What song should we curse next? ;)
Hello
Cry little sister from the lost boys? ^-^
Definitely Miracle, I MEAN IMAGINE
“All of us” has potential…
Everything, every single song in the universe 🤩
Luisa sounds like she’s about to break and not in the anxiety way but the about to kill someone way. It’s mostly noticeable in Jonathans lines(some of them sound like she’s seconds away from murder even) but Anna and Caleb kinda show it too tbh. (Anna’s little laugh during one of hers gives off major about to snap vibes)
Jonathan's is hostile and violent, as Anna's is the delusional anger, meanwhile Caleb reigning it in as stressed yet annoyance... At least to my ears :p
The pillars of musical covers. Yes
@@ember_of_carnage exactly.
Anna and Caleb feel almost like a cathartic, in the process of giving in sort of deal
@@ember_of_carnage Ironically I think Johnathan's red hot rage is the safest with Caleb pleading with himself not to snap and Anna giving in, on the deadly side of the rage. Essentially losing it, then trying one final attempt to stop it, then finally settling in to murder.
I stand by my point: each and every single one of the Madrigals could've easily become a 'villain', had matter of circumstance pushed them in a slightly different direction
All it takes is a just one bad day?
Even Antonio?
@@avacadotoast5571 I think so, yeah. Being the youngest and the newest gift, he probably would get a lot of pressure to 'prove' his usefulness. He also sees every bit of (hidden) toxicity in the family and hears secrets from the animals. Everything together could've been too much and pushed him away from the family like it did with Bruno (and Mirabel)
Idk though, never got my degree in psychology (though I grew up in a family with nothing but psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists and have considered studying it myself)
Aight but how does the mom who's cooking heals use her powers for evil?
@@mastermuffles7097 Just stop cooking and let people die, I guess.
Sounds like a villain singing about the pressure they're under due to expectations to be powerful and evil
Or like the #1 henchgoon
or the pressures that eventually turned them evil
First thought after reading your comment was Megamind lmfao

Jonathan: I’m gonna make a cursed version of an encanto song
Anna and Caleb: *say no more.*
I think for Anna it was probably more “You DON’T want me to do Isa? I’m in.”
This might simply be the most powerful trio for covers
Bro I love how you've managed to get over 280k subs from one meme you uploaded 4 years ago and having a funny name.
100% it is

They really are
This trio are like gods among the RUclips singing community.
Real pillarmens
The trio of covers for sure
The 3 muses of RUclips
SUS
They're the RUclips singing equivalent to the Greek god pantheons big three. (Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus)
I don't know why Jonathan has started doing this type of cover, but honestly? I don't really care. They slap HARD!
I wish I could feel the same. Normally I love his metal covers.. some parts I enjoy in this, especially the chorus, but I'm not a huge fan of the cursed songs l covers. But that's just me. But it might just be the voice and distortion. Coz I loved Ana's part the most!
But if you guys enjoy it then all good haha. I'd love to hear a metal cover of this as well... ☺️
@@Kewlausgirl Yeah, same, I enjoy his usual covers more than these cursed ones, which is a bit sad cause I was looking forward to this song 😅 Either way, it is cool to hear him sing it :>
Slap harder than the originals imo.
@@Kewlausgirl Same I think the cursed songs are fun and not bad, but I like the metal covers better
@@fritzy8318 The only reason it is able to slap this hard is because the original already slaps super hard lol.
"oh? you're approaching me?"
"Can't talk about generational trauma without getting closer"
"Oh, then let me tell you about what's under the surface"
Niceu very niceu
*I would like to see this play out*
Original song & Ana's cover: A strong woman who has a hard time bearing the burdens of her family.
Caleb's cover: Same thing but the it's a strong guy.
J. Young's cover: A sociopathic slave driver who feeds on the suffering of others and keeps giving them harder and harder tasks just to see them crack under the pressure. Ana and Caleb are the guys being exploited and they sing about letting go of the pressure.
🤔... Seems legit
whait what tha
The three of them look like new Pillar (Wo)Men from Jojo! I love this song so seeing a "cursed" spin is awesome too! Really encompasses some of the stress I've been feeling the past few days.
To be fair there is a Jonathan in the trio!
We can never escape the jojo references dear god lol
Ayayayayaaaay
They really do
Jonathan sounds like he's being used as a killing machine for so long that he's desperate and fuels his dispair into pure rage to rampage even more.
