Replace the small cotton piece with a cotton ball. And, UCO makes a bigger match called the Titan. Put the striker inside the case, strike face away from the matches, until you’re ready to use it. One match broke, that doesn’t mean it’s junk.

I'll definitely have to try out their Titan match. I was impressed with how well they worked and it was kinda my fault that match broke cause of how I was holding it. They just had an unfair advantage because of the Zippo matches I reviewed first. But overall I really like UCO products.
I really appreciate your feedback and I will be doing what you recommended. Thank you for checking out the video and giving my channel an opportunity.

The cotton is tinder, not just protection for the matches.

Agreed, use a cotton ball or some dryer lint that can be used for kindling.

I think the cotton is there as tinder. Take one of the spare strips and stick it on the inside of the cap, voila a protected striking surface. Of course put something inbetween the cap and the matches. More cotton fire starter would work great. 🤗😉🤗

The first match broke partially as a result of your striking method. There are videos on here of the proper way to strike a match to reduce your chance of snapping it. Take care man and thanks for the review!

These are not budget or lower quality survival matches like some comments suggest. UCO are the most respected brand there is. Also, who submerges a match in water and doesn't shake or wipe it off before lighting? Not a fair test. The water will prevent the chemical reaction from starting in the first place because water will ruin the phosphorus striking strip. Also, the match broke because you have poor technique. Put your finger on the tip as you draw it across the striker. You won't burn yourself and the match will never break.

Hey I respect your honest feedback and yeah I definitely wasn't holding them correctly. Yes I did review these kind of unfairly because I previously reviewed the Zippo stormproof matches which are the best I've ever tried. UCO does make great products and I would recommend them to anyone. Appreciate you checking out the video and again I do appreciate the feedback cause I can't improve without it.

I’m not impressed with the container.
Wally World had some on the shelves. I’ve observed them at different stores.
The container has casting marks in the area of the seal. That leads me to believe it won’t continue to be waterproof after a few cycles, if ever at all.
Some the seals were already messed up, so they would surely leak.
I purchased the boxed version. Just put them in a ziplock bag. Haven’t tried them yet.
I have been experimenting with the Pine Mountain matches. (Might be made at the same place? I dunno 🤷‍♂️)
Soaking for a couple hours, it just fell apart.
Did manage to light it with another match, so not completely useless.
Soaked another for several hours. Plan to try it after it has a chance to dry.
    We’ll see 🤔

So far the best container for storm matches has been from Zippo. Little extra money compared to most brands but both the matches and container have been bulletproof. I completely agree with you and would prefer to store the matches in a container I know will keep water out. I'll have to check out those Pine Mountain matches and compare those to what I got.
Truly appreciate you checking out the review and for the support.

Thank you! They are only "dangerous" if you breathe in the fumes when first igniting the match like with any other matches.
