I had my first 20lb carp from that lake in 1988, no cat or caravans back then. just a lovely lake that always seemed a lot quieter than the other lake on the complex, can't remember the margins being that shallow. Nice watch as usual.
A special place to catch your first 20lb carp, a venue that played a huge part in carp fishing history 💪 I expect it was very different back in 1988 . I saw several nice carp while filming this video 👌 Glad you liked the video Phil ☺️
Great to see a dedicated Catfish video for a change! I love fishing for these beasts! Nothing pulls quite like these kippers! Also nice to see you using proper Catfish gear to fish for them too! Nice one lads!
I'm not into cats myself but as soon as I see Phil doing the fishing I just have to watch... such a great all round angler...and they do really eat anything I once caught two upto 29lb when carp Fishing on sweetcorn soaked in cheesy garlic oil and they absolutely pulled my arm off...I imagine Phil had a few aches after that session 😂
Thank you ☺️ Yep, krill active is the perfect barbel bait. I like using the 12mm, caught loads of nice barbel one them 💪 Good luck with your fishing Phil
Hi Michael, We are all good thank you ☺️. You would love fishing for the catfish! I hope you're catching some nice tench from Reydon? I see some lovely crucians get caught there sometimes 👌 Tight lines Phil,
I've had a 50lb for my first and a 60lb few hours later. Just got back from walse after getting over 50 carp in 5 days. I just uploaded my first video of it for the channel. Hopefully, one day, I'll bump into one of you lot on the bank.
Hi Joe, The rods and reels that Phil used aren’t as expensive as you might think. Click the links to the products below, you might be surprised 😊 www.anglingdirect.co.uk/advanta-big-pit-fd-fishing-reel? www.anglingdirect.co.uk/wychwood-agitator-cr-c-catfish-rod?

Hi Rick, I was using the 1 meter Korda Dark matter leaders. If using rig tubing a meter length would be recommended to protect the fishes body and your mainline. If you are struggling to thread on a longer length of tubing check out this video for some tips ⬇️ ruclips.net/video/56lqkrK-vFM/видео.htmlsi=xoalU5ZOkQnswhF5 Regards Phil
@AnglingDirectTV wow, thanks for the quick response. I got a shimano tx-2 3lb test with 20lb mainline atm thinking I might be better off with 10ft rod. Its not a big lake but does have cats up to 35lb and lillypads, I don't really want to spend £s but want to get it right. I'm going to your MK branch later. I will check out the Korda dark matter now, but was looking ar the carp pro ready made rigs size 2 hooks. The daiwa black widow 10ft looks decent.
@@rickcowleymidfulnessfitnes3901 for Catfish up to 35lb carp rods would be fine. Either 12 or 10ft rods would also be fine. A nice tough 20lb line would cope with cats too, something around 0.40mm in diameter. Good luck, please lets us know how you get on 🤞
Well, letting you know how I got on. Caught a 15lb cat, but lost 4 heavier cats 30lb plus. I bought a 20lb korda flourocarbon line. A bit gutted, as you can imagine. They don't allow braid on site, and have reportedly 60lb cat in there. Do you have anything to give me a bit more confidence in the line? And rig come to that?

Thanks Gavin 😊
The very next session after filming this I managed an 80lb+ catfish, my arm ached after that one 🤣

Sounds like you've been busy 🎣💪 Well done on those big catfish.
This man clearly knows what he's doing. The gear he's using looks a bit out of my price range, which looks like high-end equipment rods and reels. 😮

What bait boat did you use?
Hi Chez,
Phil was using an Angling Technics Technicat boat. We will pop a link below ⬇️

What length of line tubing should i use to protect the fish? No one is talking about this.