Caleb sounds like someone who has been enslaved, and he's so done with it that he started slaughtering his masters and obliterating anyone who got close to him.
Anna in the other side sounds like someone who's stressed as hell with all the shit she has to deal with, but keeps following orders like a soldier and just casually kills her enemies brutally for fun as a way to relax in the meantime and release her internal anger.
Edit: I sure hope this comment doesn't get deleted because of all those violent words.
Never thought I would see Jonathan in a blouse but here we are. All jokes aside, this is great.
Then ya haven't seen the Schuyler sisters from Hamilton the cover he did lol
@@nightshade9580 No, I haven’t, maybe I’ll check it out, not so interested in Hamilton tbh

What about his grandson wearing one in Mexico while having some tequila, he had to learn it from someone, right?😅
Man, Anna's breakdown in the middle is powerful, and then she gets to the evil laugh, and I think you've just turned Luisa's emotional lament into a villain song
This man is straight up gonna turn every Madrigal into a supervillain.
Hopefully he does What Else Can I Do next.
To be fair they kind of have like one that has snapped and hiding in the wall and another that is on edge due to her powers. Also a 3rd that hears everything! It would not take much to twist them into family villains ruling over the town.
@@timezerohour8864 almost everyone has snapped cuz of their powers. Isabella is forcing herself to live up to an unreachable ideal, Luisa is paranoid at not being good enough, Pepa has to basically force herself to be happy all the time, Bruno was literally driven away from the community thanks to his visions, and Dolores gets no peace due to hearing everything all the time.
So basically Poison Ivy?
@@digimonalvatrax2738 yes
I definitely wasn't expecting to hear Annapantsu's voice, but it worked so well! Especially those harmonies!!
Ugh Love Anna😍
Jonathan Young asking the tough questions: what if, instead of being blessed one by one, the Madrigals were burdened with magical curses?
So it would be like
Pepa causes natural disasters if she feels ANY strong emotion
Julieta can heal people at the cost of harming herself
Bruno can't distinguish between the present and the future and is terrified by what he sees
Camilo shares the thoughts and emotions of whoever he turns into, to the point where he doesn't know who he is
Dolores' hearing is so sharp any small noise hurts her
Antonio attracts dangerous creatures
Isabela has plants growing inside of her
Luisa can't control her strength, the slightest touch breaks bones
Good thing that doesn't exist then.
Mirable is still the black sheep, but this time is because the family resents her for being able to avoid the curse. It's not her fault she was lucky, and they try so hard to not take out their jealousy on her, but it's not fair. Why did SHE avoid the curse? What did SHE do right?
I mean, the difference between a blessing and a curse is often perspective. Just look at Bruno.
You three are awesome. Were I able to post a gif through this interface, you’d get the “shut up and take my money” one. Seriously, “Cursed Kingdom” album. DO IT!
Also, side note. This would be a great song for Hades (the game).
I don't view this song as "Cursed". I think it's a little closer to that feeling of despair and anxiety deep within anyone feeling overburdened or overwhelmed with whatever it is they are facing. It's a peek into the inner world of anyone experiencing it. The original was fantastic, it was fun, and while it does address the character's struggle it also glorifies her march onward and how tough she is. Which misses the point a bit.
The only cursed thing about this is the face Jonathan-Luisa is making. And that's mainly from the shading.
Just because what She is doing is harmful to an extent, that doesn't mean the fact that she has been able to withstand everything thrown at her until that point isnt somehow amazing. Her gift isnt the weakness, its the pressure others put onto her because she is strong, hence why they give her back her gift at the end of the movie, and not just take it away and show her being happier. She wants to be strong, likes being strong, and sure people around her are taking advantage of that, but the ability to withstand that pressure and keep marching onward without snapping and using that strength against somebody is something to be praised. She didn't let anybody tear her down, so now that she is free of that pressure she can look back on her time under it with pride that she lived through it.
Thats how I look back on my years of suicidal thoughts and major depression (still have depression but the most devastating years are behind me). While the song didn't fully show what she should have done, it shows what would be going through her head accurately. Most people in trouble like her don't see a way to deal with it, so they just keep going and hope it ends eventually.
