I don't understand much German, but since I started listening to Faun and a couple of other German speaking bands, I realised it is one of the most beautiful languages to listen to. This does nothing to dissuade me from that notion!

German is a very difficult language. A sample: you say the car, the tree and the bell. In german the car means "das Auto". "das" is a neutral article - not male, not female. The tree means "der Baum". "der" is a male article. The bell means "die Glocke". "die" is a female article (not spoken as die in englisch - meaning someone passed away)
Back to the tree. If you mean one tree you say "der" Baum. If you mean more then one you say "die" Bäume.
Quite harsh, or not? And this is just one sample.
KingdomHeart87 It isn’t particularly difficult. There are a lot of languages with two, three genders, etc... And even if you choose the wrong one, the meaning will be there.
Same thing with cases: German has few of them and very often, you don’t need to make agree adjectives and/or nouns.
I always tell people it’s the language of love.

@@thenewhope8171 da kannst du Recht haben. ich habe sie vor längerer Zeit mal in Tuttlingen beim Honberg-Festival gesehen, die Entwicklung aber nicht weiter verfolgt. Es hatte mich allerdings verwundert, dass drei von Subway to Sally bei Patty mitmachen. Mal schauen, ob das nur ein Projekt ist oder doch nachhaltiger. Mir gefällts auf jeden Fall.

Exactly. It was Ramstein and my ancestry that interested me in the language in the first place. By the way it sounds, it sounds like a memorial song of a loved one or relative who had recently passed away.
For me, being a native speaker, german is an unmelodic language. Maybe because it's all around me, every day, 24/7... It's a kind of ugly, but reading poems, there is a hidden treasure of wonderful words.

What an incredible singing voice, always when I hear Patty Gurdy sing, I ask myself the question why not more people listen to her as well, Faun, Omnia and all the others. It is because of these songs that I prefer to listen to them.
Music made as a craft made on real instruments, when you know that there are weeks, maybe months of work behind them, it at least makes me want to show gratitude and when i can i will be happy to support you my lady.

Ich finde Deutsch fast noch schöner als Englische Songs, vor allem bei Liedern mit mittelalterlichen Einschlägen. Viele nutzen die Deutsche Sprache einfach nicht mehr richtig und haben einen enorm verkümmerten Wortschatz. Echt schade.
Absolut richtig, Deutsch, auch Mittelhochdeutsch, ist bestens geeignet für musikalische Werke. Der bedauerliche Umstand, dass Englisch in moderner Musik dominiert hat medial-politische, aber keine ästhetische Gründe. Ich kenne kein einziges englisches Stück, das ich mir nicht besser und schöner in Deutsch vorstellen könnte.

And I love the key change at 2:42! I know it's a fairly simple technique used in quite a few songs, but it really works well with epic songs and powerful vocals and instruments… so it works very nicely here!

Brava! Your voice in German is just beautiful. Many people do not realize just how amazing the German language is in song. When you first began to sing I thought of the songs from Sting's Elizabethan era lute album and then holy schidt there's a lutenist (lute player) in the room! I think the treatment (arrangement) of the song is very creative. The writing keeps the listener interested from beginning to end. The dress really works too. Off the shoulder-sleeveless is a great look. I think it's the visual flow of your skin up your arms to your face. The gurgy has a really subtle, warm sound much less adnoidnal than the Uileann (Elbow) pipes.

Ich fühle mich in Zeiten zurück verstezt, da ich fast ausschließlich Subway to Sally und Ähnliches hörte. "Kalte Winde" erwärmen mir gerade das Herz. Danke ♥
Grade in Anbetracht des Klimawandels würde ich eine bessere Isolation von Fenstern und Türen empfehlen, um auch den Energiebedarf zu senken. Wenn es nicht nur zieht sondern schon kalte Winde durchs Haus wehen, müssen beträchtige Mägel vorliegen, die schnellstmöglich ausgebessert werden sollten.
