- Join myself (Keenan) and Ashley on a trip along the cost of Lake Superior Provincial Park. We start the trip of in the south end of the park at and work our way north towards Wawa. This is a stunning lake with huge cliffs, big rolling waves, ancient pictographs and amazing campsites. Lake Superior certainly lives up to its name and is a must do for people that enjoy a big water challenge.
Saw the Pictographs last Wednesday, weather was amazing. But from the waterside a very cool and different view. Thanks Guy, Chef Ashley with her dehi amazing food.
That’s awesome. Glad you got to see the pictographs there. One of our favourite spots. Thanks Doug.
Well said on the stunning views, beautiful. I like how you arranged your fire and camera backdrop of the water on your last spot, such amazing scenery. And fine knife work on your catch, looked great. It was funny to watch Lou chase out the scraps you tossed out. What a special dog she is, sure does love the outdoors, just like her dad. Thanks for taking us along my friend. Enjoyed it very much.
Thank you! Yes that little dog just loves it out there. Quite the animal!
Been watching for a taste of home. Moving back next Spring. Love how your dog gets so excited for the fish!
Lol.....Thats Betty Lou for you! Always excited for fishing. Im sure you are looking forward to getting home. It's such a beautiful place. Thanks for taking the time to post a comment. Very much appreciated.
Awesome trip. Thank you for bring us along. I miss that area!
Thanks paddling 16. It’s such a beautiful place.
Superior is amazing, definitely on my bucket list. Thanks for another great adventure 😊
You are more than welcome Derek. Glad you liked the video. Superior is a must do for sure.
Another stellar video! So educational watching your adventures through all the amazing and different geography. Always enjoy the added fish and cook outs!!!
Glad you enjoyed it! You have to love Lake Superior. What a lake. Thanks Steven.
Familiar with lots of those areas from the shore, fun to see them from the water, ...nicely done
Thanks very much Carl. It’s an amazing part of Ontario that’s for sure. Thanks for watching and commenting.
So much awesome! I got the first view! LOL. Thanks for sharing your journey. You guys are totally awesome. Looking forward to your next trip. As soon as we get some more spoons in I’ll let you know. We are headed up there next week. I only wish it was by Canoe. But nonetheless we will take in some of that beautiful lake superior air and water. It was really great to see you both yesterday. Talk soon! So glad you guys did the video.
Thanks so much for your support Mike. It’s very much appreciated. This whole video thing is a different beast and we have lots to learn but we are having fun with it! Thanks for your help yesterday and we always enjoy catching up with you. Enjoy your well deserved holiday next week on Superior!!!
Wonderful scenery and great campsites. Oh Lou, she cracks me up. Fish and rock beds, her two fav things. :) haha! Looking forward to watching Part 2! Thanks for sharing. :)
Thanks Jacqueline! Lou is a different dog that's for sure! The best fishing partner a man could ask for. When I say fishing she runs as fast as she can to the fishing rods!
Great video folks!! Great music as well!
Thanks so much Lewis!
Enjoyed that a lot. TFS
Glad to hear it Mike. There should be lots of new stuff up for this canoe tripping season.
Your country is spectacular! Thankyou for sharing it. Greetings from Aus
Our pleasure! Thank you very much for the comment. 🇦🇺 🇨🇦
Keenan and Ashley so ecstatic to say you’re family!!!!! What an amazing adventure. Having lived in the Sault for near 25 years Superior adventure is amazing!
Your granddad would be SOOOOOOOO impressed. Very very very Impressed. )3 times is key)
Thanks so much Lynne. We are happy you enjoyed the video. Superior is an amazing place. I wish my papa was still around so we could show him these amazing places we get to go and see but I know he’s looking out for us regardless of where he is. When Im outside in these amazing places he is the first person I think of every time. We miss him so so so much. 3 times is key!
