"L will die... this easily? You can hear genuine disappointment in Light's voice when he says this. He despises L, but the mind games he plays with him are so entertaining to him, even if he's gambling with his own life. For this to leave such a bitter taste in his mouth is so interesting and says a lot about him.
Yeah. It's hard to remember amongst all the god complex and sociopathic tendencies that Light initially jumped down the Death Note rabbit hole out of sheer boredom.
Light sounded so disappointed when he realized L was going to die that quick. He hates L but is having fun. He wants to play his little game to the bitter end.
You are totally incorrect, he wants to kill his enemies as soon as possible, but he couldn't kill L because the task force would suspect him, as L never showed himself except him, so he is thinking about how to kill him perfectly with no witnesses
@@luk6997 Did you guys miss the entire second half of this show where (SPOILERS) he actively misses L, misses the chase of L trying to catch him and him trying to catch L… I mean personally I think both sides of this argument are valid, he views L as an obstacle yes but L is also the only person who has ever stood on equal grounds as Light in terms of intellect. They ARE friends, in a messed up sort of way, because they are so alike and have never had a companion that knows them this intimately before. Light literally said he was bored until he got the Death Note, if anything L is the ultimate source of entertainment and intellectual exercise to him. There is a sense of accomplishment in this victory, but there is also a sense of disappointment. They coexist.
"This is the first time in my life, that I've been provoked to hit a woman." Will never not laugh at that- whoever was writing this gets comedy, whether intentional or not lmao
So for some context. In the japanese misa calls light by his given name "light" which is used primarily between people that are close (relatives, spouses). Since they just met, he is offput by that. This was how the English version adapted a cultural thing.
Light has been shown to have hints of complete manipulative narcissism before (he's been planning to kill the entire task force and hasn't even been bothered by the fact his father is on it), but this point really starts showing it clearly.
Watching you two theorising and thinking ahead trying to guess Light and L’s next move is SO fun, especially as someone who is watching this show for the first time with you guys
"L will Die... That's all it took?" I always thought that was interesting, Light feels its too easy, boring, and maybe a part of him thought in that moment that he wouldn't want that to happen. L is competition, he's having fun with their little chess match, someone to challenge him, in a way if L died right then and there Light would probably be bored and miss L a little.
The Death Note has so many rules because i think the author tries to close all possibilities of loopholes and makes the show interesting. Just like the rule that was shown in 11:42, you can't make your victim cause someone else's death. Otherwise, people will just say Kira should just simply have someone kill L and all the police without knowing their real names (which is lame from a story standpoint). That's why he blackmailed Ray Penbar to name his colleagues in the task force on the Death Note while he still have his "sense" of his own, and not by the influence of actions that can be written on the Death Note.

For the first time they have someone who they see as equal, someone who can also make their life interesting as both of them in their own way felt as side viewers of humans daily life
L has never considered Light as a friend, relax, guys. The author of the Death Note manga confirmed this. L was against Light and didn't even think about getting close to him. L lied to him that you might not be sad

