CORRECTION SORTA: *When I say they use 76 varients of the Alstom Ciradis I meant they have 76 Ciradis Trams with several different varients.

Some are 70% low floor with pivoting end bogies and fixed centre bogie, while others are 95% low floor with only fixed bogies. The E class Melbourne tram, however, is also 95% low floor but with four pivoting bogies as is Gothenburg's M33. The upcoming G class will be 95% low floor again, with pivoting end bogies and fixed centre bogies.

      @@Myrtonethat was the original plan.
But we don't finish infrastructure projects here.
Dart and metro were to match up.
      Never happened
In fact the original dart plan was for two lines, one on the coast and one partially underground to west Dublin.
      Never finished
We have a planning system that lets evert bust body neighborhood nimby object it makes projects impossible to finish

If you ever want to use the LUAS, do NOT use it at rush hour, kinda an obvious thing with transport but still, you will packed like sardines!

Dublin as the Capital City of the Republic of Ireland does have good transportation. And the Luas trams are very nice as well. Great video 👍

As somebody who lives I can attest that it most definitely does not have good transportation. It’s usually quicker to walk anywhere between the canals than the tram, and cycling is always quicker
      Good video though!

Whilst I can't really speak on the efficacy of their planning. They have being doing some interesting stuff with redesigning the bus network in Dublin recently, which might help transit overall. Thanks for the comment!

The intention was for Metrolink to go further south and “takeover” the Green Line south of Charlemount to Sandyford (which is now a large urban area in its own right which a lot of EMEA HQs such as Microsoft). The Green Line is already at capacity.
That was scrapped though because people didn’t want the line closed.
I think now it is likely that Metrolink will extend south to Donnybrook/Ballsbridge - UCD - Sandyford.
I think we will likely see as well DART Underground revived and extended to Poolbeg which would provide a further heavy rail link East to West.
The lack of any construction in 6 years since the LUAS was extended is unacceptable though- a city with a hell of a lot of wealth and growing rapidly. A legacy of the financial crash.

Dublin is probably the only developed country with very very poor transport infra and it’s expensive and most of the areas you will find one bus in an hour.

    • @LeMerch

The new bus system is great. The lines now connect almost everywhere and they will become 24hrs.
Also, they are now building the MetroNorth which is the first underground metro from south city to the airport and onto Swords.. I think eventually an underground will be built off this.
