Tayto invented the flavoured crisp. They were the first in the world to make cheese and onion and salt and vinegar crisps then sold the manufacturing process to the rest of the world. Cadburys is also made in Dublin, Ireland. Irish Cadburys is a very slightly different recipe. I lived with people in Birmingham, England (the home of Cadburys) who worked in the factory in Bourneville, Birmingham who said the Dublin Cadburys was considered even better than the Birmingham Cadburys.

My great aunt Delia ran a sweet shop in Ireland in the 60s and 70s. When we went back home from England during our school holidays it was a great treat to visit and buy an ice cream. Not a cone but a thick slab cut from a block and served between 2 wafers. After her husband passed on it became the hang-out for teenagers . Chairs appeared in the shop with more outside and a few old tables. You could also buy minerals and other soft drinks and if the rumours were true (they were) single cigarettes if you were an older boy- never girls. Coke and 7up were almost luxury items compared to red lemonade.I made lifelong friends here who I would later go drinking and clubbing with. When she died it was standing room only at the church.

Yep icecream sold in a block.. cut a perfect wedge and put between 2 rectangular wafers and you've got yourself an Irish 'Slider'! (Being up in Derry it was Dale Farm ice cream. Usually vanilla or Raspberry Ripple. Every Sunday evening in the Summer a few hours after Sunday dinner at Granny's House with all the cousins this was our treat!

I live in Central New Jersey on the east coast. I grew up on something sorta likeMy Waddy (spelling😂?) except the syrup is brown. It’s called Drink a Toast (also known as Take a Boost or if your a local, just… Boost.. it’s one of those things you either love it or hate it. It’s made all from fruit, just reduced down to a syrup, then add water. I LOVE IT! My Mom actually put it in my baby bottle 😂 no joke! We use the syrup straight off the spoon if you have a sour/upset stomach… works great. Has LOTS of caffeine …. Most people say it tastes like coke or Pepsi with no fizz. I love it with lots of ice and a Hot soft pretzel! Omg childhood , 😍😍😍

So I am from Galway, married to an American ("Yank") and living in Pennsylvania (near Hershey!). Hershey is OK, Dove is better, but Cadbury is king!
We have teenagers now, and 2 step kids, in late 20s. Whenever I go home there is the guts of a case filled with all the things we can't really get here. I always have flakes, twirls and Maltesers, penguin bars, choc digestive, mint crisp, tiffin. I often get the mix bags or a box of quality street or Roses ...... and then ration like mad!
When I worked in Saudi, each Irish person going home always had to bring back Chocolate Kimberly and cheese and onion crisps for the work family, so those bikkies for me, remind me of my Saudi days!
I love watching you both, as it reminds me of early years with my husband. :)

I think that Cadburys Dairy Milk Chocolate was primarily produced in their Dublin factory.
Crunchie is made from carbonated caramel, make a caramel mixture by cooking sugar till medium brown, then add bicarbonate of soda, the caramel will quickly turn into a fizzy mix, cool down and it hardens into what Cadburys called crunchie.

I had a relative who worked in the Cadbury factory and she would bring us free bags of broken chocolate 🍫 and Flakes that would otherwise be discarded. I also love Cadbury’s Twirl. Basically, it’s a Flake smothered in chocolate, so not as much crumbly bits. 🙂

Quick synopsis: "kimberlys" look like Moon Pies. The coconut biscuits look like white snowballs on top of a cracker.
(Snowballs are chocolate cake covered in marshmallow and coconut).
The orange drink looks like orange-ade which is non carbonated orange drink. Is yours carbonated? If not, it resembles the orange drink one drinks for a glucose tolerance test for gestational diabetes.
The irish smarties looks like American Spree candy.
Milky way looks like 3 musketeers.
The cheese and onion chips sound delicious. I would try those.

American Smarties are what we call Rockets here in Canada. Rockets only used to come out at Halloween but now we get them year round. And also Smarties here are WAY better than M&M's! Canada is unique in that we have a huge UK/Irish influence but also a huge US influence being so close to them. We have Dairy Milk, Malteasers, Smarties, Milky Way, and Crunchie in Canada...do they not have sponge toffee in the US? My favorite when I was a kid was WigWag, which is close to a Curly Wurly...

I'm back watching this again. It's so funny. Next time you get a chance to go home buy Snax and Rancheros. My favourites.

Pity you had no chocolate bars that originated in ireland, such as Caffrey's macaroon bars. From Wikipedia, on Milky way bars "Milky Way is a brand of chocolate-covered confectionery bar manufactured and marketed by the Mars confectionery company. There are two variants: the global Milky Way bar, which is sold as 3 Musketeers in the US and Canada; and the US Milky Way bar, which is sold as the Mars bar worldwide (including Canada)."

I worked in Tayto in 1970something ( as a 13+ year old, long story) when we made the original, Joe Murphy Tayto (not your 21st century stuff you have just eaten) .. and we very very very rarely did Salt and Vinegar. Its was like, 95% Cheese and Onion. How about King crisps? If you dont know, you dont know. Oriel Park is indeed a real place, Dundalk played football there .. everyone knows that ;-) . I like your videos by the way, sweet.

To me, this reminds me of the chewy Reeses bar, forget the name of it, but it exactly has the same texture and consistency as that bar right there. That you called tasty Styrofoam Ashton lol 😝