To keep it 100% real, he was right when he said her fascination is with Kira. Or rather, the person she _thinks_ Kira is. To make a long story short, I don't think anyone is confusing Misa for being completely right in the head.
Body cameras were invented in 2005 Death Note takes place in 2006 Light could of secretly worn a hidden body camera or any camera in general and then shown the footage to Misa and then Misa puts the exact time and date of L's death then while Light was there with L he would've died with no suspicion of Light being Kira
I know this video came out while ago, and for all I know you may already know this by now, but L was lying when he said he sees Light as a friend, it was explained better in thr manga
I remember watching this show with friends and I distinctly remember talking about how we would "get away with it" were we in Light's shoes. A couple of the ideas we came up with were, 1)At the time of meeting in regards to that "last message" to the police, we agreed it would've been better to "accidentally" let it slip that Kira or Light, was actually a woman. Nothing to outwardly distinctive aside from in that message, casually utilize feminine pronouns when talking about Kira. Referring to Kira as "she" or "her" but use it in a way that makes it seem like Misa made a critical misstep in revealing such a crucial piece of information. As we've seen and heard, L and the task force consistently refer to Kira as a male calling them "he, his" etc. What better way to throw off the investigation than to pretend to be stupid by accidentally referring to Kira as a "she." 2) Also this is in reference to the final tape Misa sends to Sakura TV. I think it would've been better to admit the fact that they had made contact already. Seeing as in the other tape, Misa had already said that she had "found" Kira. But then she says she will stop "searching" for Kira. If I'm an investigator on the case, the thought process in MY mind would've been to ask "wait, didn't the second Kira just say they had FOUND the original? Why would the second one say they would stop SEARCHING if they had already found them?" This is how I would have come to the same conclusion that the message that was just made was a cover up to hide the fact that they had made contact and are now working together. Were I Kira, it would be smarter to simply admit it outright that they had met, but instead of letting the investigators come to the conclusion that they're working together now, maybe the message could've contained lines that denoted or displayed some sort of displeasure at meeting the original. Perhaps something in the message along the lines of "While I may have met Kira, I have to say I find myself disappointed in her. (notice what I said here) She's not what I had envisioned when I sought to work with her in her goal of creating a new world. However out of respect for her wishes and her ideals, I still intend to aid her in her fight against injustice" something like that. 3)Also, Misa's makeup skill could be extremely dangerous in her ability to disguise her appearance and make her look like a whole new person altogether. So using that skill, she could somehow (probably under Light's directions) create another fake mistake by letting her alternate appearance get caught on camera doing something outwardly suspicious. (This one I had difficulties justifying because of the CCTV cameras are rather expansive and most investigators would come to the idea of tracing this fake where she goes. But my friend said that when she is tracked, all she would have to do is duck into a place where CCTV cameras aren't present, alter her appearance to another form, and sneak out with a large group of people. I thought the idea was clever, but I also thought it had some holes in the plan, but I decided to include this so I could hear what everyone else though about his idea.)
basically he's straight up a misogynist. notice how almost all of the female characters in death note have motivations that revolve around men they love and never really seem to think for themselves, except for kind of naomi who was too cool so she was killed. there is a moment in the manga Bakuman where one lady tries to give the main character advice on how to write women and the guy essentially tells her to piss off and it's not meant to be looked at as a glaring character flaw the main character has to overcome. for more elaboration, check out the Mother's Basement video about Platinum End where he goes into more depth regarding that topic
The fact Misa would go low to kill any girl that’s with Light is messed up. They didn’t do anything wrong and what if the girl he’s with IS LITERALLY JUST A FRIEND, ARE YOU SERIOUSLY GOING TO KILL HER? Man Misa is that low
...Context matters. Misa was being reckless with her and Light's life, despite repeated staunch urgent warnings that she supposedly understood. Then she just nonchalantly ignores all that, putting his life in danger when he's trying not to get thrown in prison.
So L is actually lying when he says he considers Light a friend. L sets a trap for Light by saying what he would do as Kira, Light falls for the trap, and L covers up his suspicion by saying something Light would never consider to be a ploy. In reality, L thinks very poorly of Light and believes him to be Kira. Perhaps there is some part of L that sees a part of himself in Light, but that only baffles him and makes him hate Light that much more. Like, he’s probably thinking “all those smarts and he choses to be a professional criminal.”
I always interpreted that when light askes Rem to kill L it was light basically giving up of the mental battle because up to that point He was losing hard!! quite literally everything Light did to try and beat L or get the upper hand failed with L pretty much being able to see through it with next to no effort. L pretty much new that Light was Kira as soon as he saw him from the start. .He even started mocking him by calling Light his friend(sorry shippers. that was a lie which was confirmed so no need to debate on that). So Lights reaction at the end I always saw as him just surprised that it would be that easy to kill L and probably surprised that all his work can be offshooted from Rem just wanting to kill L, not exactly disappointment
Funny enough, I think there is an argument that L is a sociopath. He isn't shown being particularly close to anyone. Maybe Watari, but he comes off more as an assistant. L has already shown a willingness to kill others, even if it was a death row inmate who was scheduled to die at that time, and he's not shown being really emotional. He's had his outburst here and there, but by and large he's very logical and results driven. It's probably not a perfect idea, but it is worth thinking about.
We say how similar Light and L are, their biggest similarity is they are both criminals. L follows anybody, wiretaps, and much much more...spoilers. L is the second criminal of this show.
Light didn't t kill any petty criminal before L interfere and make this all a competition. Light wasn't a bad guy, his intentions was to protect innocent lives. Rather challenging a intuitive guy who possess some magical powers it's better to become his friend and use his powers for world's benefit. And let's suppose Light Yagami killed petty criminal before L interfere but at the same time Light saves countless innocent lives from terrorists and murders.
I'm really sorry for that VA, he surely is great in his job, but... THAT ENGLISH L PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH! @@odlfmariner470 Nah, I'm just German. We have Julien Haggege as L, so it's an unfair comparison in some way... But still... English L is just... Nah. 😂
In the end Light being disappointed at prospect of L dying so easily, at first I thought maybe he started caring for L, but now I think it's like this win is not satisfying to him. it's like a cheat code, just too easy. He want to feel that he earned the victory not like this.
Also L was manipulating Light with that friend thing, as the writer confirmed in interview These two are too arrogant to accept feelings or attachment towards any other person

