The live videos with the outtakes, equipment failures and banter are definitely better. Its like watching a mate cooking at camp rather than watching a cooking show on TV
From a south african living in south africa and braaing boerewors at least once a week : spot on ! cannot wait to try this recipe - all the way from a farm at Thabazimbi South Africa!
Have to agree. One of my favourite ways to have a Boerie Roll when on the road or camping is in a wrap, with your favourite chakalaka or even coleslaw.. I enjoyed the “JohannesPerth” comment. Another favourite from our side is “PerthFontein”…
Mate you make a video whichever way you like. Everything you do is with a lot of effort and is high quality and I appreciate it. Thanks for giving me heaps of great stuff to watch 👍
Well done bud ..... From a South African I must say that does look good and now finding out you half of you is from our shores slot of your cooking and things you do make sense.... Nice
As a South African I have not complaints to offer you your technique. Kudu's to you on the pronunciation of boerewors and braai!!! Will definitely try the chachalaca recipe as we at times go the easy route and buy it in a tin and warm up with onions, garlic (never too much), curry power and bake beans. Re your presentation, either way is good, will still watch your videos no matter what approach you use.
Enjoyable vid as always, but definitely prefer the live commentary to the voiceover. But if it helps speed up the editing process when needed, why not have both!? Cheers Harry.
As another South African I have to say spot on with that boerie! The baked beans in the chakalaka is new to me but I think I may just give it a try - over here we tend to just make a tomato and onion relish to go with the boerewors rolls. Great show - please keep it coming
Loved it Harry! Doing your video with a voice over showcased not only another delicious meal but also let your sense of humour shine! Johannes’Perth’ cracked me up - never heard my home town called that. Will def share that with a few mates who are South African!
Dont know how i missed it last week, but i feel inspired, i am lighting the fire now and getting my boerewors roll on the braai. Love your work. Love your videos, CHEERs and BRAAI on.
Brilliant Harry! You were spot on with the chakalaka and the Boerie. I prefer the in person speaking than the voice over though, its a lot more personal. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great job Harry, really enjoyed the simplicity of the location but I have to say, as someone who grew up camping but now never gets to go camping, I live vicariously through your outdoors videos. Do it all buddy, I just subscribed and will continue to watch!
I like this style of video, quick to watch and get the info needed, whilst still entertaining. Has a bit of a Harry Freeman Fisher vibe about it. If I had to choose, I do prefer your regular style; why not do a bit of both? My brothers were born in Zimbabwe, my dad learnt fire cooking there, pretty much the only time he cooked! :) And thanks for the carrot Sam ;)
Good one Harry. We call the grill a Toeknuiprooster 🙂 or, directly translated, a Close, Pinch, Grill. I will try adding the beans the next time, these are usually a side at my home, not everyone likes them. I can taste that from here
Will have to give it a go. Baked beans goes well in alot of dishes, like the you say adds a bit of sweetness and texture... Cheers Mark... Oh yeah, the commentary, anyway you like mate...👍👍
I knew it! From the first video i stumbled across and you mentioning an Aus braai i sorta knew you were South African because no Aussie speaks of braai. Love your work keep it up.
As an American, I have absolutely zero room to say anything, but you Aussies sure are creative with your flavor combinations! Because, damn, that tin of baked beans came in like a wrecking ball. I'd eat the shit out of that though! Will have to try this next time summer rolls around on the northern hemisphere.
@@Sgarnoncunce Thanks for the clarification! We don't have too large of a South African population so there's not much exposure to their food. Ethiopian is fast becoming the main African cuisine that's become popular in the States
That has to be the best 'hotdog' I have ever seen! One comment though, Oils ain't oils and curry power ain't curry powder :) My plea to people using curry powder is don't use things like Keen's or Clive of India. If you don't want to make your curry powder from scratch, try to find something like Baba's meat curry. I found the voice over style fine, it lets you concentrate on cooking and then add in what you want later but I would still like to see the occasional 'live' version as it does seem a little more personal.
Good video, like the format with the mix of voice over and 'live' commentary. And you did the Saffer meal proud. So next is a braai-pie? If I'm on parent-cater-rugby duty, I often knot the boerrie in single portions and snip for straight lines for ease of grilling. It naturally curves when rolling it on the coals. And the braai-gods only allow this for boerrie rolls.
Nice video Harry, the voice over is different and is nice and clear, I do enjoy your commentary as you cook, maybe a balance of both say voice over for ingredients and ingredient prep and once your cooking go back to commentary. I’ll keep watching regardless of what you do 👌
Hey Harry couldn't help thinking while you where cooking swapping siracha for nandos and maybe som mushrooms in the chakalaka. I don't know it's just what crossed my mind. The voice over was fine but if I had to vote I'd pick the running commentary. Keep up the good work
I kinda like the "live" commentary-as-you-cook just because it feels a bit more animated. The voice over style feels like you're describing someone else's cooking...maybe its just because its the first one. I say if you like doing it this way keep mixing them in and see how it goes but please don't give up your original style completely. All the best from the US.
I agree but I'd say this was because of being at home and wanted to minimise noise so as to not wake the baby or perhaps neighbours working from home like so many of us are currently. I'm sure it won't stay this way long term but if it did, I'd still watch.
Lol South Africans are not that strict on all the rules, as long as it tastes great its all good, you did us proud and I think Oom Andrew St. Pierre would also appreciate this.
Great to hear you will be getting back out in the bush ( does that sound weird?) was starting to feel fenced in. I am going to have to double down to keep up with trying all these ripper meals.
New format is great but I still like the ASMR of your cow chewing a tree and the fire crackling. Queue the b-roll of that Old El Paso mexican food ad with the girl saying "Why can't we have both"?
That looks awesome. Don't like my chances of getting those sausages in regional Victoria. Is there a readily available substitute for similar results? Cheers mate 👍
Love the new voice over style mate throw in some live commentary while your eating it and maybe just the funny moment while filming 👍 and maybe try to learn to edit in a pointing finger 😂
The live videos with the outtakes, equipment failures and banter are definitely better. Its like watching a mate cooking at camp rather than watching a cooking show on TV
Got to agree. While the food looked great, it lacked engagement.

