- DryBell Vibe Machine V3
The Vibe Machine is based on the classic late 60s UniVibe, with a unique photo cell cirquit designed to fit into the smaller, pedalboard friendly casing. This 10th anniversary edition is very similar to the V1 and V2, with the same features and overall tone but the V3 is tweaked for a slightly more transparent modulation. I had the v2 a while back. I felt like I could never quite get exactly what I wanted from it. Sounds weird cause there are so many knobs to tweak but I think that’s what I struggled with. Still my 2nd favorite vibe I’ve ever tried only behind the moon vibe
Sounds great! Thank you for what you do. Over the years, I have used your videos and writings to make many gear decisions and those decisions have always been good ones.
Thanks for the kind words!
Hi Bjorn, I hop this finds you well.. Thank you so much for producing and sharing these videos. They’re Awesome, and although I’ve been playing for many years I had an injury that required me to learn most things in life all over again. My guitar playing was no exception. I’ve had to approach the instrument all over again, and your sharing has really made a difference in the quality of my life. Thank you!!!
Thanks for your kind words and for sharing!
Did you find that you got better when you relearned?
@@zeusapollo8688 I’m actually still in the process. The dexterity was the biggest challenge. Once I was able to get past that it was it was like being in a Formula 1 car, but not knowing where to go.
Good for you getting back on that horse! Lesser men would give up. I tore ligaments in my fret wrist and had it scoped in 5 places. Its never been the same even after 25 years. But you keep pushing on. What you lose in dexterity you make up for in technique. What you lose in stamina you make up for in note placement. But you never lose that drive to keep pushing.
Love the website and demos, thank you sir!
Thank you!
It's so good with the drive signal. So many thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
great demo of a great pedal, thanks for sharing
Thanks!
Found your videos in the recent weeks after a massive pedalboard built trying to have presets for multiple artists that I’ve loved all my 40 years of listening and playing Rock music! Can’t thank you enough for all the videos you’ve put all these years about Mr David Gilmore and the Pink Floyd.
BTW! I found myself ordering the Vibe V3 in the middle of watching this video, knowing how great they are at building good quality pedals!
Thanks for the kind words!
You won't be disappointed, it's a great sounding pedal, the V2 is very good too....
really likeing that pedal.....my mind says yes you need that pedal.......putting it on the list....
Sounds really nice. But I'm very happy with my Fulltone CS-MDV mkII. It sounds perfect into a cranked amp
Always great playing & tones. It's a good Vibe. I own the v1. It's more-of-a phasey-vibe, which sounds great for Gilmour. If you want Real-Throb "ala" Robin Trower or Hendrix . . . check out the Shiftee Vibe. That thing is Phenomenal. Deep Hypnotic underwater, pulsating, liquid Throb !!!
Sounds great for sure. Definitely better than the previous versions that I owned. I’m a Dano Chicken Salad fan myself
I borrowed a friend's Chicken Salad and it sounded amazing for the $20 he paid for it
Woah
Hey Bjorn, nice video. I have a little request (if you have the time for it). Could you make a video on how Gilmour uses the Vibrato System (or Tremolo as most people call it 🤦♂️)? Because those vintage vibrato systems aren’t really known for staying in tune but Gilmour can use them so effortlessly.
I'll put it on the to do list :) It's all about the setup. You can abuse that thing pretty hard without the guitar getting out of tune, with the right setup.
I'd love to see a review of the Sabbadius Funky Vibe...
Amazing tone, so full sounding. Your playing sounds like this one band I know.. I can't put my finger on it.... 😉😜
Ha ha, thank you!
Oh boy!
DryBell makes the Vibe that to my ears gets what I like...
Just have to wonder...
Just how many versions will be made before making the decision which one to get🤣😎👍
😎👍❤🖖
Get all 3 of them and become a pedal hoarder. Just kidding 😂 l have the V2 & V3, both sound great, V3 has a bit more modulation.
I wanted a uni-vibe, so I searched Amazon. I saw one on sale for 30 bucks by a company called Kokko, who I saw sell many different inexpensive effects pedals. I figured, even if it doesn't sound great, it's only 30 dollars. But it sounds amazing! Great tones from that little guy. I did a recent search for it, and now it's around 45 dollars. Still, it's a great value for a great sounding pedal.
Loving the heavy overdrive with the Univibe for the Time solo. Can you share the settings you were using for The Engine? I have that pedal too and love it.
Overdrive: gain 12:00, volume 2:00, shape 3:00, tone 12:00. Boost: range 3:00, level 12:00, treble and bass 12:00. The boost is going into the front of the overdrive. These settings are matched to my Laney Lionheart.
