Regardless of L's true motives, Aizawa being upset at being played and L's methods in general is completely understandable. He was by far the most vocal about L not wanting to release Light and Misa despite Kira killing again and even called him out that he did it because he hates losing. He never really agreed with his methods, but he pushed through because that is what the case demanded. But believing L still didn't trust you this far into the investigation would definitely be the last straw for someone who was already iffy about you.

I think the idea that the Death Note corrupted Light is the most misguided interpretation spread among the community. Power doesn't change people, it amplifies them. Light IS Kira, just like how Walter White IS Heisenburg. We see this, we are literally told this by the author when we hear good Light begin to realise that his ideas are inherently the same as Kira's, and he slowly begins to realise he has the potential to BE Kira, if given the power. This is in episode 21 of Death Note at around 9:30 minutes into the episode, we hear Light's inner thoughts as he ponders about how eerily similar Kira's actions where to Light's, and how they share the same ideals. I think its indeniable that Light and Kira are one and the same, no corruption necessary, only exposure.
I liked the scene where Aizawa quits because it gives us a look into Ls true nature, hes extremely distrusting and contsantly testing people. I do kind of like the moment when Light calls out L on him wanting Light to be Kira. Yes, he is indeed Kira, but if this was a different show and he wasn't, L would just be obsessed with trying to prove he was right instead of trying to find the actual Kira. And of course, the Light that doesn't know he is Kira would point that out.
Yes I agree. This was Ls bias, granted its not fair because there is supernatural elements at play, but if L was being completely objective, he would have moved onto other angles, so it shows us his ego, which is fine, because he is human and flaws in characters make them more interesting.
But this isn't a different show where Light isn't Kira because in that different show there wouldn't be so much evidence for L that he is Kira. L's deductive abilities are far beyond yours and mine. He can figure out Kira's identity better than we can. Why should he be shunned for knowing and being convinced of the thing we all know is true? That's a bit F*ed up. A bit gaslighty even.
@@hirvale because L is using his deductive abilities that he’s trusted in the past on a case where supernatural powers exist. He’s not even 100% sure how Kira is using his powers, he doesn’t even know what a Death Note is. And yet he’s certain it’s Light only because of some coincidences and a “feeling”.
@@MrBonzeMedal They're not coincidences, they're a clear pattern and whether there's some supernatural stuff involved doesn't change the deductive reasoning that he must do, which is work off the patterns you can see and deduce the rules of the supernatural from there. Anyways, none of that changes the fact that we know he's right, and yet are judging him for thinking he's right! For all we know L might have his own supernatural ability to reduce one's guilt! It would be a different story if Light wasn't guilty, in which case we could tell that L is wrong in pursuing him. But you can't say his method is wrong when it's clearly working!
@@hirvale nobody is judging L for obsessing that Light is Kira. It’s why the majority of fans love L. But it’s because WE know he’s Kira, we have a bias. And while I’ll give credit to the writing for making a lot of L’s educated guesses on the Death Note’s abilities actually well thought out, some of them are correct jumps to conclusions that the writers forced because it moves the plot forward. The Task Force are skeptical because the evidence is conflicting. There’s no evidence that Light is a murderer. Everytime they try to come to that conclusion there’s reasonable doubt that is extremely plausible. L obsesses over it both because there is evidence thus Light is Kira, but also because he’s biased. And he aknwoledges it. He’s saying stuff like “I want Light to be Kira”. It makes the rest of the characters concerned that it’s skewing his judgment. L is a great detective because he’s almost “inhuman” at making correct guesses, but it’s why many also have their doubts. Condemning someone of a crime because of a “hunch” isn’t realistic
The difference between Light and Misa in terms of behavior change was their goals and worldview. Light started ki-lling because he believed the world was full of evil and injustice. Misa started kil-ling to pay tribute to Kira (in gratitude for saving her life) and then to please him. Misa was impulsive and emotional from the start. And that hasn't changed after gaining power. From the beginning, Light was logical, calculating and reserved. After gaining power, he realized that with his help, he could make the world a better place. But to do so, he must seize every opportunity and remove every obstacle. People k-ill other people every day, believing that it will somehow help "someone". For example, the nation in the name of which they ki-ll. And when they come back from the war, they seem to be different. But if one were to become a soldier out of sheer fascination with the ability to ki-ll, there would probably be no change in his behavior.