Yeah I love the original but I do see where it kinda fumbles it’s own message just a tiny bit. But hey, it doesn’t ruin it for me in any way it’s just fun to consider different facets of it
@@moon-moth1 I mean even if they do have that great dance scene in the song, that look on her face when she looks at Mirabel at the end says it all. The Panic and fear in her eyes and the change in her voice. She is a very outwardly confident and strong person who is reaching their breaking point, they are still going to try and act tough and capable, it took some real digging from mirabel to get even that much vulnerability out of her, and her fear is not being strong anymore, so of course she is going to try and be strong throughout the song. It wasn't until the end of the song where she really started letting the pressure show.
Exactly, when I heard the original I was a little confused as to the message but can actually really relate to this one
This is so haunting, I like how it's set out with Jon being the rage or anger with Caleb showing the anxiety, and Anna showing the wanting for happiness, all-round good family values, really gives an interesting insight into a different angle that Disney could have gone.
This is the song dnd players hear in their head when their character has a break down, love the video!
Anna: Isabela 🌸 (obsessed with perfection suffering Golden Child syndrome)
Jonathan: Luisa 💪(tries to be stronger enough so suffers from generalized anxiety disorder)
Caleb: Mirabel 🏠(tries to solving same situation but backfires suffering from Depression)
Perfect 👌
Has a real villain backstory vibe. In the sense of "they're not evil just justifiably angry" type of plot twist.
Imagine seeing lama's dancing in the background, subtly getting less goofy, taking on a serious tone, and getting ready for war as there deities continuing their number.
Really digging Jonathan's series on Encanto characters if they were the villains
To me... This sounds like a twisted version of what the song stands for. Like instead of the older sister bearing the weight of the pressure put on her, it's a dark voice telling the younger sibling to blow off all their familiar responsibility and let the older sister pick up all the lack. That way they can live without ever carrying share of the weight.
I can see this as some kind of internal struggle where the younger sibling is being mocked by and dark version of themselves.
Jonathan; manic villain talking about all the pressures he has (that turned him insane?)
Caleb; main character talking about all the pressure he has being the only one able to save people, and the worry he has having to protect his little brother/sister
Anna; optimistic older sister talking about setting things back to how they used to be before the pressure, but as it keeps growing, keeps going, she reaches her breaking point
Jonathan - Anger
Caleb - Fear
Anna- Sadness/ relief
So turned into a villain song, awesome. I could see a king/ruler sing this in a manner similar to “heaviest is the head that wears the crown.”
So scary! the anger, the fear, and the dying hope trying to pull together the last bit of sanity, each of you guys brought these feelings to life! outstanding performances and super original as always. The Encanto cover I didn't know I wanted!
The only one who truly encompasses the cursed version is Johnathan. But Anna and Caleb did great jobs too!
Caleb sucks!
@@animagreed lmao no.
@@wowguy1243 no idea what that means.
@@APlatypus lol yes.
Buff Jonathan can't hurt you, he's not real.
Buff Jonathan:
Y'all. Y'ALL. I HAVE SO MANY CHILLS RN. Y'ALL KILLED IT! It's cursed yeah but it is SO GOOD! The harmonies, the growling, all of it aaaaaaaaa I love this so much omg
I look the image...
Jonathan: HELP MEEE, THIS ROCK IS SO HEAVY
Anna and Caleb: *jojo pose*
I wasn't sure I liked it at first but then I realized I was listening to it on my crappy monologue phone speakers and I should probably put on my nice headphones. Now I love it.
This version of the song makes it seem like Luisa has three personalities who's burn out and driven crazy from overwork. Jonathan is the fierce determined worker side of Luisa that loses her temper, Caleb is the side of Luisa who's afraid of the monster she could become if she gets pushed any further, and Anna is the personality created from the employer who kept telling Luisa to work
The original is Luisa trying *not* to have a mental breakdown, this *is* Luisa having a mental breakdown.
I love these curse songs and how they give it an evil twist without changing anything about the lyrics. Makes me wonder if a 'bless' version of villain songs could sound as good.
Regardless, these curse songs are wonderful and whatever ones you three do next, or you and anyone you bring in to join you in recording them, are going to be a real treat for the ears. Thanks for doing these and sharing them with us.
Something I feel might be overlooked but I want to give credit to - the use of CURSE to represent the opposite style of the song and also the opposite of MIRACLE which is their gifts name in the movie. Beautifully done!
