    WOW!!! That's the best sound demo of the 50th Superstar kit I've heard so far!! WOW!!!!

      Thanks! Glad you think so. Always a fine balance between enhancing what's already there to showcase the drums strengths, and not going over board with processing.
      Cheers!

    80s Tama just had the special sauce. Even their lower end kits just have a gritty but mellow vibe. My old Zola coat swingstars sound so good when actually tuned.

      Thanks mate!
      Appreciate it.
      Quality Tama drums with that vintage vibe. I’d say this kit is really for those looking for the tone and experience of the old superstars, of course with a modern twist. Kinda like Gretsch’s broadcaster/brooklyn sets.
      Bit surprised to see the lack of a rubber gasket/thing to protect the bass drum hoops. Metal on wood. And the tom mount do come with the traditional inconvenience of shortening the sustain when mounted. For better or for worse is for the player to decide I feel :)
      2 ply coated heads in this video, the sound was focused and quite short, but not lacking. Can’t imagine these shells won’t ring for as long as one could want with one ply heads.
      Cheers!

      @@antonjamesolsson Well, I love Gretsch and old Superstars! My first drum teacher had a Superstar set. No RUBBER! I’m very curious of the price now and am gonna look it up.
      I think the Toms sounded awesome! I would love to hear this kit with Ebony emperor “suede” heads on the toms. They would sound awesome.

      @@davidmultimedia2024 Silverstone is cheaper without die-cast hoops

    • @davidmultimedia2024
      @davidmultimedia2024 9 месяцев назад +2

      True, but even though it has a lower price and no die-cast hoops (which is not what EVERYBODY likes anyway).. it's still an amazing kit, especially once you replaced the heads. I owned the Silverstar for a while (and so did Anton). I'm pretty sure TAMA did consider the Silverstar good enough to replace the Superstar at the time. Die-Cast hoops are more expensive and makes the kit higher priced.. but it's not about ''quality''. The Silverstar had more of a ''vintage'' feel in a modern envelope. Having wraps instead of a more expensive finish also helped reducing the cost without affecting sound quality. @@femaledeer

    Sounds good, but not crazy about the tom and bass drum mounts.

    Tama fan here. This demo sounds like he's playing with Rods, even though from what I can tell, looks like regular sticks. Makes me think the audio was heavily processed. Or maybe this drummer is crazy good & has a secret technique 😛. Guess I'll wait for DCP to give a legit demo 😉. Pretty expensive for a birch set. Still, I like it !

    • @antonjamesolsson
      @antonjamesolsson  9 месяцев назад +3

      Hello Tama fan, or Dilan if that's your given name? No need to write about me in third person, as you can see I'm the publisher of this video, name is in the title. We might have different ideas about how rods sound...... that's okay!
      The sound is processed somewhere between my own skills as a mixer, my preferences as a drummer, a short turnaround time and working within the constrictions of a one man operation. All for better or for worse.
      I've stated this in the past and will once more. My videos are not intended to serve as a flat reference. They are in all simplicity an extension of my tastes in music, drums, audio processing, lighting & cinematography - where I want to make something that I like. That's what's "legit" to me.

    • @dilankarun9172

      @@antonjamesolsson I don't follow your channel, So I don't know what you've said in the past. My apologies. Anyway, Good to know they weren't meant to be a flat reference & had to be processed. Based on that, I'll pass on this particular TAMA set. Well played though. Good job 😉

  • @markusthedrummer8143

    The best thing about these drums is the mounting system. This retro system proves that suspension mounts and all the over hyped and over priced mounting systems drums companies invent are simply marketing techniques. Yes I love my 2021 star cast tom mounts and quick-release memory locks but imo drum sounded better in the 80's with shallow bass drums, aged wood, metal on wood tom mounts, plain old triple flanged hoops, and drums heads with less plastic. I'm leaning towards picking up the acrylic version but might get the birch and acrylic. I appreciate Tama so much, I believe they make the all around best hardware and most affordable high quality drums.
