    The dogs always look so calm when they are being showered in these videos but when I shower mines it’s like if an exorcism is happening. 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @TieDyeVikki
      @TieDyeVikki 3 года назад +64

      LOL... I know, right? I think they're just exhausted from the stress of the rescue, and they've given up fighting these people, and the warm water is calming, and those hands feel good massaging all over, and they probably are sick of being filthy and parasite infected. Your dog would probably act the same way if ever in their situation. But your exorcism comment made me laugh... been there, done that... it's a good comparison! :)

    • @TheRivrPrncess
      @TheRivrPrncess 3 года назад +10

      171QA Sometimes there is no where else to place it or maybe no time to. But the owner, if not far away, or even having to take the dog closer to the their new home could have found a suitable area to place to the dog where it would be contained and safe, then come back to feed, walk and play with it, viewing this a temporary solution until the owner can find a new home, rescue group or a shelter that will not immediately euthanize the dog. That is much better than what was done to this sweet girl.

      I’m not justifying this *at all* but when I caught a stray cat outside my house where I used to live, I brought it to the shelter (obviously) because I couldn’t keep it. When I was filling out the rescue form, I saw that for surrenders there was a charge. Like it cost money to surrender your pet to the shelter. I’ll bet that’s a big reason why animals get abandoned in areas where that’s a thing.

    • @johnwoody9505
      @johnwoody9505 3 года назад

      Without understanding the personal situation of the previous owners it's a bit unfair to jump to conclusions. The previous owners may have told people about the dog. Sometimes situations overtake some humans ability to act in a sensible and loving manner. As long as there are caring people around, that's the most important thing.

      We had a stray cat at our condo complex. For more than 9 months, we tried to capture him - he was very elusive but would always hang around for the food & water we provided. Capturing was also difficult because of what to do with him once we did capture him - we couldn't find someone willing to adopt him, taking him to a high kill shelter was not an option and the two local cat rescues were full. Eventually, when we secured a spot for him with a cat rescue (more than 75 km away), we had to take the drastic action of drugging his food (medication was provided by a vet with instructions) and we were able to get him to the rescue. It wasn't easy but so worth it. The group of neighbours all cried the day we drove out with him to the rescue. Pip (we had named him) was adopted and has a great new life.

      It's unfortunately the done thing among a certain culture (Nothing to do with race, more with income and situation bc I've known white and black people and hispanic too to do this) to get a dog just because it's scary looking as a status symbol, and then leave behind a dog when foreclosed or evicted hoping as a petty revenge that the dog will attack or at least scare off/inconvenience the new owners/bank people. You'll see it in inner city places often. It's sick and evil but unfortunately quite common.

    I donated yesterday and if I would live in the USA I would help you every day cause I love animals much more then humans...
    It's so important to support you as much as possible and many people don't know that many shelters are high kill shelters 😭😭😭
    The situation here in Germany isn't that bad we (officaly) don't have high kill shelters...
    Last year in August we lost our beloved dog crazy Daisy cause of cancer 😭😭😭😭😭
    We adopted her with 7 months and had a bit more then 10 years with that giant baby girl...
    She was the greatest gift ever and she was my shadow, my soulmate, my best friend....
    She loved everybody and everything and enjoyed her life so much.
    We were and are heartbroken cause she was the best dog you can imagine...
    First we said no new dog but we couldn't stand that emptiness and lonelyness in the house anymore...
    We wanted to adopt a pitbull but there was not one inbetween a 250 km radius...
    Luckily we don't have that stupid ban here in Niedersachsen...
    We contacted a animal rescue center cause we saw a advert with a dog who loves kids and cats and this was what we were looking for.
    We didn't saw a photo of him before and when we saw him we were shocked positivly...
    He could be a smaller brother of Daisy...This was fate...
    They told us he is very shy and anxious and he was afraid of men...
    They found him at a dumpster in Greece and after quarantine he came to Germany...
    He was very quiet and afraid of loud noises and many people...
    If you see him today you wouldn't think it's the same dog as before...
    Marley is a mix of border collie and a small munsterlander, a german hunting breed.

    I love the quiet and calm of this rescue. No one is yelling “no, no, no” at the dog or shouting instructions around a skittish animal - all done with love, calm, and positive energy. Kudos to all!

      You're referring to some very difficult videos with Eldad. Well to be fair, when a dog is biting through it's snare and then the 2nd snare, yelling "no, no, no" seems appropriate. Given some of the dangerous and wild reactions from dogs who have more fight (or fear) in them, shouting instructions to multiple people while coordinating a dog who is running wildly also seems quite appropriate. Eldad also has many videos of just him coming up and sweetly talking to a dog and putting the snare over their neck and convincing them to come on their own. Both types of rescues are done with love and positive energy, but sometimes life isn't always perfectly calm, doesn't mean there isn't positive energy in it.

      @@theshimmering2064 What a sweet, silly pup! It made me smile to watch this video again.
      I work with a team that’s done many, many rescues, and what we’ve learned is that it’s very, very common for abused dogs to be more wary of men than of women. So not knowing a dog’s history, the last thing we want is guys shouting around them. Also, calm, quiet, assertive energy is *more* important around dangerous dogs reacting wildly - yelling at them (especially yelling “no”) is a great way to get them to try even harder to get away. The less calm the dog the more calm the human needs to be.

      @@maargenbx1454 Eldad is better at getting dogs to do what is needed then just about anyone I have ever seen. And I have seen angry dogs surrender to him. When you have a scared pit bull feeling cornered and showing teeth, you better believer calm energy isnt going to win the day. Even this dog did nt willingly surrender. She struggled. Now what if she was a shepherd and aggressive?

    • @maargenbx1454
      @maargenbx1454 2 года назад

      @@marissashantez6051 Shouting at an aggressive dog does not make the dog less aggressive. It makes it ready to fight. And if a dog is skittish, there’s no better way to make it take off running than shouting, whether it’s at the dog or at other people.

Like pitties in the USA staffies and these bulldogs are being given a bad name due to the inadequacies of the owners. The only way our boy would hurt you is if he sat on you. which he frequently did..or maybe lick you to death..he has crossed over the 🌈 bridge and we have his ashes in a casket. Which unsurprisingly is huge and heavy!! He sure left his pawprints on our hearts🇬🇧💞🐾🐾🐕😭

While we HAVE done so and adopted a total of 5---2 of which had been dumped on the streets (others needed to be re homed--so we brought them home also. For a total of 6)--I would LOVE to be able to donate more. The cost of caring for so many does limit what we can give.