How I see it is that Light started killing because he was bored as well as curious of the death note, which he says so himself. The killing for justice and cleaning up bad people part was his initial rationalisation and justification for killing his to initial victims. He was horrified at what he had done and knew deep down to himself that it was wrong but his big brain and reluctance to accept he had done something wrong made him find a rationalisation and justification for why he wasn't so wrong for doing what he just had then after all. Empowered by that justification as well as excited by his powers and excited to use and discover more about it, he kept killing and killing, backed by those justifications, which eventually spiralled into a full blown god complex.
I think that Kira has always been a part of Light, the Death Note just brought it out. I've always had this theory that if Light didn't get the Death Note and became an investigator, over time with him gaining more power in the judicinal system his Kira side would come out (just not as over the top as Death Note Kira)
I'm listening to this while doing a Chloe Ting workout and had to click on a different tab to load up the next video. Imagine my surprise when I come back, and the video is full of cute doggos
Fun fact L isn't wrong; chess masters can burn as many calories as pro athletes with just their brains A super detective like L could certainly burn away all the calories from his sweet tooth in fact he would need that amount of energy to maintain that level of thinking
L would probably win a fight. I don't think Light has training, but L is trained in capoeira. Which isn't a spoiler since it never says it in the anime here. He wouldn't be knocked off balance when trying to kick either because of how the fighting style works. Love the reactions as always.
I only know noticed it but when L says that Kira power can pass from one person to another and that person would likely lose their memories he instantly figured out what was happening if I was L and as smart as him I would I know the reverse would could also happen meaning L knew that eventually the power would return to light and he would be Kira meaning L knew his clock was ticking for him even all the way back here which is why he kept such a close eye on light I feel like L didn’t care so much about living but instead putting Kira to justice he could have easily just gave up and had both light and misa executed and saved himself since he done other illegal things but was made clear that wasn’t the kind of person he was that he still had some type of consicous a man who knew he was going to die if he continues to wander the path but if he stopped he wouldn’t be who he is he wouldn’t be justice he died against light but could have tooken the easy way out and just gave up and then wouldn’t have died I guess In the end L knew his successors would continue his work and put Kira to justice I guess L just wanted to go down swinging trying to do all he could then giving up and admitting he was more afraid of death then being a coward where as light started begging and pleading with the heavens to save him L accepted it because he knew justice would always win and just because he would die justice wouldn’t die with him Honestly it makes me cry so much I would have completely abounded the mission or just kill light and misa I don’t understand why L decided to do this but I respect him for it and am disappointed in myself for wanting to take the easy way out
I dunno if you guys have seen it already but if you like psychological stuff I recommend the anime called “Monster” It’s my fave anime of all time. It will do a huge number on your brain and it’s very much in your crime thriller category.
Working with criminals who have not payed for their crimes is quite a bit immoral, but since it’s for a greater goal of making the world a better place without Kira, it seems worth to the investigators.
Legs are stronger but also there was a moment that made it an even fight was how Light was using the cuffs in his attack, he was swinging L around with it, at one point he pulled L closer to punch him even harder, I think if the cuffs were gone Light would have won, It was only so even because L was using both feet.
when it comes to Light and Misa, there is one more difference. Misa, after obtaining the Death Note, was already living in the world where Kira exists. She admired him and probably found out that she was given the same power as him, so she wanted to use it. Would Misa start killing people on her own if she got the Death Note first? Light got a Death Note and did not follow any authority, he decided to become a god himself and began to kill. No one motivated him like Misa. Misa could also justify her actions by worshiping and imitating Kira, and Light justified himself by creating a new world and being a god in it. That's why I think Light had Kira in him before, and Misa became Kira because of the Death Note's influence.
This is such a good arc. This Light was pretty much possessed by Kira. The person he became when he got the death note was a COMPLETELY different side of him. Hence why without it he’s so different.