I am a South African, and I approve of this video... lol
Well done bud .....

Nice
2 beers in ten minutes 👍👍👍👍🇦🇺 I don’t mind the voice over but then you miss the bloopers keep up the good work Harry

So good to see some S.A traditional food on your channel, keep up the good work! Nothing better than boerewors roll, chakalaka and a cold one.
Enjoyable vid as always, but definitely prefer the live commentary to the voiceover. But if it helps speed up the editing process when needed, why not have both!? Cheers Harry.
Definitely prefer the live commentary as opposed to the voice over, but hey, its your channel, you do whatever you like. Keep up the good work Harry.
Yes boykie,👌🏻👌🏻 our mates in the Pilbara affectionately call wors "The Metre long snagger "
As another South African I have to say spot on with that boerie! The baked beans in the chakalaka is new to me but I think I may just give it a try - over here we tend to just make a tomato and onion relish to go with the boerewors rolls. Great show - please keep it coming

JohannesPerth 😂😂 that's awesome.
Very cool format. Keep it going
"Delete a couple beers out of your fridge"🤣 perfect 👌
Enjoyed the live commentary!
And perfectly executed boerie, from a South African! Didn't even decimate any of the pronunciation. Nice one 👍

Well done on the boerewors, spot on ,from Cape Town South Africa ,love your videos
Great video Harry. Backyard keeps it real, though in the bush is obviously better. I like it short and sharp, sib 10 minutes is great.
Thought this format was great Harry. Bit of humour and really easy to see what's going on. Nice!
Best video yet, easy to watch and can go back through it easier if you miss a step or something 👍👍
Sit back and delete a couple of beers from your fridge 😄 the most aussie cooking step I've heard. Thank you, I'll add that to all my recipes.
Boerewors Rolls = Lekker man
I love everything you have done. I do like the more casual videos like cooking with a mate.
Like the new format, good to mix things up, keep things fresh
I like this style of video, quick to watch and get the info needed, whilst still entertaining.
Has a bit of a Harry Freeman Fisher vibe about it.

