That EMS looks confusing to use.
HOLY COW! This is the most comprehensive rv essential video I’ve ever seen and I’ve watched them all. VERY well done Ross!
Wow, thanks Samuel. I spent almost 5 months making it and wanted it to be as complete and universal as possible. Glad you enjoyed!
You’re not kidding!!
Yupp!
GREAT JOB
Ross is awesome! He knows his stuff
Walter PDP 9mm, must have while traveling.
I mounted a 50 cal amo can to the back bumper of my rv with a u-bolt to store my sewer connections. Works great and handy location.
There’s only one more thing I would add. This video. If anyone is thinking about getting into the RV lifestyle, they need to watch this video even before buying an RV.
Set up costs can definitely be overwhelming if you don’t know exactly what you will need. Thanks Brian!
I haven’t gotten my RV yet and I’m watching this, should be picking mine up in a week or so
I bought a new Forest River Vibe from Camping World. I had most of the essentials before with my old camper. Some of the high dollar items can be added in to the cost of the camper “out the door” cost. I racked up $4k worth of extras on top of the camper price. It doesn’t sting so bad if you extend it out over several years.
I’m in that exact spot. Thinking about buying later this year. As a former scout, I take “Be Prepared” to heart. It’s overwhelming, but I’m making the list!
Best RV tip video I seen! Every other video talk about emotions and crap. This video shows real details on how to live a proper rv life!
Appreciate that my friend!
A drain snake comes in handy, a shovel for poisonous snakes, a hideakey box for your camper door/vehicle
thanks for adding!
You mentioned the JumpPak to jump your tow vehicle if needed. I suggest looking at some that are built with a compressor. If you don't have power, using this battery-powered compressor will be easier than the hand pump. Even if it doesn't fill the tire completely, any help is better than needing to do it all by hand.
I might suggest putting the water regulator before the filter as some of these water filters can not handle anything higher than 60 psi such as the Clear2O filter. I discovered this after getting the new 10 micron stage 1 filter.
Also, try a 90 degree water connector with a shutoff. I have found this very helpful at times where I can shut off city water as I am flushing my black tank to get full pressure during the flush out.
Good call
Consider a lock for your power protector. Dog bone is also handy when the 30 amp socket is defective but they have a good 50 amp socket next to it. Worked for me😊
We use a bike cable lock on the EMS, probably overkill but why not right?
For a jump pack I would recommend jump and carry. They have a small one that I keep with me and it can jump anything even diesels. It’s smaller than your surge protector. It also has a warranty which is usually rare for these jump packs
like this one? amzn.to/4bi45I1
@@RVTIPSANDTRAVELSit’s the same brand but they have a smaller one. I’ll try to find it!
Can't he JUST be the most informative, concise and well spoken camper info influencer? Why does he have to be the finest too?! GAH!
Just right off the bat - I carry my drill with the bit for the jacks, but, when i bought the drill I also got a SAWZALL. I bought a pair of PRUNING BLADES for it. You would NOT believe how handy that has become. I've cut firewood, I've cut panels in my RV so I could install or fix something. Heck. I just cut stuff to cut stuff to whittle. ;-) ... Just don't cut a down tree that has a yellow jacket nest in it like my buddy did. hahahaha. A DeWalt Bit set, and Drill Bit Set are VERY handy as they have the square bits and the star bits in them. Other than that - you covered about everything I carry. Have a great time out there and see ya on the road.
Awesome idea, thanks for sharing my man! Safe travels to you as well!
A magnetic light works well also, if you’re not keen on the headlamp types.
Wow, that pretty much sums it up for your essentials when RV’ing. I am now on my 20th year and I am always learning something new and that is thanks to Ross and his channel. 👏
Thanks as always Paul!
seems like RV’ing is well aligned with survival prepping
Definitely
For airing up tires I use the m18 milwakwee air pump it very good and quick
We have the Hughes voltage booster because the power in our camp ground sucks. The only other thing I can think of that you didn't include, unless I missed it, is spare gaskets for the sewer hose connections. We've had a couple dry out on us and have had leaks at the connections.
Excellent point, thanks for adding to the video MF.