I never caught on to the line "they would have to be a God".. and since Light is the one that found Yotsuba, that pretty much seals it that light is some sort of Demi-God at this point.
You ask who even is light, light is the kind of person and personality he would've been if he had never had has his morals tested by the death note. True challenges like this shape you, especially at a young age like Light. A gentle, helpful young man; through achieving ultimate power, was emboldened in his beliefs of what he viewed as justice. Having had those memories erased, he's exactly who he would have been without the death note.
I just realized that if light and Misa both die they both go to purgatory because both used a death note. Which means that light wont be able to get away from her in the afterlife once they both die lol
I thought the whole "afterlife" thing was confirmed in the DN universe to basically bullshit, and all people who die basically go to "the Nothingness" or something...

Nah it was a test, otherwise why bother, just tell him about the trust fund. L does care about people, but ultimately he values solving cases and is constantly testing people for their utility in helping him with his case. This is his true nature, and if you dont understand this then you do not understand L as a character.
It is a test, i love L but he really did aizawa dirty here of course he will choose his family over anyone. Something L dont have any knowledge about since he never had a family
I know you're weeks ahead already, but I wanted to touch on the final question of the discussion. You've seen a lot further into the show, and by now you can probably tell the true nature of Light Yagami isn't very different from that of Eren Yeager. Both characters are given the power to change the world how they see fit, and while one falls victim to that power, Light is completely empowered to become the man he TRULY sees himself as. I know he's a smart kid with a really good facade. However, when you look at who he was before the Death Note (the first 5 minutes or so of episode 1) you start to realize he was always disinterested in living a normal life. Despite his grades and accolades, he was "Bored". I believe he started off thinking this was a game. Thinking "Cool. Playing God for a while sounds like fun." Once the challenge from L was issued, I think THAT'S where he developed the mindset that he was right and everyone else was wrong... but I still believe he didn't really know what he was doing. Sadly, I don't believe Light ever truly looked at himself as a God. I think he was incapable of admitting that he was evil; that he was wrong. I think, deep down, this was always a game to him that he enjoyed trying not to LOSE more than he ever enjoyed for It's original purpose: Being a God of Justice. As you watch more, let my words marinate in your minds. I loved Death Note and Light Yagami once... I hope you continue to enjoy until the very end ❤
1. All Death Notes look similar. How do the Shinigami know that their Death Note is theirs besides handwriting and usage? 2. I think Light when not bored and doing something that interests him is an upbeat person. High School was boring to Light because he was more book smart than his class mates. Light did not see his high school classmates as challengers to his intelligence. He sees them as less than him. But Light is also a polite person who would not physically out loud in front of certain people lord his intellect over certain people. Light is trying to be a good person but his dark side sometimes takes over and he says and does things he might regret latter. Light probably always was an impulsive, happy, egotistical, pompous jerk before getting the Death Note. But as the audience we mainly see Kira Light, and not non Kira Light so it is hard to know how Light was pre Death Note. Light reminds me of Lelouch (Code Geass) and Kudo Shinichi (Detective Conan). They are all seen as intelligent, hard working academics, with lots of potential. But they are also flawed and upsetting for people who do not understand them on their wave lengths. They all fight for their ideas of justice. But only two of them have magic powers. Kudo has to rely on his human powers to solve cases. While Light and Lelouch can rely on their magic control powers.
It's the workers' right, but it's also their responsibility. They kind of took on the responsibility of solving the case and catching Kira, so if they leave, they will also feel guilty for the lives of millions of people and for what is happening. L is right, they are on dangerous jobs and are always taking risks. L warned them and the rest of them shouldn't bother L. L is in charge of this whole case and he should be worried about the case and finding Kira and not the workers .Finding Kira is much more complicated and risky than the work of all the investigators.
I still can't wrap my brain around the reasons for him crying. I had 0 expectations of him dying so I was just confused. It's such a complicated emotional moment that I just don't get it lol
@@skeletonflower4636 Small correction, isekai just means "another world" as in someone is sent to another world, usually. It's not necessarily a parallel world, and Re:Zero isn't even a parallel world in the first place.
I particularly dislike this period of the anime because, it exemplifies a typical artist’s sentiment against business elites. And it’s so unintelligibly biased. The author makes a top exec of a top pharma own the notebook, but portrays him(and his peers) as a bunch of greedy brainless. Anyone with slight life experience knows that’s the opposite. In fact, the likes of Light Yagami would probably end up in one of those positions had he been a real life person

