I also have the same Tracta universal joints on my 1945 Willys MB. One side stamped in are numbers 3 and 3 and on the other 3 and 4. Accidently got them all mixed up so tried them all out to find which arrangement had the least play. Tracta parts almost impossible to find here in France so figured this was the best way to go. The washer type thing you found is probably what should be a bushing. On the Willys there is a recess for a more substantial brass bushing which also functions as a grease seal. There is no room for any other type of seal. Check out the TM9-1803B which gives some more details and a diagram of this type of joint, including how to set end-play. Hope this helps.

I have the same type of set up on my 1944 jeep the marking were letters (A) and there is a fill plug halfway up that the grease is filled too.

On a LandCruiser knuckle, I just fill it up about 3/4 way full and pump some more grease in every year there after.

Forgot - also has fill plug half way up so joint is sitting half way into grease.
