I realized what's going on with this game. The way they made it perform well despite having tons of planets with tons of entities inside of them, is by making those items disappear when you don't see them. In other games where items disappear at a distance they still exist out there. So for example, if you were to walk into an elevator that hasn't loaded yet, you might not see it but that elevator is there. You will walk into an invisible room with an invisible floor and hit invisible walls. But in Star Citizen, nothing is physically there unless you can Actually see it from your client side. You can test this by lowering your ship's elevator in the hangar and tabbing out to another window. You'll see your ship begin to jump around and even lag its way down that elevator, sometimes glitching out entirely. And this client side issue affects just about everything, from your inventory not loading, to not being able to buy items, to elevators disappearing, etc. etc. It's also the reason why someone else might be in your same elevator and have no issues at all, but the moment you step out of it, you fall through the floor. Because that next floor loaded for them and not you.
Yep! I noticed that very early on by walking out into empty space when the elevator should have been there. Its definitely a "if its not there, its really not there" type of game, all due to streaming the items in, which is definitely an unusual way of game creation.
40. is far from an ideal build, but it is far better than what we have had in the past (looking at you 3.18!), the missions not completing is one of the most frustrating for me with the dead shards coming in a close second, but I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones from what I have seen others mention. 4.0 does have quite a bit of polishing to be in a good useable state but I'm still glad we could play 4.0 over the holiday period. Im hoping that CIG will have plenty of data to come back to and get these issues resolved fairly quick. I admire them for resolving some of the issues even on Christmas day (poor sods). Ive seen a couple of dead evevators in A18 but as Im only working on my bounty rep at the moment its not affected me too much (ive not been to klescher this patch). Im happy to see the NPC's mostly doing what they should do and not just standing on chairs, I love the AI being more of a challenge than just target practise. Im keeping my fingers crossed that the current issues will not take too long to get resolved.
Definitely missions not completing has been the most frustrating. Yeah I've noticed the dead elevators, but switching servers seems to help. But yeah overall way less frustrating than 3.18 and the fact when it does work it's great, is amazing.
There are way too many bugs. I’ve wasted soo much time trying to get simple things working. From loading, to elevators, hangars, missions not working properly, I’ve reached my limit. I switched to Elite Dangerous and Starfield. I’ll come back when they resolve these issues.
That's good advice to get away. I went back to Space Engineers after hours of not getting paid cargo missions. I'll come back in a few weeks
Probably nothing major till they return end of Jan, but we might get lucky with. 01 patch lol space engineers is awesome. I need to revisit it

Trying to get cargo in and out of Lorville is a nightmare. Too much air traffic to be cautious.
Oh really? I've not done cargo there before. I'm sure the smoke doesn't help much lol

That's fair. It's definitely a patient tester. Elite dangerous has some good to it, put a lot of hours into it.
@ I’ve tried it in the past, but it was soo confusing. Now with the Odyssey update, it’s more approachable.