If they could both would`ve played the cat and mouse game for eternity knowing fully the answer just not saying it so they can stay as friends and have fun because although their game puts other people in danger for them the game matters only because it`s a game. For the first time they have someone who they see as equal, someone who can also make their life interesting as both of them in their own way felt as side viewers of humans daily life
You know Light giving that hate smash.
L has never considered Light as a friend, relax, guys. The author of the Death Note manga confirmed this. L was against Light and didn't even think about getting close to him. L lied to him that you might not be sad
Not actually L took an interest in Light
@@nobody-ye5rk he definitely took an interest in light but it wasn’t as a friend 🗿 more like a worthy opponent
Ok prove it
@@nobody-ye5rk he took an interest in him as a lover
@@kathhqq7 Another smart guy, what the hell is gay? The foot washing scene was only in the anime, not the manga, which is not canon. It was a reference to a biblical scene, you are crazy? The anime director himself wrote that these are precisely biblical scenes and references, if you are not too lazy you will find them on Wikipedia
Misa has a creepy obsession with light. I feel bad for her
To keep it 100% real, he was right when he said her fascination is with Kira. Or rather, the person she _thinks_ Kira is. To make a long story short, I don't think anyone is confusing Misa for being completely right in the head.
This the most toxic relationship in anime history 😂
Enjoyed more than the average romance in anime
Body cameras were invented in 2005 Death Note takes place in 2006 Light could of secretly worn a hidden body camera or any camera in general and then shown the footage to Misa and then Misa puts the exact time and date of L's death then while Light was there with L he would've died with no suspicion of Light being Kira
Misa needs a cringe counter.
Nah misa is A W
Nah, sure she can be annoying at times but that's sort of the whole point
Me if I get a Gothy Girlfriend at school
I know this video came out while ago, and for all I know you may already know this by now, but L was lying when he said he sees Light as a friend, it was explained better in thr manga
L react - great editing, been watching a few of your videos and I like your analysis and commentary. Keep it up!
I remember watching this show with friends and I distinctly remember talking about how we would "get away with it" were we in Light's shoes. A couple of the ideas we came up with were,
1)At the time of meeting in regards to that "last message" to the police, we agreed it would've been better to "accidentally" let it slip that Kira or Light, was actually a woman. What better way to throw off the investigation than to pretend to be stupid by accidentally referring to Kira as a "she."
2) Also this is in reference to the final tape Misa sends to Sakura TV.

Code Geass and Chainsaw Man are goated shows, highly recomended
chainsaw man deffo is but like prolly bit violent for their channel lol
@@edwardprice6601 yea but so is AOT, and i think they already watched it
can someone name music at the beginning? tnx
When you learn about Tsugumi Ohba's (Death Note creator) uh... "opinions" on women, Misa's characterization makes a lot more sense
Tell me more ..
I don't like where this is going but yeah tell me more lol
So he likes GothLoli?
Waifu style I guess.
basically he's straight up a misogynist. notice how almost all of the female characters in death note have motivations that revolve around men they love and never really seem to think for themselves, except for kind of naomi who was too cool so she was killed. there is a moment in the manga Bakuman where one lady tries to give the main character advice on how to write women and the guy essentially tells her to piss off and it's not meant to be looked at as a glaring character flaw the main character has to overcome. for more elaboration, check out the Mother's Basement video about Platinum End where he goes into more depth regarding that topic
12:34 save!!
The fact Misa would go low to kill any girl that’s with Light is messed up. They didn’t do anything wrong and what if the girl he’s with IS LITERALLY JUST A FRIEND, ARE YOU SERIOUSLY GOING TO KILL HER? Man Misa is that low
They are badasss l feel sad for people they killed
"This is the first time in my life, that I've been provoked to hit a woman."
Every "nice guy" ever basically.
I'm a woman, I felt that with Cersei in got 🤣
...Context matters.
Misa was being reckless with her and Light's life, despite repeated staunch urgent warnings that she supposedly understood. Then she just nonchalantly ignores all that, putting his life in danger when he's trying not to get thrown in prison.
@jakobnunez4964 I'm a nice guy but I would never say that
@@Un1234lTrying not to get thrown in prison for mass murder
this woman is full of snidery and venom
So L is actually lying when he says he considers Light a friend. L sets a trap for Light by saying what he would do as Kira, Light falls for the trap, and L covers up his suspicion by saying something Light would never consider to be a ploy. In reality, L thinks very poorly of Light and believes him to be Kira. Perhaps there is some part of L that sees a part of himself in Light, but that only baffles him and makes him hate Light that much more. Like, he’s probably thinking “all those smarts and he choses to be a professional criminal.”
You guys should avoid the next preview for the episode
Ok I can’t get over it she looks like Candace from TVD 😮
CODE GEASS!!!!
The two Shinigamis are the real Nights who garded Misa with their lives, while she's totally fallen for Light, a psychopath.
Please continue the dragon prince
I am NGL after watching most of these again L be legit making bull shit assumption just for plot reasons. Dude said come on didn’t u sense it 🤣
You should watch Cyber Punk Edge Runners or Invincible, they are short can can be like a side series
Code Geass.
Light & L are pure-hearted, they will always stick to their mission no matter what
You should definetly watch my hero academia
Light 100% has been red pilled 😂

That version ruins one of my favorite Anime characters in like every possible way! 😖
Light is at least somewhat fitting, still not a fan, tho.
But L..? Hard to say, but he really does make it hard for me to continue watching. 😅
To put at least one positive thing here... I love that English Rem, amazing job! So far, she's the best in the whole show... BY FAR! 😂

Go watch the show then?
In the end Light being disappointed at prospect of L dying so easily, at first I thought maybe he started caring for L, but now I think it's like this win is not satisfying to him. it's like a cheat code, just too easy.
He want to feel that he earned the victory not like this.
i mean if you want equality, it shouldnt offend, right?
Also L was manipulating Light with that friend thing, as the writer confirmed in interview
These two are too arrogant to accept feelings or attachment towards any other person
