I don't know how much your drone cost Daniel but... it is paying you back in spades. Magnificent shots of my favourite part of Snowdonia. In the UK the beauty of this area is only beaten by parts of the Cuillins imho. Like a previous comment stated - I can't believe that no one has suggested this Dolmen Ridge scramble - the route looks amazing and I intend to do it next year. Keep up the good work sir 🫡
Thank you, and for the coffee - that's very much appreciated ;-). Yes, the drone is one the best purchases I've ever made. I was in the Rhinogs last month and got some stunning footage of me scrambling up Hywel Ridge, with lots of sweeping drone movements (it's on the channel). I think I paid just under a grand for the drone with some spare batteries, a fast charger and a few other bits. All the best.
Nice to see footage of you at the top of the ridge early on, reassuring us that you had no need for the tomb halfway up so we could relax during the rest of the video!
Wow, what a route, must be one of the most exposed scrambles in the area. That said the rock looked superb. Great informative video. Really helpful hints and tips.
Really uplifting to watch, I won’t be doing any grade 3 anytime soon so good to watch from the safety of my sofa! I bet there were no old cans of fosters in that cave! 😃
Amazing footage, which I went through a few times before soloing it without ropes over the weekend. Conditions were rather wet and the fog came in which made it more scary. Also soloed Cneifion and Clogwyn Arete yesterday which were fortunately drier and had blue skies. Will be doing Dolmen ridge again hopefully in better conditions.
Thanks, defo one of my favourite routes, this was only my 2nd time but will do it again. At 10min04sec in my drone footage, you can just about see a man standing at the very top of the ridge, looking back down at the route. :-).
@@thebaldscrambler took the North ridge and down the south ridge. I did it alone which made me more nervous but like I said am hooked. I recently did crib goch and planing to do the glyders soon
I love the North Ridge, done it a few times in the snow too, makes it even more exciting. I recommend Bristly Ridge as a continuation after Tryfan, it's not as exposed as Crib Goch but still one of the best grade 1 scrambling lines in Snowdonia.
@@thebaldscrambler this is another ambition or goal shall i say is to get into winter scramble and hiking in the snow. i guess i need to learn to walk before i can run
Awesome looking route there, been a fair few years since I've been climbing, but sure inspired me to give some scrambles a go! (easier ones first I can imagine!)
Been so lucky with the weather here this year, I'm making the most of it ;-). I still do loads of easier scrambling and hiking, I love it all. Thanks for commenting.
Amazing work. I know a few who have done this but none without rope protection. I’d love to give it a go but not sure about that steep section. I’ve done Bryant’s Gulley and Y Garn’s East Ridge, both G2.
Hi and thanks, The Bald Scrambler for sharing. First of all , I would like to send big congrats reaching on the milestone "200"!!! Wow...My mind was blown away by this drone footage...0:35, 10:09 Ohhhh...Mirror, Mirror, the reflection on the water...2:26 OMG, rock climbing???...4:04 Ahhh...I see your plan on how to get to the summit....you sounds so easily...4:26...no safety rope? No gloves? Sooo scary....5:12...how did you mount your cam?...are they in your hand? How heavy is your backpack? I feel dizzy....7:39 I apologize for asking many questions.. One last question: what defines grade 3 scramble? Well done. I look forward to the upcoming video. Thank you for taking us to extreme climbing through your lens. 🙋♀🙋♀🛶🛶
I did quite a lot of climbing and some mountaineering when I was in my teens, but always roped. So I struggle a bit with the risks involved with scrambling, it seems so much more dangerous. I guess you know when you're ready because you feel confident, and vice versa if it doesn't feel right don't do it.
Yes, but plenty of other routes in Snowdonia on easier lines, I'll be doing a few grade 1 scrambles tomorrow and Thursday as there's a weather window. I think Dolmen Ridge is one of the harder routes and the crux section is heart stopping without ropes!

Glorious rock.
How did I not know about this route?
Thanks Great footage
Really creative, dramatic footage of an amazing scramble…. We did this yesterday in similar conditions! Thanks Dan!
Thanks, it's one of my favourites. I've done it a few times now and it never disappoints!
The crux looked interesting... I'm sure I'd want a rope on nowadays, just to be safe!

Great photography and doesn't the sun help! Dolmen is up there amongst the best scrambles in the UK I think.
I think so too!

Lol, no rusty disposable BBQs either! Quite possibly the cleanest cave in all of Wales :-).
Amazing mate.🏴

Glad you like them!
great route. The ramp is such a special place with the corner to come!
It certainly is! Defo one of my fav routes, I did it twice earlier this week ;-).
Wow amazing. I did tryfan back in March. 1st ever scrambling now am hooked.
What did you take? The North Ridge? Scrambling is addictive!

I enjoyed taking that footage, I'm just editing Pinnacle Ridge and Y Garn's East Ridge so two more vid for next week!

Cracking vid 👍 did this last weekend, I roped up for the crux, first time on the route. Certainly no place to panic if soloing 😆
Lovely route though, isn't it?! I enjoyed the top bit of scrambling around the tomb as well.
@@thebaldscrambler It's a corker, crux being the limit of scrambling, like you said 👌

Fantastic video, felt like I was watching something on National Geographic. The only tip you didn't mention was to take a spare pair of boxers 😂
Thanks. Yup, the crux was as steep as it looked! All good fun though.