Your Xhosa brother from another mother approves Harry!!! 🙌🏿👌🏿🤙🏿

Been watching for a long time
Love the cooking and camping.
Dropped what I was doing when the youtube notification title came through, awesome to see South African cuisine on your show :D
I personally love videos from "man with the pot" would love to see your versions of cooking episodes like that.
As a dutch person we had boer worst with cabbage or saurkrator kale and mash potato also great but I now want to try this version looks great
I loved this format!
Digging the style Harry, it's cool... the meal looks incredible too, love ya work mate!
New format is killa keep em coming !
Well done Harry. Great that you got all the lingo correct.
Loved it, short and sweet...fire, outside, and cooked meat washed down with favorite liquid.
Bloody hell Harry, you've nailed it buddy 10/10 👌 Cheers from South Africa 👍👌✌🐺🐾
I had no idea you were one of my mob! Well done with this recipe and video! Back to what you do well! 😊
new format works just as well, good stuff
Love ❤️ this style of video my wife and myself found it very informative and easy to follow cheers Harry
Definitely prefer on the fly Harry with random facts and banter.
Love it. Aka Gourmet Boeries! Love the channel and how you always correctly pronounce the BRAAI!
Will have to give it a go. Baked beans goes well in alot of dishes, like the you say adds a bit of sweetness and texture...
Cheers Mark...
Oh yeah, the commentary, anyway you like mate...👍👍
Great video, loved it. I made this for the 1st time last week. Your recipe is much better than the one i found. Will have to make it this weekend.
Proper boerewors roll🙌🏻 keep it coming. Out of SA
Prefer the live commentary rather than the binging with Harry style
I like both styles
Great stuff! Not sure about the beans, but will def give it a try! (Cooked correctly, i am South African, living in Sydney)
I knew it! From the first video i stumbled across and you mentioning an Aus braai i sorta knew you were South African because no Aussie speaks of braai. Love your work keep it up.
To the Zimbabwean Dad 💎🥳 for teaching him
Much prefer live chat Harry. Way more personal and you get the feeling of being involved.
Credit the south africans for this one. There is a big saffa population in Australia however
@@Sgarnoncunce Thanks for the clarification! We don't have too large of a South African population so there's not much exposure to their food. Ethiopian is fast becoming the main African cuisine that's become popular in the States

Best topping for a boerrie is onions with a bit of balsamic and mrs balls chutney!

Love this, and all your videos.
Awesome video as usual, loved the commentary style
I really enjoyed the voice-over! keep it! 😁
It looks good and South African Braai food always goes well with beer
Love it, keep doing what you like it makes for great videos and food
Like the change up mate!

Harry, I like this format too
My mate makes these sausages as he is South African. We call them Zebra sausages. Format OK Harry keep up the good work.
Not sure about beans in my Chakalaka but amazing. Home sick and hungry now 😂
Pass the hunters!
Mouth watering as always mate.
I prefer a mix of ‘live’ and then commentary.
Video works for me bro, I had to go and cook some snags 👍😁🍻
Would you add cheese to it? Or is that a no no ? Looks awesome 👍😎
I might get shot for this secret but try marinating a vors in sherry , brings out a whole different level of flavour
New format is great but I still like the ASMR of your cow chewing a tree and the fire crackling. Queue the b-roll of that Old El Paso mexican food ad with the girl saying "Why can't we have both"?
Thanks for the tip on cooking the brurubru, I have previously cooked it and it was shit cause I reckon I cooked it too bloody hot on my Q.👍
Great video Harry, loved it.
Lekker Harry! I like the format.
Dude you’re a legend.
loving the Video... is there a substitute to the green/red pepers, I'm allergic to 'em :(
That’s good I like it. Thanks
You can also buy the original chakalaka (hot) in a tin for camping from the SA shop 😉
All good 👍👌
Thanks for rhe carrot Sam - We all know Harry couldn't do this without you 🤟
Stephen Murray
Great video keep it up
That looks awesome. Don't like my chances of getting those sausages in regional Victoria. Is there a readily available substitute for similar results? Cheers mate 👍
This guy loves the sound of his own voice 😂
Well done.
Thanks for the Carrot Sam! :)
I like how your voice drops with the voice over like a Morgan freeman
Looks delicious… too bad I don’t have my neighbours camp oven
"Nou braai ons" nice vid!
New format is good. Better-er in fact. Looking forward to a new reason to cook on a fire. And drink beer.
Loved the episoed so Harry since you said your DAD is zimbabwean can you pronounce any word or statement in shona (one of zimbabwe's language)
Love the new voice over style mate throw in some live commentary while your eating it and maybe just the funny moment while filming 👍 and maybe try to learn to edit in a pointing finger 😂
Cheers from SA