Wow. This is the JACKPOT of RV Essentials. Saving this one; thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
I love your videos. So much information and all useful. Along with everything you mentioned I would like to add some safety tips. A safety vest and triangles are great, (being a retired trucker, I carry mine), but you can also carry Red Flashing LED Breakdown lights that you can mount to your truck or trailer. Most are magnetic and most have hooks so you can hang them from your rear ladder or somewhere else if you don't have a ladder on your rig.
I also carry a Battery powered weather radio for those times when power goes out for whatever reason. Great for tracking storms coming your way.
Lastly, I carry a battery powered, hand-held VHF Marine radio but I actually have a 12v VHF radio in the 5th wheel and in my tow vehicle. Don't let the name fool you. It's not just used on a boat anymore. Lots of hunters, and Game Wardens, use VHF radio for communicating with each other. It has a "line of sight" reception/transmit, meaning it has a reception range of almost 26 miles. Of course, a battery powered unit will reduce the reception/transmit distance, but it will also work as a weather warning system when needed.
Thanks again for all your videos. Keep up the great job you are doing for all of us. See ya on the road.
thanks for adding to the video!
We are newbs, and this video is expert, concise, and simply outstanding. Graphics are clear and explanations so sensible. We thank you a dozen times over!
thanks for watching and the nice comment Ron. glad to help.
I love my cordless 18v impact wrench. It makes removing lug nuts a breeze!
We use pvc rain gutter to support sewer hose. Two 8’ lengths and cut one to different lengths. We store on bumper. We like tank tech rx which is a pro biotic that eats stuff
Ross, you’ve always made some of the best videos out there but you’ve out done yourself with this one! The info was fabulous and the editing was some of the best I’ve ever seen! Great job buddy!
Thanks Matt, 5 months I spent on this. Appreciate it!
Thanks for the comprehensive list !!! With the current extreme weather this reminder of possible issues couldn’t come at a better time!
Glad it was helpful Sue!
Thank you Ross! Wife and I are new to RV'in and pick up our GD Imagine 4/3. We can't watch enough of your videos. Thank you for all the info. We're definitely going out well informed. 👍
Glad to help!
Fabulous tutorial. Quick, not over explained. Clear and concise. I'll get a bottle jack. Thanks for creating and sharing.
Thanks Peter, hope it helped!
Ross, thanks so much for the effort you put into these videos. This was an excellent review for me, someone who was a fulltimer back in 1997-2000, then out of the RV community until just now. So much has changed for the better, and you've informed me of solutions I'd likely not found on my own except through trial and error.
thats awesome to hear, thanks for watching bud!
Very good list. I would also add water heater fuses to the list as I had mine go out when camping and now I keep 3 extras just in case.
Thanks for adding!
Ross, Thanks!! Returning to RVing & a few bits I forgot! You covered it all, & really well.
Thanks for watching Glenn
Your videos are honestly the best. I am brand new with a seasonal site and I’m stocking up and educating myself!
Awesome! Thank you!
Wow this was fantastic! Such a comprehensive list. Thank you 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Best video on youtube for RV essentials. Thank you so very much.
Wow, thank you!
Great tips. A lot of things you don’t typically think about.
Thanks Patrick. Glad it was helpful.
GREAT INFORMATION! Very well covered, and common sense ideas! Thanks for sharing!
Our pleasure!
Straight to the point Ross! We bought almost all your list. Thanks
Glad to help! Thank you for watching and supporting the channel by making purchases from our links... we appreciate it!
Thanks for that video! Your video was so concise, with everything that is essential. I’ve been RVing in a truck Camper for the last 4 years, and I’m glad I found your channel 👍
Glad it was helpful Phil.
Wow that’s a lot of stuff. Thank you for a simple checklist video.
Glad it was helpful!
This guy is the best!! I have had a trailer for 6 years and agree with ALL his recommendations.
Thank you so much for watching our videos!
Loving the ESU sweatshirt. Go Warriors!!
I already have/did most of the stuff you showed here but the hooks on the bathroom vent are a great idea. Thanks for all the great content you put out there!
Glad to help and thank you!
We just purchased one yesterday and this is so informative and gives us a heads up !! This is the best video I've found so far all week!! 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks Tom, glad to help!
