For a long time at Indiahikes, we have wanted to see trekkers trek independently. Our entire effort in documenting treks across the country has been with one vision -- that people must have enough information to trek on their own.
Quietly, under our feet, trekking/hiking is changing in our country. More and more trekkers are taking to the mountains. But they are trekking differently. They are trekking on their own without the support of any organization. They are trekking the Do-It-Yourself way.
This time, as we approach July 2021, we are launching a system that allows trekkers to trek, the DIY Style.
We will have three kits that help trekkers on the trail -- a navigation kit, a camping kit and a food kit. With these kits, trekkers can trek on their own, without the help of Indiahikes.
If you have any questions, drop in a comment below.

Indiahikes is truly the most admirable start-up in my opinion..
Bringing innovation and creating valuable experience in such an industry is already a difficult job.. Indiahikes still believes in its systems and improves every year! Thoda is inspirational entrepreneurship!

I'm so proud of Indiahikes, bringing that old school self-exploration during trekking, setting up camps and kitchens...that raw experience that's what I saw my parents doing back in the 90s!! I expect that you will slowly open up more such DIY options for other routes too. Best Wishes. I'm very much interested to opt for it soon

Yesss...!!! This is what I've been doing in Maharashtra for the past 8 years. Not experienced this in Himalayas so far as the terrain is unknown, so thought of not taking chances over there. But soon I wish to try it in the Himalayas as well..!! It is always good to trek the DIY way 🥳

If you never trekked in the Himalayas before, maybe start first with an organized trek through agency like IndiaHikes. Once you feel familiar with the terrains, it's more adventurous and satisfying to do it yourself.

My first trek in himalayas is DIY (KEDARKANTHA)...
It's easy to do by own.. Only the main tough thing is carrying our own equipments in higher altitudes and some prefer food also tough... But I managed with dry fruits biscuits and ate maggie in some small shops in Juda ka talab and base camp ....pitched our own tent but before we should clean the surface..... Otherwise their is nothing tough in the trek...if you go by group of 4 to 6 members

Back in 90s, all treks were DIY. But we didn't know that term. It was the only way a trek could be arranged.

IndiaHikes only wants people to trek and explore. Which other company will promote DIY and turn away their own customers. It is not running after profits. More power to you guys. Love the fact that my brother is Trek Leader with IH❤️

Great. You're awesome. Forget aboout the money, i wasn't so interested in indiahikes because it doesn't give the feel of trek. I do it with my friends(No Guide and No Porter) to feel the adventure. Your DIY support is awesome.
I wish your support doesn’t make the trek a cakewalk and i wish that your DIY Kit should allow the people to complete the trek faster if they wanted to(may be by providing multiple options for camping). Definately gonna try soon :)

So you set up a business to commercialise trekking with massive groups, made a load of money and ruined it for genuine trekkers that don't want to meet massive groups of people on trails and now you want it to go back to the way it was before you commercialised it? I really hope you are successful in doing that, it would help if you lowered the size of your trekking groups too and stop bringing people that wouldn't make it around their local park with a backpack, couldn't care less about nature and are only there to boost their ego's. "DIY" trekking is just actual trekking and the numbers of people looking to do it are tiny because trekking is challenging, you are supposed to start small and build your skills and experience up over time.
