroyers and 5000 additional capital ships. The Goa'uld were the largest Empire in the MW. Granted, they fought constantly, but that just increases need for production. The last 4 seasons of SG1 were more fantasy fluff then 1-6, with 1-5 being the best. They never addressed the Aschen, the Nox, Tollan, Oannes, Alterans, and numerous others. SGA has great humor and interpersonal interactions but yes, it's full of inconsistencies and holes. It ruined the Ancients. The Ancients were aw inspiring mysterious demigods...until we see Walmart level competence in SGA. The Lanteans should have easily beaten the Wraith, unless the numbers were beyond anything seen in SG. I also assume the captured ZPMs were used to grow more ships quickly. As soldiers, the Wraith from the crashed supply ship showed genuine potential as a threat to the Lanteans, who were supposed to be superhuman.
considering that ship of its size would be otherwise IMPOSSIBLE to land except if you found some crazy rare completely flat and STABLE area to do so ... yeah the pyramid landing pads actually make sense
What about the Death Glider that we saw in the pilot of Stagate SG1 that came with a Ring Transporter. Apophis used it to transport his new wife and himself to the Chulak Stargate. I doubt that is a standard configuration.

Early show Al'kesh had no cloaking, but around the time of Ba'al and Anubis they start appearing as I remember it.
The stealth cloaks were only rare modifications as far as I remember. Great video tho.
If there's one thing that sci-fi writers/creators have proven, it's that if you combine a real-world mythology/ancient culture with science fiction and awesome spaceships you are sure to make an awesome show/game.
Wow...amazing video!!! keep up the good work!!!
6:09 imagine seeing three of these at the supergate battle.
I thought tel'taks usually didn't have cloaks. The ones that did were generally modified by bounty hunters or smugglers, not by the goa'uld themselves. That may have changed in later seasons though when we started seeing more of them with cloaks.
can you do the wraith?
Stratoship lee he did a video on the wraith dart fighter
i mean the fleet assessment
Good one, wow, the wraith make look the empire like the saviors, not only good guys, but Heroes. Even the bugs from Starship Troopers(the novel, not those terrible movies) are better.
Strange I remember to have read somewhere, that the al'kesh was actually very inefective in defending against, and thus vulnerable to, fighters due to the poistion of it's turret (which only bears the firepower of a single deathglider).
Crazed Archeologist tears down galactic power network in search for his wife, only to have his best friend murder her 2 seconds after he's found her instead
Were there ever any cheops ships in SG-1? I only recall it in the movie.
YEESSSSS, Thank you Spacedock!!!!!
Jack: "How long till we get this pyramid open?"
Daniel: "It's a ziggurat."
Jack: "What?"
Have you made a video about the gunstar from the last starfighter? Im looking and can't find one. If you haven't made one yet I'm looking forward to the day when you do.
I would like to see your take on how you would do the battle of new caprica I am very curious of you take
I'm still upset the Anubis flagship didn't make the cut for top 5 dreadnoughts but 2 kinds of Super Star Destroyers did.
I like that you use music from battle zone 2 in your intro.
The thing I don't understand about the Goa'uld's complacency in military technology is the fact that they were often fighting against each other, not merely using their military forces to suppress rebellion. You would think they would try for any advantage they could get.
Well done, sir! Well done!
Wasn't there 2 version of the Ha'tak? I remember the design changing in the show for a sleeker, darker and larger variant.
Great overview of the ships, thanks.
Maybe I'm a tad late with this question but, are the ships, transport rings, staff weapons designed by the Ancients, by the Goa'uld, or are they some kind of synthesis?
@IJN Yamato thanks for taking the time, helpful reply.
Stargate! I look forward to each factions fleet!
before I even hear out what you say in the video, I hear a song file from Battlezone 2. instant like.
