4:12 it’s also one of the only cases of a game on NSO having an emulator within an emulator along with Excitebike 64 and it’s conversion of the original Excitebike
The awkward sound conversion is because the NES and SNES sound chips work very differently. The NES produces waveforms directly, while the SNES uses a sample-based system, which requires significant compression to fit into the cart. So the only way to reproduce the NES sound is to record it and compress it to fit.
When I saw they didn't take the time to translate it when porting it over when there already was a fan translation thats been out is so depressing. I was looking forward to playing this on NSO but I may as well just play the fan translation version.
Honestly, I'm really impressed they even ported the NES game to the system virtually identically. I think this is the first time I ever heard of an NES game on SNES.
@@macksnotcool All-stars was a remake, not a direct port. While it’s identical in gameplay it’s completely remade graphically for the SNES system. So while it’s technically a game from the NES it’s not the original version of the game. As far as I’m aware the only direct NES to SNES port is wrecking crew.
@@shadowchasernql still more of a remake than a port. All the sprites and textures had to be remade in the 16 bit format of the SNES and that also included the audio. At best it’s a “enhanced port” but it’s much closer to a remake or remastered version than a straight port.
I just replayed the game a few days, and unlock the true end. I hope this game gets viral so we get a sequel on the current console or at least an 99´game. Edit: The original game was for satella view, and late when this one was discontinued, was released as a cadrige for de super famicom. The original nes sounds are dificult to reproduce in the snes or the famicom repectly because the sound chip functions very diferent, this better explained for people who try to reprograme super mario world to make new games or just the original super mario bros, in the later case, having the same sound as the all star version because of the soundchip that use.
4:37 I think there might be an error in the video, as the Wrecking Crew NES music doesn't play in this (but does play in the second part

I just learned of this game and now I am excited to try it! Thanks for the video!

@@The_hot_blue_fire_guy but it's literally running the same exact code and text and levels as the original

@@macksnotcool I mean straight-up ports of NES games on SNES. Not remakes
@@Wevegottrouble Yeah I get that now
I actually like the SNES audio better, the muffle makes it lighter on the ears
why was it realeased on the snes when n64 was on hype? they could simply do an wrecking crew 64