@@gilmourishofficial Interesting. I use almost the same settings with my Victory V40 and it sounds great with humbuckers or single coils (with some tweaking). Sometimes I prefer the overdrive into the boost though for a more focused rock tone.
Thanks again for all your videos. Always a treat. Curious if you prefer the vibe pre or post drives for Gilmour tones and which order did you have going in this video cause it sounded great?
Thanks! I always have phasers and Vibes in front of gain. Chorus and flanger after. Gilmour has all of them after.
@@gilmourishofficial that sounds easier to remember
is this a plate reverb or a kind of magnetic delay? I love this clear background and this sound amazing
I’ve added a bit of room but what you hear is mostly the Pulsar Binson echo plugin.
Hey Bjorn ...
Great channel and Web site ..
Have you tried JAM PEDALS RETRO VIBE .. and if so how does it compare to the DRYBELL V3 ..
appreciate all the info you be giving us 🙏 😎
Thanks! The Retro Vibe is very similar. The Dry Bell has more features, allowing you to tailor the tone to fit your guitar and amp but they're both nailing that classic UniVibe tone.
@@gilmourishofficial Good morning Bjorn 🙏
Thanks for getting back to me .... 😎
It's not easy picking out something without trying it out so your help / advice is greatly appreciated 🙏
Hello Bjorn, do you recommend the boss bd-2 or the ehx od glove more if I have a boss katana?
Both sounds great but I really like the BD2. I do think it’s featured in the effects bank on the amp though.
Ok thanks for the help and the amazing videos:)
Outstanding! Which delay were you using?
Thanks! Pulsar Binson echo plugin.
Have you done a review of that plug in?
Hi Bjorn , could you tell us whether you use FX loop in an amplifier for modulation pedal or you use front input and clean channel ?
Front on a clean amp.
@@gilmourishofficial got it, thanks. The reason why I asked I use FX loop. A lot of excellent modulation pedals, which you've shown to us, don't work in FX loop due to over-amplitude after pre-amp. That is why I have to use digital pedals like Boss only. So, it would be great if you could create explanation video how David uses amps/pedals.
@@konstantin7869 I'll put that on the to do list. His setups are described in detail on my site gilmourish.com. He's always relied on clean Hiwatts and Fenders (mostly) and use pedals for dirt and colouring. Hendrix, who inspired David's in the early days, would also run his pedals into the front but into an overdriven amp for more saturation. Modern amps allow an effects loop but it depends on what tones you're looking for.
@@gilmourishofficial Thanking you so much. I didn't know that. I supposed that everyone use fx loop for modulation.
It took me a while to figure out, but all my favorite classic guitar players got their tones on amps with no effects loops.
after some time listening to other univibes
ngl, this one kinda sounds 2 dimensional, like an effect layered on top rather than something within your signal
i guess it doesn't *vibe* with me
check out the dawner prince viberator, i think thats what im gonna buy
Fulltone vibe?
Sounds like a vibe from boss gutar processor from 2000s but not a gilmors one
How does it do with humbuckers/les Paul? Thanks!!
Very well. The V3 has a more open tone, with less mid range, which suits humbuckers.
Hi Bjorn! Well done as always! I'm not surprised this is a good sounding unit. It's not a coincidence that the V2 is my vibe unit. Maybe I'll compare them in the future to see if it's worth upgrading. I'm not fixated with sticking to the original stuff, when an upgrade makes a pedal better, I go for the upgrade, so this might be the case. Thanks for the review! Cheers from Italy
They’re very similar. This one has a bit less mid range, making it slightly more transparent and brighter sounding.
What is that song playing at the beginning?
It’s a short piece I recorded years ago as an intro for these vids.
i very much prefer the new colour, idk why but it was kind of weird watching it with the colours desaturated
I have tried for a long time to convince myself I like univibes but the reality is I don't. I like phasers (a lot), harmonic trems (more than a lot) but the vibe is not for me. This however sounds killer (in your hands).
I guess it’s a matter of taste but to me the UniVibe is a much more distinct effect. It’s instantly Hendrix/Dark Side, while phasers and harmonic trems are more subtle in a way and more versatile. My favourite for years is the Dunlop Rotovibe, which is right in the middle of a UniVibe and phase 90.
@@gilmourishofficial I agree. Vibe is more distinct, dirtier and sometimes overwhelming (to my ears). I never played a Rotovibe but I heard great things about it.
Sit down play you know experimental
