They forbid their children to make friends with others and state that friends are "peer pressuring them to do things that are morally wrong", so even when the friends invite their children to hang out with each other, even during the weekends for an hour, they slam the door in the friends' faces. The only time they let their children leave the house is when they are supervising them, even if it is just for taking daily walks, no matter how concerned the friends will laugh at them calling them "Momma's Boy". Every single time the children fall millimeters short of the stars, (even from things they couldn't control, such as Restricted Early Actions to Harvard with full-ride scholarships, as a matter of fact, Ivy league schools cost a lot of money, and they force the children to either get the full ride or take out student loans; they will NOT pay their children's college tuition) they abuse them. All of these leave permanent scars in their children's hearts, and eventually, when they go to college, that sudden influx of freedom will instantly cause them to party. They will drink alcohol and smoke weed in fraternities (which is why fraternities have a bad reputation), and eventually, their grades will slip; they can't keep up with their extracurriculars; and they might as well get caught by the police and get sent to jail. The partying and drinking are all caused by insanity, where the parties provide a way to escape the insanity, which is why, to all parents, setting strict academic / EC requirements and barring children from social life DON'T make their children more successful in life; instead, it only temporarily provides a false hope that the children are rising to the stars -- only for them to crash and burn when they come of age. The best way to raise a child is to allow them to follow their dreams. As long as you keep following your dreams, success will eventually come. Most importantly, you will feel satisfied as you work toward your goals, so there will be minimum stress. As long as they aren't doing things that jeopardize their own safety, health, and/or well-being, such as drinking, smoking, or doing drugs, let them follow their dreams.