"there were 6 *billion* people on earth when this episode was made. something like 30 million of them are uniformed military troops."
the characters talk about the danger to earth of a Goa'uld fleet "a few hundred ships combined" in regards to troops, but the only real danger is the orbital bombardment. as far as ground troops the Goauld would get some footholds early on but once the shock value wore off, they'd probably get slaughtered through attrition.
You don't think more than a few Earth nations wouldn't ally with the Goa'uld out of foolish short sighted self interest?
Earth would stand no chance, ground troops and all. It was shown that in multiple universes and on a few occasions that the goauld stomped humanity, the Jaffa decimating ground troops. Their plasma weapons would simply burn through any armour, easily.
I love this channel , thanks. How about 1980s Buck Rodgers ships please
I really love this video.
wow thank you, this was really cool.
these vids are brilliant, quick pace and factual (for made up ships), good photos and vids in action, would love to see a vid on the Asuran cruiser from stargate atlantis or andromeda from gene roddenberrys andromeda
Can't believe the pyramids were landing sites for these ships. That's incredible
Nice, I wanna see Ori next
Basically the Illuminati
We need to start a massive fan petition to bring back star gate series it's there 20th anniversary and syfys 25th
That's how I see it
zeroraptor oh how wrong you were.
Hell Yeah!!!!!
Hey spacedock great work lover your vids and the effort you put in as an idea how likely would it be for you to do a video on a ship from the game Fractured Space i was thinking the Goliath would be a good one
Super video
Kree! Bow down before your God!
kree also means ''yooo hooo''
YOU HEARD ME! KREE!
Kree has to be the most versatile word ever.
I don't think so
Eat a Stinger.
Ha'taks fit excellently in the hexagon of a city ship, the ancients are travelers and their ships look like ship docks
you should do a video on the arc 170 and/or the naboo n1 straighter
Its hard to imagine travelling in an Greg Egan book where nano `polis ` (machines capable of holding a consciousness )machines are constructed in different universes via micro wormholes with different laws of physics then once complete `the consciousness` data gets piped through and you have to adjust your consciousness to the new physics ..and repeat . Diaspora describes it eloquently .
Can we have some Warhammer 40k Imperial Navy love?
excellent!
The cheops can attach in a linear fashion and create an interstellar Toblerone bar.
"Decimate" means "killing every tenth man", precisely one out of ten, not more, not less. Otherwise, it is not decimation.
How about octamate?
Or pentamate?
Doesn't decimation mean making 1/10th?
GabDubé that’s the historical use of the term. Now, it’s use is
verb
1.
kill, destroy, or remove a large percentage or part of.
@@michaelesposito2629 I truly hate how important words and phrases are cheapened by lazy users of the language. Nothing against you for reporting the listed definition, I am just generally disappointed in humans generally.
If I were to do a full list of ships for a story, what ship types would be suggested?
@Space dock have you ever considered combining your channel with a channel that does space engineers?
For the Tel'Tak's cloaking device, I thought the cloak was only added and used by the To'kra.
It lacked a coherent plot from maybe the second half of the 1st season.
it is implied that there re 800 Hataks in MW during season 8 of SG-1.
nehorlavazapalka
And they lack any sort of cruiser, an in between the Hatak/Alkesh, the Hatak was heavily armed but primarily a transport.
Very cool.
Having to build a pyramid before landing your ship seems super efficient.
considering that ship of its size would be otherwise IMPOSSIBLE to land except if you found some crazy rare completely flat and STABLE area to do so ... yeah the pyramid landing pads actually make sense
I always assumed that the Cheops class was a System Lord's luxury liner rather than a warship.
That's a great explanation for it!
What about the Death Glider that we saw in the pilot of Stagate SG1 that came with a Ring Transporter. Apophis used it to transport his new wife and himself to the Chulak Stargate. I doubt that is a standard configuration.
well done. Can you do a piece on the Stargate Wraith Hive ship and/or Starwars Clone Wars low altitude assault ship. thanks keep up the great work