Nice one guys...Looked beautiful and so calm and tranquil :-)
Thanks so much. Lake Superior is such an amazing place. We are hoping to paddle more of it this spring. Thanks for the comment!
Nice trip! I recognize a few of those campsites from when I was there a couple of years ago. 👍
It is a beautiful part of the country thats for sure. Glad you got to experience it! Thanks Wade.
Paddling the coast of Lake Superior PP is amazing. Seems like you lucked out with great paddling weather. David Wells and the crew at Naturally Superior are awesome, as you found out. We just recently came back from a canoe trip from that area as well. Thanks for sharing!
We got incredibly lucky with the weather. Naturally superior are really great. Thanks for the comment. Keep up the great work on your channel David! Looking forward to your next video.
Well done. I like your style. Hopefully I can make it out that way someday. Looks amazing
I hope so too! Thanks Mark. Looking forward to more of your canoe build.
26:44 Ah the Havalon knife. Sweet
One of the Best knifes out there for sure!!!
The familiar voice of a good ole Ontario boy. Beauty vid
Thanks very much Blake. We very much appreciate your support!
In my youth we built a raft and traveled out to agawa island for the night and then back to the pictographs
Wow…that’s quite the adventure. Glad you made it through that safely!
Now that's a bottle of cooking oil, you're not messing around! Nice trout, looked delicious.
Lol. I really don’t want to have oil on all of our gear. Hard enough to clean it off a pan!!! Thanks for the comment and the support. Lots more delicious trout to come!
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Thanks Barret.
Dang nice........ Hard for someone to grasp the views.... So beautiful .... Cheers
Thanks very much Jim. The Superior coastline is an amazing place. It’s extremely beautiful and just feels really powerful. You feel very small on that body of water. Thanks again for taking the time to post a comment. We really appreciate it!
After watching Jon’s video on Lake Superior and how dangerous and deadly the frigid waters are I worried about y’all not wearing dry suits while you were out on the lake.
It certainly is frigid. Dry suits are nice for sure but I wouldn’t say they are necessary for any lake really. We are easy going on those trips and if it’s windy or wavy at all we wait on shore for the weather to improve. Safety on that big lake is paramount for sure.
Wow 2 dogs in the canoe as well. That’s wild
Thanks Joel. Yes we love to trip with our dogs. Adds a different element to our trips!
My favourite lake next to Lake Huron.
Its an incredible lake! So powerful and beautiful.
What I always thought was frightening was seeing the huge rocks in the clear water appearing almost at the surface.
You can see a long ways down on that lake as well.
Awesome adventure! Your video was really helpful when planning our recent lake sup trip. What cameras do you use?
Hi Adriana. We are glad our video helped you to plan your trip! What part of superior did you paddle? Its such an amazing place. As far as cameras we basically just use a go pro hero 8 for almost everything. Ashley brings a sony alpha 6300 but we mostly use it for photos although it takes really nice video.
Я бы с такой КАНОИЧКОЙ тоже не против сходить в сплав.
Beautiful! Any starting points you would recommend?
Well if you have enough time I would go from Agawa Bay all the way to wawa or even further if you wanted. There really is no bad place to start. It’s all really beautiful. If you only had a day you could put in closer to the pictographs to see them up close or I think you can put in near gargantua as well which is very beautiful.
This is definitely up there with Jon's Superior adventures. Lake Superior is such a remarkable place. A couple questions: (Edit I found the information I was looking for on the NSA site. Thanks!)
Hi, we started in Agawa Bay and left our vehicle there. We stopped at Naturally Superior adventures, who shuttled us back to get our vehicle. We then drove back to Naturally Superior Adventures, and left the vehicle there when we paddled up to the Dog River and back. I can’t remember the cost. I recommend checking out Naturally Superior Adventures for pricing. Hope that helps
@@CanoeTheNorth Yup, I found what I was looking for on their website. Thanks again, Keenan!
Awesome trip! Who makes that huge bug tent?