Best camper essentials I've seen on RUclips!! Much thanks!!
Wow, thanks!
A thorough list. Although not essential, I would add quick connects for water. Saved me so much time and hassle.
Thinking about them myself David. Definitely not essential I agree but sometimes convenience items are essential to people who don’t enjoy spending the time to set up and tear down. Thanks for commenting bud!
Yeast cube works as well . Just one table in each bathroom . Once per mouth .
Huge, thank you!!
Glad it helped!
Excellent video! Thank you for sharing, and providing the list of items.
You bet!
Your videos are so good. Straight to the point basic and very thorough. Thank you.
Hope they help you!
Extremely great info. Thanks for posting.
Hope it helped!
Great video. Thanks for doing it. We just bought our first RV, a Montana High Country 373 RD & this is a tremendous resource we will use as we get ready to take our first trip. Thanks again. I look forward to watching all your videos.
Glad it was helpful!
Outstanding video.... watched every second and made a list... now I'm going shopping....
haha! Glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching my friend and let me know of any questions you may have.
This is by far the best video I have seen on how to prepare for RV ing. Thank you for that.
Wow, thanks! Glad to help!
You got yourself a new subscriber, I’m planning on buying my first RV and this is extremely concise and comprehensive!!
Awesome! Thank you, and glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this video. I am a newbie at 64 and the advise you have offered is fantastic. I am gonna stock up on everything you have suggested and hit the road.
Glad it was helpful, thanks for the comment!
Hughes autoformer is the best one for sure. Especially because you can replace the inside unit if it sacrifices itself. More bang for your book. Although it's not essential, a digital thermostat is a must in our situation. We got the micro air easy thermostat. You get better control of your ac and with Wi-Fi you can have alerts if it gets too hot or too cold inside. We're at our 4th year camping and with videos like these it feels like I've been doing it for 10. Thanks
Glad to help, here’s our Micro air video… fantastic product. ruclips.net/video/o0-Yvr3YPQo/видео.htmlsi=GtRc6S_nDAIn0q1S
Thanks for all the info, we just purchased our first TT (2020 Imagine 2400BH) and these videos are gold, great content!🙏
Great floor plan, have fun!
Never thought to have a replacement fuse for the surge protector on hand 😅. Just ordered one. Thanks for the tip
No problem 👍
First off GREAT VIDEO! Here are a few more things depending on your viewer's skill level. Keep in mind I have been camping my entire life and mostly boon-docking so you have to be self-sufficient. At least 75% of the repairs are done on fellow campers rigs. If I do not have what you need, it will be in my rig on the next trip! Yes, Even a 110 or 24V flux core welder. Needless to say, I have issues.
-Spare wire, crimper/cutter/strippers, and an assortment of electrical connectors even wire nuts.
-Overalls, Magic Creeper (amazon), or a large cardboard box you can open up. Beats lying in the dirt, gravel or on hot asphalt if you have to under your rig for a repair.
-Consider a CO2, halotron, or fire blanket. The first time you use a standard ABC extinguisher, the powder gets EVERYWHERE. Definitely have an ABC if you need it.
-Super glue (my personal fav)
-Gorilla Glue
-SM or MED tarp
-Brake/carb cleaner
-Spare spark plug for generator
-Starting fluid
-Can of coil cleaner for refer or a/c
-Kindling Cracker Firewood Splitter (amazon) with short handle sledge hammer (3-5lb)
-Clear safety glasses
-P-Cord or small diameter rope
-Tub O Towels TW90 Heavy-Duty
THANKS, AND THANK YOU for adding to the video!
I am a newbie and this video is great. RV Tips and Travels is an awesome channel.
Awesome! Thank you!
Great job, keep them coming.
Thanks for watching Greg, more are definitely coming!
Great Video with great tips. Lots of good information for me to get ready for this years RV season Thanks!
Our pleasure!
I like the battery container.
I skimmed through a lot but cones are a great resource for parking off-road!
Excellent addition, thanks Raymond!
Bro you are amazing, thank you so much for this, we are new RVers and i have a vintage 1968 camper. This is a bit more than i need but so impressive and thank you so much, this rocked!!!