Lol! Kenny and Montana panicking at the end thinking Aizawa was having a heart attack was too funny. 😂😂😂
I'm sorry, but the reaction to Aizawa crying was priceless! I started laughing the moment I saw the look of pure terror.
This is my favorite episode to rewatch this dynamic all the way to ep 26 was so fun to watch
Matsuda's face at 8:07 always cracks me up
Winry is absolutely *feeling* this episode byt he looks of the thumbnail haha!
"Con" in Com-man stands for "Confidence" man.
Most use it to imply criminal but it doesn't mean they have to be criminals.
Anybody else notice that L tied the cherry stems together? Man out here with the tongue techniques
Yeah, he seems like hes always at least been a manipulator.
I'm listening to this while doing a Chloe Ting workout and had to click on a different tab to load up the next video. Imagine my surprise when I come back, and the video is full of cute doggos
26:02 L would stomp Light, both figuratively _and_ literally.
Literally...
i think L purposely tanked his punch so its an eye for an eye when he kicked him again...
Whatever you say, champ lol
@@DefenestrateYourself tutorial mob ragebait is crazy work
L might make the big plays but everyone else is important, do not underestimate them. It could prove fatal
Thieves and con men are very much the lesser two evils of crime. Unlike violent and aggressive crimes, the victims just lose money.
5:50 I disagree with the counter here. Light always was optimist. Ryuk said it few episodes back and Light agreed to that.
THE PERFECT FREEZE FRAME ON THE PUNCH THOUGH.
Fun fact L isn't wrong; chess masters can burn as many calories as pro athletes with just their brains
A super detective like L could certainly burn away all the calories from his sweet tooth in fact he would need that amount of energy to maintain that level of thinking
6:06 my favourite part when stop the video. Jajajaja
sorry I'm just losing it at Winry's face being chopped in half when you split the camera XD
These episodes are probably my favorite of the series
L would probably win a fight. I don't think Light has training, but L is trained in capoeira. Which isn't a spoiler since it never says it in the anime here. He wouldn't be knocked off balance when trying to kick either because of how the fighting style works. Love the reactions as always.
I only know noticed it but when L says that Kira power can pass from one person to another and that person would likely lose their memories he instantly figured out what was happening if I was L and as smart as him I would I know the reverse would could also happen meaning L knew that eventually the power would return to light and he would be Kira meaning L knew his clock was ticking for him even all the way back here which is why he kept such a close eye on light I feel like L didn’t care so much about living but instead putting Kira to justice he could have easily just gave up and had both light and misa executed and saved himself since he done other illegal things but was made clear that wasn’t the kind of person he was that he still had some type of consicous a man who knew he was going to die if he continues to wander the path but if he stopped he wouldn’t be who he is he wouldn’t be justice he died against light but could have tooken the easy way out and just gave up and then wouldn’t have died
I guess In the end L knew his successors would continue his work and put Kira to justice I guess L just wanted to go down swinging trying to do all he could then giving up and admitting he was more afraid of death then being a coward where as light started begging and pleading with the heavens to save him L accepted it because he knew justice would always win and just because he would die justice wouldn’t die with him
Honestly it makes me cry so much I would have completely abounded the mission or just kill light and misa I don’t understand why L decided to do this but I respect him for it and am disappointed in myself for wanting to take the easy way out
I dunno if you guys have seen it already but if you like psychological stuff I recommend the anime called “Monster”
It’s my fave anime of all time. It will do a huge number on your brain and it’s very much in your crime thriller category.
I love your guys' videos!
L has money because he's a top class freelance detective that can charge a lot of money for his services and he's never failed to solve a case.
when it comes to Light and Misa, there is one more difference.
L knows capoiera. Light's just a guy with a more balanced diet
Batman! No shoes! No service! Is totally my restaurant’s name. Lol.
Since you guys are on Demon Slayer now, I feel the need to ask:
Are you aware of the Taisho Era Secrets at the end of each episode?
21:31 pfft now he’s got your gf smirking 😂😂
The point of telling everyone you X Y or Z is misdirection. Mind tricks.
L can afford a skyscraper but cant pay them wage?
This is such a good arc. This Light was pretty much possessed by Kira. The person he became when he got the death note was a COMPLETELY different side of him. Hence why without it he’s so different.

I never caught on to the line "they would have to be a God".. and since Light is the one that found Yotsuba, that pretty much seals it that light is some sort of Demi-God at this point.
Yes your right.
Even i missed that line while watching it for the first time..l
Well actually, it was L who came up with the plan to catch Higuchi 🤓

@@Ali_-_1_-_2_-_1_-_2 Yeah, I have no idea what point I was trying to make. Namikawa was talking about someone catching on to Yotsuba's killings.
22:16 to be privileged to not know what Khan Academy is 😭😭😭
I just realized that if light and Misa both die they both go to purgatory because both used a death note. Which means that light wont be able to get away from her in the afterlife once they both die lol

Misa Win from the start lmao

I thought the whole "afterlife" thing was confirmed in the DN universe to basically bullshit, and all people who die basically go to "the Nothingness" or something...

It was not a test
He did it because he cared about him
It hurts that it was the only way he could have saved aizawa + got called i hate u by him
Sad
I hope you continue to enjoy until the very end ❤
bruh i gotta wait 2 weeks for the best part?

@@freakcan ep 24
Bruh that pause when light punched L lol
It's the workers' right, but it's also their responsibility. They kind of took on the responsibility of solving the case and catching Kira, so if they leave, they will also feel guilty for the lives of millions of people and for what is happening. L is right, they are on dangerous jobs and are always taking risks. L warned them and the rest of them shouldn't bother L. L is in charge of this whole case and he should be worried about the case and finding Kira and not the workers .Finding Kira is much more complicated and risky than the work of all the investigators.
Interesting

I particularly dislike this period of the anime because, it exemplifies a typical artist’s sentiment against business elites. And it’s so unintelligibly biased.
The author makes a top exec of a top pharma own the notebook, but portrays him(and his peers) as a bunch of greedy brainless. Anyone with slight life experience knows that’s the opposite. In fact, the likes of Light Yagami would probably end up in one of those positions had he been a real life person