When so many other people went swoony for "We Never Talk About Bruno," this is the song from Encanto that grabbed me mind, heart, and soul. The pun on service in Surface Pressure. The frustration of being treated that way whether you're valued or not. And so, you find the dark underbelly of "I swear I will stone this place from the highest mountain if I'm pushed too far" within it and open it up to all of us. Bravo. Thank you for loving "Surface Pressure."
How the heck did they manage to take a song that originally gives of vibes along the lines of "I'm over exerting myself because I wont let anyone down, but I might not actually strong enough to keep this up" and turn it into "I am restraining myself from just letting myself cut loose and break everyone's neck". They didn't even change any lyrics or the melody.
HOW?!?
the vocals are a blessing but that glare will be giving me nightmares at night
Yooooo, this makes Luisa sound resentful rather than inadequate/anxious over how much she shoulders! Didn’t expect to feel some feels for this cursed cover 😭👏
Suddenly, Luisa becomes the _other_ designated "problem child" in the family. She's breaking under the weight of every burden that's casually thrown her way, but unlike the movie, she's had it drilled into her head that her family's love is conditional. Weakness = goodbye. She might be resentful of her siblings who don't have to be as strong as she is, especially the "better" sister Isabella. Either way this cover sounds great!
This was unsettling and creepy...in all the right ways.
It felt like what a villain's henchmen would sing😂
I feel like the whole crew is having WAY too much fun with all of this
I like this
Two thirds of the artwork crack me up and the way this was done makes the original song kinda badass, awesome job
As a mother I felt this song and loved it. Now I love it even more.
You sound like my D&D group's dungeon master voicing the BBEG. That's a compliment.
This. Is. AWESOME!!! It sounds like a villainous trio of siblings where the big sister was expected to the great evil things but the other two brothers were ignored, making them develop a hidden sense of jealousy and nervousness.
1:03 okay this verse is impeccable- you sound like your voice is actually strained during the "stop". Its like you're struggling to lift something up. This fits the theme perfectly!
this honestly sounds like a corrupt god of strength who serves another
This is like Louisa’s villain origin like she became a villain bc she’s angry at her family for all the pressure they put on her
What sounds like is about to break is a demon out of their bonds. This was amazing and like what has been said before, you three are God's of music on RUclips.
This isn't a villain song, exactly. This is a henchman song. The poor, put-upon Igor type that does all the 'heavy lifting' for the villain and never gets any appreciation or recognition for it. This is the moment when the henchman BECOMES a villain.
So I guess we're just running with the theme that these were just all tragic villain songs, but made upbeat in the final product? Okay, I'm not going to complain.
Everyone mentions all the different versions of disney songs on Facebook/Twitter. But they fail to mention THE GREAT JOHNATHAN YOUNG
I love how it sounds like a villain song now! How he can see the hero keeps messing up his plans and he’s failing expectations.
…..So this is day one of asking Jonathan young to do the 2003 strawberry shortcake theme song.
This is unironically a bop and encapsulates the emotions even better than the original song (which was way more relatable than it had any right to be)
I feel four siblings, and these three are casted to the shadows because of the oldest sister and now they have come to claim their place...
Been following you for over 6 years now man and the growth has been tremendous love these twists and all the originals you've come out with also I hope these collabs keep coming love the trio
That little breath at the end is a nice touch.
Anytime I see a cover like this the thing crosses my mind. A women singing this song is like hey she’s dealing with some heavy stuff in a reasonable way. A male voice makes it seem like this is a mental breakdown and they have just snapped
Tbf Jonathan is using his metal voice lol
This gives me the vibes of an AU where everything piling up on Luisa ended up making her snap and becoming the true villain and I love it
This version sounds like anxiety until they snap and rage with utter fury at everyone for giving them work that they could do easily by themselves instead of anxiety leading up to a good cry at the pressure of too much work.
Lusia having her villain origin story after a few too many visits from the chancla
ok but with this and the other one this is the villains breaking song. and Bruno is 100% a cult built on fear of the villain
Woah ! Now THIS is cursed & creepy ! I am seriously feeling threatened & scared by this ! I love where this is going (& am curious what What Else Can I Do would sound like)
The first seconds totally give me horror vibes, they feel like straight from a horror game, like I'm in a horror cirque. And when Jonas starts singing with his deep voice. "Welcome to hell !" It's like the devil is talking himself & looking straight into my soul !