Glad it helped
Great video. Thanks like others have said very comprehensive.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! Another item I have added to my RV is pool noodles! I cut a slit down the length of each noodle and push them across the top edge of my slide until the whole length is covered (Took 2.5 noodles) so when my awning is down it is not rubbing against the top edge of slide causing possible wear and tear over time and keeps my awning in great condition😊
nice, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this video! I found your channel this week as we are preparing to take ownership of a travel trailer. I’ve been binge watching the past few days! This one is amazing! I’m going to make a checklist from your list. I will probably only add sheets and pillows/ pillow covers, as well as some suggestions in your comments. I’ve liked all I have watched and I have also subscribed. What a gold mine of info all in one place! Thanks.
Best of luck! Let me know if you have any questions!
Awesome video! Thank you so much
Hope it helped Justin!
Thank you…Great video…Peace and Blessings
Same to you!
WOW amazing video! I work at an RV dealership and I am in service. For all the newbies to RV'ing I would totally recommend this video and your channel.
Thanks Colleen, please share it to your customers. I have a few dealerships that sit new buyers down to this video lol!
Great video with good information. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent job at creating this video. I’ve watched this video more than once and took note both times.
I added double sided mounting tape. Recommend how to use Pex crimpers and maybe add Pex tubing cutter, strait union and 90degree elbow. My flush mechanism developed a leak while on the road and had to stop in and buy a shut off valve to put in line.
I have watched at least 15-20 of your video in the last 3 days. Always well done and informative. Thank you b
Thanks for the kind words and the suggestions Nathan. A pex video is coming but I’m sure there are tons of them already. Thanks for being a part of the channel bud.
Great video, thank you!!!
Hope it helps!
All great suggestions!!
I’ve been pulling a camper for 13yrs and my MUST HAVE for trailering is a rear monitor system.
Whether you go top brand or Amazon, they are absolutely amazing and can drastically improve towing.
I agree Adam!
Great info, thanks for sharing.
You bet!

I’ve got an onboard viair compressor for my rear bags, and an air chuck by my back license plate. Super glad I have that sucker
Nice!
Best, most comprehensive info I've seen after watching 100s of videos. Subscribed off this one video
Thank you, hope it helped!
Great advice!
Glad it was helpful!
I'm currently looking to buy my first RV and this video was perfect! I'll be sure to watch the other ones as well.
glad it helped, dont hesitate to ask any questions you may have.
I use a 90 degree on the city hookup of my class C so when we move I take it off and push the plastic plug in till it’s next use. Going down the road I suspect wouldn’t hurt with that brass fitting still hooked into my city water hookup. Seems simple.
Wow such a great list!!
Glad you enjoyed
That was great you’re a really good teacher! Thank You
Glad it was helpful Brian!
Last October I picked up a 2018 Forest River Rpod 179 Hood River edition with 3 100watt solar panels up top, 4 6volt deep cycle batteries on the front with a Xantrex HFS2055 2000watt inverter. It has the Thule awning and the trailer is in beautiful condition. Got it for 10,000 dollars. Can not wait for camping season. Been a tent camper all my life and at 50 it's getting less enjoyable to sleep on the ground. Looking forward to glamping at some of our wilderness sites here in northern California.
That’s awesome my friend! Have fun out there!
Great video. Thank you. Love your Knoebels shirt. My favorite place on earth.
Ours too, especially in the fall.
I have 2 chordless impacts with me, chordless drill and impact sockets. The one thing that is not noted is most RVs have alloy rims but the spare tire is steel. Steel rims use a different lug nut than alloy. Great video BTW.
Thanks for sharing Mike!
Where does the wife and kids stuff go with all these toys?
The emergency windows check is a great suggestion.
Thanks for watching!

Glad it helped!

Well done as usual Ross. I’m currently working on a few similar videos to jump start the new season as well.
Thanks Chris. Will need to catch up soon!
Like really - thank you a lot, so much small things but very helpful!
*Thank you so much for the donation! Have a great weekend!*
Congrats on your 7th year. Keep it going. I am thinking of changing the tires on our RV. Have peace of mind. Thanks.
Thanks Warren, my tires beginning of last year still had good tread after 4years since we dont travel far, but I changed them for that exact reason, piece of mind.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it and we hope it helped!
