- Josephine / Pheenie was left behind after her owner was deported. It is so sad she lived alone for so many years and I am so happy Persephone Harrington found her and called #HopeForPaws for help.

They were judging her based on her looks, just because she's a Pitbull. People are unbelievable these days, not all Pitbulls are vicious 😒. The dog I had, Nala, was as sweet as a Golden Retriever (she would growl at people who came to our house uninvited though.)

"For the rest of her life" is such a powerful phrase when you're used to seeing "forever home" which is used so often by everyone that it's almost lost its meaning now, it's just a thing people say. "For the rest of her life" really brings back that meaning and especially what it meant for Pheenie.
in a way the foster home was her "forever home" Man this one made me cry!! but at least she knew human touch and love for those five months!

She seems to have had babies in the past as well. Notice in the clip where she had problems with her reproductive organs which indicates she wasn't spayed. Ppl probably just took them coz they're cute but not her.
I'm a Marine combat vet. Multiple tours. I was in tears within seconds of starting the video. Monthly donations to HFP? Yes, of course. Their work must be supported. Am certain Pheenie is now running, playing and enjoying the next great adventure. Travel well, Pheenie.

As I look at my precious pup sleeping comfortably in his bed, I wish all dogs (& cats) had a safe and loving home 🏡 They all deserve it!!!

My sweet Charlie just died 8 weeks ago. I still cry everyday and I talk to him as if he were still here. Seeing Pheenie get rescued and get the love she needed so much was nice. Seeing her at the end, knowing she died, broke my heart. Rest well sweet angel. You are forever in our hearts.
You regretted not getting to Pheenie sooner, but you were able to provide her with a warm, loving environment for the rest of her days. That's what she knew when she passed.

@paula johnson - unfortunately, in poor neighborhoods, they can't even feed themselves let alone worry about stray animals. We can be happy that someone had reported her so she could be loved for the last 5 months of her life.

Even the poorest have cell phones...there needs to be rescue charity awareness, and animal compassion taught in grade-schools, for those not familiar with our culture.

Some forget that she was fed 9 years, not by you, but maybe people who were bullied heavily themselves. Pheenie knew the difference very well. She barked a second time at that bad person, as if she wanted to kindly but rightuously 'pay back'. God sent good people to her. And so we had the honour to know about her. 🧡

Her last months were happy. And to a dog, when 'now' is all that matters... to her, that was a lifetime.
I’m a crying mess. I’m so glad you rescued her and she had comfort and a safe home even for a short time and that she was loved again I hope her new owners fined another dog soon
It is so sad when the pets are left behind. Just glad that she KNEW someone cared for her before she passed away.

That 5 months was important, of course you wish you could have given her more, but she was loved and 1 minute of being loved is better than that 1 minute without it.

Rest assured, this 05 months were enough for her to be happy thanks to you, and this condition certainly freed her from all previous pain, dogs are admirable creatures and very close to being an angel, you know, I think they are . She truly was an incredible doggo. 9 years of loneliness and she welcomed every pat she got, some dogs dony come back from that. RIP beautiful one, run free and forever be happy.

This is why everybody needs to look around in their neighborhood for abandoned dogs like this and use social media to find them a home.

To my understanding, in areas like LA there are so many stray dogs that people just start ignoring them because you can’t help them all, or they know that if they call animal control then they’ll be sent to kill shelters. It’s very sad.

At least she was able to cross the rainbow bridge from a good, loving home, free from suffering. Man, I’m as macho as the next man, but the ending hit me. Years ago, my parents adopted a Golden Retriever who had been abandoned. She was on the streets for about five years. She was only with my parents for about a year and a half, due to pancreatitis which was, no doubt, caused by eating food off of the streets. No animal should go through these circumstances.😢

David, we rescued our Golden Retriever off the 10 fwy in 2016. The vet we found stated he was anywhere from 8-10 years based on his dental. I learned to make his food instead of buying the crap that is out there today. He was such a well manner and loving boy. We named him Flash. He spent the last 13 months with me at home everyday all day. He passed 3 weeks ago and the grief has no words. We chose to cremate him and now his final resting place is here in our home. I have so many memories of him... yet I can't stop the tears. I'm so glad Pheenie found a loving foster family for the last 5 months of her life. No animal should be alone...they want love.