That art. Those glowing eyes, that evil grin, that deep, threatening voice that's growing into despair & insanity & the fire. It really feels like he's coming right after me, to drag me into hell
That anxiety, the fear & despair, how you try to be the strong one, who can handle any stress & proves how strong you are, nothing is gonna break you. But you're slowly going crazy, fear of going insane & are about to snap & be crushed by all the pressure. Damn ! That voice truly sounds insane ! Like you're about to lose it & yourself ! Like you really are about to go crazy & turn evil & do something terrible you might regret
But you still got that little bit of sanity & control inside you. That fear, you must not lose that control & allow it to happen at any price ! That fear & despair that you actually might lose it all, be crushed, broken by all the weight & actually turn into a villain.
Because you just cant take it anymore ! Damn that would be such a good villain origin story
You could maybe stop this eventually & break free, it's not too late but....there is no escape. The pressure keeps growing & you must keep going, until it's eventually too late
And it's scary how much this could totally be a song by & about myself. Holy heck, I am actually scared now to admit this & how much I see myself in this
This version makes me feel the character sing this as they transition into a tragic villian
Yes!!!! I was waiting for this to come out!!! Amazing collab team
honestly, this is fabulous. It gave me shivers and made me think of a villain with multiple personality disorder and their at the end of their rope on containing the other personalities.
Whenever I listen to this, it’s always good for imagining OC/Fandom stuff, y’know?
I want to animate this so badly- IT'S SO GOOD!!! Absolutely perfect for a hero turned villain type of story!
Do it! I'd totally watch it
all 3 of my favorite cover artists in one. i like it. good job btw.
I know, that this message propably won't reach you, but I want to thank you for this version of this song. I was in a really dark place when you launched this song and it resonated with me really well. Being the older sister with two younger brother that couldn't be bothered, because they don't know better I felt the pressure of my family just so much more. To even be able to recognize that this was the problem, helped me so much to grow and to overcome those ridiculous high expectations. I'm better now, thanks to this version of the song.
Sounds like the sinister song a Disney character, which was previously a weak and pathetic individual, would sing after he/she got a major level up thanks to some dark deal/magic.
I would love to watch more Disney stuff with darker stories.
Luisa has snapped.
Jonathan, Caleb and Anna are the voices in her head as she rampages
Dude I was binging to a playlist of your songs when I got the notification..... Lmao awesome 🔥
This song just makes me interested to see what a musical horror movie would be like
i love the way you've turned the Encanto songs evil and dark so far. Keep up the great work!
This sounds the exact moment a previously not-evil character goes on to become the ultimate villain. Like the exact moment the joker realized he was batshit
Yall three should start a band or smth😂....seriously though...so good...I think anything music related involving any of you three is just directly a masterpiece❤🔥
you guys are GENIUS!!! great choices in giving Caleb and Anna those moments. make sure much sense! beautiful!
Hell yeah! Love the original, and I already love your version!
This probably sounds stupid but my life has been devoted to animal rescue and this song fucking wrecks me. I feel the constant pressure of the sadness, the horror, the impossible, and I want so badly to break…but I can’t. And call after text after message after plea leaves me feeling ready to give up…but I can’t.
Hell yes! I've been waiting for this!!
Jonathan, your Disney villain is showing...
I don't know what it is but you three make me feel like listening to a psycho singing about the pressure they were in before the became evil. AND I LOVE IT LIKE NOTHING ELSE! ❤️❤️✨
I love how Jonathan's covers paint the soundtrack in a completely different light
I like with these cursed versions we bealived that Bruno was the monster but the more the family uses there gift the more they lose themselves. Amazing cover. 👊
This dude sounds like he's honestly in pain, scared, being mugged.. idk but I'm worried for Jonathan lol.
Oh, boy. You guys did it again. You are absolutely extraordinary.
I'm imagining a Hellraiser parody where solving the puzzle box summons these three to sing cursed songs.
"We have such sounds to show you."
Not gonna lie, this gave me so much writing inspiration and I am absolutely in love
This is blessed, not cursed
Like the aggression when Jonathan says "UNDER THE SURFACE" 😤😤
That thumbnail is already cursed enough
When the latest movie didn’t release a villain song for Jonathan to cover so he’s gotta turn the songs they did release into one.
I don't even know the original, but loved this version so much I'm not tempted to compare them!
In this version the line "I move mountains, I move churches." Sounds like a villain who is a master of manipulation who is so good at what he does that he can move the mountains with his persuasion and he can manipulate the churches into worshipping him like a god instead.
