    Love trotting for Grayling, one of my favourite methods. Believe it or not, the River Caler through Halifax is full of them, I had 40 out in an afternoon a couple of weeks back before all the rain came down. Great film, shows what fun can be had when not sitting on a seat box with a pole all day!

      Sea Trout are not rare on the Lower Itchen Fishery. I've caught a few whilst both coarse fishing and fly fishing there in October

    A really enjoyable film - I mainly fly fish and my annual treat is a couple of days on the chalkstreams in September - I fish the upper reaches at Wherwell or I actually prefer the tributaries the Dever and the Dun being favourites - I have just purchased the reel you are using and looking forward to trying it out on the Derbyshire Derwent soon for grayling - you are right the fish with the smaller dorsal fin are the females - Thanks for sharing - Steve.

    Just found this video as I am planning to get some coarse fishing tackle together for the months when our Club trout lake is out of sorts. Would like to extend that to try for grayling later in the year. It seems that the floats you use are no longer available so what would you recommend to be able to fish the way you did. Will be looking at other videos in the series for more tips.

      Hello Colin,
      Good luck when you try for Grayling. I'll pop a couple of links to floats suitable for trotting for Grayling. Float size will depend on the strength and depth over the river you fish.

    Hi Phil, do we need a permit/lisence to fish at this chalk stream? Thank you.

    • @AnglingDirectTV
      @AnglingDirectTV  Год назад +1

      Hi Gojali, both the venues I fished in this video can be fished buy purchasing day tickets.
      The tickets need to be booked in advance, and coarse fishing is only allowed in the Late Autumn/winter.

      I hope this helps

    Are there any graying in Norfolk Chalk Streams?

    • @philspinks4142
      @philspinks4142 2 года назад

      I've been fishing the Wensum and the connecting carrier streams for over 30 years and I've caught about 5 or 6 small grayling. But not seen a Norfolk grayling in probably 15 years. But you never know???

    What is the deal with norfolks rivers at the moment? is it to do with seals and otters?

    • @philspinks4142
      @philspinks4142 2 года назад

      I still regularly fish my local rivers such as the Wensum and Waveney. They have suffered terribly from Otter and cormorant predation, but it isn't all bad. The Wensum seems full of roach this year again and a few nice chub if you try hard enough. The Waveney has a fairly healthy stock of chub in some stretches, not so healthy in other areas.

    • @philspinks4142
      @philspinks4142 2 года назад +1

      I very nearly filmed Barbel fishing then the temperatures dropped fast and the river levels where low so a last minute plan to head grayling fishing was made. But Barbel fishing is definitely on the cards at some point.