Thank you for your kindness. I just lost an old, ill rescue dog and it was a privilege and heartfelt honor, to love and care for him in his last days. His name was Mike, a MinPin , all of 8# soaking wet. Mike had been tortured for over 2 years after his original, elderly person died. The house and dog went to her family. He was housetrained but not allowed potty pads. So he was kicked so bad he had broken ribs and left hip. Then rather than get rid of Mike , he was locked in a windowless, unheated garage for over 2 years. When Mike was finally rescued by local animal control, he was hairless, nearly blind and starving. Mike made it to IMPS rescue and his abusers were prosecuted to the tune of a $5,000.00 fine. Thank the lord for people who step up and save these dogs and all other animals from human cruelty. Eldad you are a precious human with a heart as deep as the ocean. God bless you.

In July 2020 I Myself rescued an 11yr old Bull Terrier, she'd had a bad life, her former owner, was a Sc*mbag drug dealer, he was caught, then convicted and sent to jail. He left her locked in his dirty flat, no food or water, and no chance to escape, and he never told anybody about her, he was quite happy to have let her starve to death.
Fortunately, passers by, heard her barking and called the police. Luckily enough, she's a tough old girl, doing amazingly well, and such a good dog, luv her to bits 😍
That's is truly heartbreaking. So many soulless people in the world. So glad Mike was loved his last years. Bless your heart.
This one is a heartbreaker for sure. 😢 So hard to think that she survived for nearly a decade in those conditions. I’m glad she enjoyed a few months of love and comfort, and passed away knowing she was loved, rather than forgotten and alone.
It boggles my mind that people fed her for nine years, but not a single one thought to try and get her to a vet, or call a rescue to help her. She would have died out there if that lovely woman hadn't seen her and called Hope for Paws.

The part of this story that really breaks my heart is that she spent so many years alone and neglected. I really wish she had been rescued years earlier. Thank God, that she had a happy ending to her life, even though it was not nearly as long as she deserved.

I always believe that we should help homeless pets asap. Look for rescue groups imagine her sorrow of missing her owner. ..nature has a soul...
@@bluepurple1971 I have 10 cats. 8 of them are rescues. I also had a beautiful German Shepherd who I adopted from a rescue. I lost him last year to old age. Even yet I still miss him.

So sad. In tears. I rescue cats. Live deep in the mountains. We have humane societys in huge buildings run by the government. Once they have a few cats and a token dog in a cage they are quote full. I take in cats. Am a widow with 5 children. It's hard for us to pay medical bills and feed them good food and find homes. Especially hard to save kittens around the clock. They are all living beings. There life is important too

HOW do people know she’s there for 9 years and not help? NINE YEARS!!!!!! I’m so grateful she knew love and comfort at the end. Thank you for helping her find that.

Ok I’m a grown ass man and I cried my eyes out 🥲 kinda confusing when you watch something that warms your heart and also breaks it all at the same time. I’m going home to cuddle my pup. Bless you all for what you do!!

These stories break my heart. Thank God she had 5 months of a stress free life with beds, food and a warm fireplace to lay near. Too bad she wasn't saved earlier. R.I.P. beautiful girl!

Eldad this just broke my heart that people could ignore a dog in need for 9 years! I cannot believe her owner never contacted anyone to help their dog after deportation. In the end she found safety and love but 9 years boggles the mind.
I am so sad to know that this dog died 5 months after being rescued; but you gave her 5 months of happiness so thank you very much.
As for those who have not given assistance for 9 years to this dog, I address them with all my contempt.

Shame on everyone who knew how Pheenie was living, and for 9 years, did nothing. People work in junkyards...people knew she was there. If Persephone hadn't happened to see her, she would have died alone, nameless, and unloved under that dumpster 5 months later.
I'm so glad that instead, during those 5 months Pheenie got to experience love, gentleness, kindness, safety and security. She learned that she mattered and that her life was important. When she passed away in her soft bed by the fire, with someone who loved her beside her, I hope that all she felt was peace and that love.

@@IcyTorment Shouldn’t just make assumptions. How do you know that the previous owner was deported because they committed a crime? There are many reasons to be deported and it’s not always because of a crime that you committed or a fault of your own
@@IcyTorment I don't recall anyone said that the dog's owner committed a crime. We live in a society that doesn't care about people, and it doesn't care about animals.
@@gpwnedable But people who are legally in the country dont get deported. Its just that simple. If we cared about people more, we would deport people more. And frankly they dont just yank you out of your home and deport you. That person had time to do something fro the dog. They just didn't care abut her any more then about the law.
@@aylae7337 Its a 100% correct assumption that a person that got deported committed a crime. Being here illegally is a crime. Thats why it has illegally in the name. I happen to think its one of the worst crimes anyone can commit. Literally stealing our country.