Thanks very much Bob. Glad you enjoyed that trip. Lake superior is such an amazing place. That tarp and but netting is made by Hilleberg. It's one of our favourite shelters.
I like your taste in music.
Thanks Uri. Im not sure why but for some reason youtube blocks some of your comments so I can only see a few words from some of them. I saw that you were wondering about the paddles in another video. They are made by "Fishshell paddles". They are really nice paddles. I think the model we have is called the modified special. Hope hat helps Uri.
@@CanoeTheNorth That helps a whole bunch, Keenan. Much appreciated. BTW,
I just ordered an Esquif Miramichi 20 today. Watching you and your partner on Lake Superior really helped me decide. All the best.
@@uriben-gal6874 Oh thats awesome. Thats great. I think you will love it. For certain trips there is no better canoe out there. I would love to hear from you after you have had a chance to paddle it and get a feel for it to hear your thoughts.
@@CanoeTheNorth Thanks so much for your essential input, Keenan. It'll be great to eventually offer you mine. The canoe should be delivered late spring/summer 2022. Until then I'll keep watching your videos for instruction and inspiration.
Just watching your filleting skills, I don’t have those.
Well if you’d seen my first 50 attempts you’d probably say the same thing about me! Thank you!
Was this trip done in early summer? Btw- rai o lite: emphasis on the first syllable, a hard i sound.
Thanks for that. I think it was near the end of July possibly.
Great video, relaxing to view. I noticed you switched paddles mid trip. Any reason?
Thanks for the nice comment Grant. I don't have a good reason why I switched there. That carbon paddle is so so light but its a bent shaft and although I love how light it is I always like the way a straight shaft paddle performs so I always tend to go back to the classic!
Canoe The North
Thanks for replying. I am considering carbon paddles for my wife and I and am curious about durability, bent vs. straight (especially for me in back). I go back and forth between J stroking and frequent switching.
@@granthaller9544 Hi Grant. I think I will post a video of bent vs straight paddles in the next couple of weeks. If you're interested stay tuned. As far as durability of carbon paddles so far I've had nothing but good experiences and no major damage over thousands of kms paddled with them. We have taken some good chunks out on some really hard rock contact but it can also be repaired. We do try hard to watch where we are using them though (rocky shallow sections). Maybe this helps a little. Feel free to msg us if you want any more info. Thanks again Grant.

I look forward to seeing the video. Thanks for responding. It is very helpful to hear from an experienced paddler.
Found your channel through Mike. Really like you videos and the dogs. What are the breeds?
Thanks for taking the time to post a comment and I’ll have to thanks Mike again for the shout out. The big brown dog is a Newfoundland dog and the small dog is a Australian cattle dog. Both amazing to take on trips! Thanks for watching Seann.
@@CanoeTheNorth Just lost a bottle of wine. My girlfriend called it. You must shave the Newf down. Again great content, love the fishing. Trying to get out but the parks keep cancelling our sites. Have decided that this year is all about Crown Land.
@@seannscott7206 Sorry about the wine Seann. lol. Yes he is shaved down for the summer. Just too hot for him otherwise. I think crown land is where it is at. Lots to explore and see and its free.....hard to beat!
Hi, Ontario paddler here. Just found you and enjoyed the videos so much. Those waders though! I can’t catch the brand and I love that they do not need to be hitched to a belt. What are they?
Hi Susan. Thanks for the comment. Those boots are lacrosse hip boots. I love mine. They are very handy at times. Thanks again.
Man I love Lake Superior! Those were some beautiful healthy lookin Lakers dude, nice! Great video! Just stumbled upon your channel, subbed and added you to insta! If your interested in similar content check out my channel and instagram, cheers bud!
They were very healthy lakers.....Ive never seen fish with that think a layer of fat on them. Ill check your videos out tonight Teunis!
Canoe The North appreciate the support man!
It’s pronounced rhyolite not rhyolite. You’re welcome.
